Dr. Duhn is the best! On time and accurate in her prescriptions, plus a super nice engaging woman. Everyone on the staff is nice and helpful. They have great frames and accept insurance.

I had been coming here in highschool back in 2011 but i hadnt gotten an eye exam since 2012 because i have been wearing glasses, i moved out of town for three years, and ive been a full time student. I planned a trip last week and i wanted to see if the office had any time before saturday i might be able to come in.
i knew it was short notice and i wasnt even expecting there to be time available. what i definitely did not expect was how incredibly rude the women working the front desk would be. first, i called, and just simply explained, hi, im going away for a week, i was wondering if there might be a small chance i could pick up some lenses.
immediately, i cant remember if she gave me her name as i was so taken back by her overall attitude, she started getting very overly aggressive and instead of saying «no im sorry i dont think we have time» she just said «no there is no possible way» (as if to say «how could you dare ask if we have appointments available») when i told her my name she pulled my sisters file and did not listen when i told her that wasnt me.
when she finally got my file the phone was immediately handed to some other woman. this woman definitely did not say hi nor did she give me her name. she started getting very aggressive «you have not been in for TWO YEARS» «WHERE have you been getting your lenses» «WHO have you been seeing» «why do you need them NOW» she barely gave me an opportunity to talk, she more so just wanted to express how much of an inconvenience i was being. a year before they had given me my prescription for my glasses, i didnt think it would be this much of a problem.
honestly, i stopped wearing my contacts because i always felt the prescription was too strong, thats why i never had a problem wearing my glasses, because i didnt have to strain and they just felt more comfortable.
the woman at marin optometry wouldnt even let me ask any questions or explain anything. i dont think she even cared where i had been, just that i hadnt been THERE. i didnt even have an opportunity to ask if they even HAD anything on file.
Honestly, i felt very upset because i could have never imagined being treated this way by someone at a place i remembered to be very sweet. ended up calling lens crafters who were VERY nice and accommodating, and even told me they could squeeze me in.
tl;dr very rude, 3/​10, would not go back. lens crafters sounds nicer than them (so much for mill valley quality)

Sharon is THE BEST. It truly felt like she was helping me get into glasses that would be the best fit for me vs. what would be best for the business. Having worn glasses/​contacts from a very young age, it is so refreshing to buy glasses from a local business that very clearly cares for their customers.

Dr. Duhn, and Sharon Siegal are very friendly and very through. I have had several urgent eye issues, the same for my son, and they have always been there to help.
Dr. Duhn is engaged, knowledgeable and very friendly. She is always on top of it with her expertise. And Sharon is always on great at helping find the right frames, and fitting.
Thank you for taking care of me all these years.

I stopped in because one of the nose pads fell off my sunglasses and was lost. I thought it would be a long shot that they could help.
I showed them the sunglasses and they had the part in stock and then affixed it for free! I was truly shocked that anyone would repair my glasses for free. Especially since I has never stepped foot in the store before. What great customer service and what a great asset to the area.

Went in to look for frames and Dr. Duhn was SO helpful in an informational/​non-​pushy sort of way. Very customer service oriented and knowledgeable. Prices are good (not over the top). I recommend checking out their great selection from Bevel, Face a Face, IC Berlin and Anne et Valentin.

Recently on a Saturday night I scratched my eye on a bush when bending down doing yard work. Dumb — I know. The next morning — Mother’s Day — my eye was red and still really bothering me. And I was getting nervous, since I only have 2 of them — eyes, that is. And while I’m no fashion icon, I don’t aspire to be cyclops either. My last visit to San Rafael Emergency Room cost $ 2000 for something minor — I kid you not — so I was hoping to avoid a repeat. I called Marin Optometry office, and the voicemail mentioned Dr Duhn’s cell phone as an option. Even though it was Mother’s Day and she was out with her family (at a breakfast in her honor), Dr Duhn called me back and made a special trip to see me late Sunday morning. I was blown away and remain deeply APPRECIATIVE… As good as it gets!

There is no better selector in eyeglasses than Sharon. She has amazing taste and a fantastic eye. (no pun intended) One year (as I’ve been going for 20) a pair of glasses didn’t sit right on my nose even after adjustment. NO QUESTIONS asked, new glasses were chosen and no charge. Amazing customer service!

I had a superior experience at Marin Optometry!
I came in because i ran out of my 1-​year supply of contact lenses, and left feeling like i’d just made some new friends.
This was my first visit to Marin Optometry, as i recently moved to the area from the east coast, and chose them for their relatively high Unilocal rating. I find i agree with all of the prior good reviews, and saw zero hint of the experience from the negative reviews.
Dr. Duhn works with the easy going demeanor of an accomplished conversationalist who very clearly knows her business. She understands the importance of getting to know her customers. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation, and appreciated her concern for my health.
I highly recommend this place for your optometry needs!

I’ve been a client of Marin Optometry since 2002. As a result of a change in insurance, I cheated on Dr. Duhn and went to The Other Place. Here’s what I discovered:
1. The optometry department of The Other Place cares only about turning over clients as quickly as possible, in order to maximize profits. As a result, the glasses I ended up with were a poor fit. I had to switch out the frames and insist this be done at no charge to me.
2. My contact lens fitting was performed by a person who I am sure hates her job. Talk about unpleasant! She seemed truly thrown by the fact that I don’t wear disposable, gas permeable lenses. No, I require a bit more time with my fitting, as I wear rigid lenses that are NOT disposable. Again, this was a time issue, and she said so several times. I was a problem for her because I didn’t fit neatly in to the 15 minute appointment window.
3. My insurance provides no real bargains on eyewear at The Other Place, and the frame selection is limited. I may have saved some money on the contact lens fitting, but the lenses themselves cost just a little less than I would have spent at Marin Optometry.
Lesson learned. I’m heading back to Marin Optometry to straighten everything out. Dr. Duhn understands my eyes. I am confident I will get a masterful exam and fitting. Sharon Segal makes sure she has a wide selection of contemporary eyewear in stock, and she has no problem with special orders.
I’m willing to spend a little more money at the shop where staff know me, understand my eye needs, and spend the time necessary to get it all right. The result is high quality, high value service — something I will never get at The Other Place.

Doctor Duhn and Sharon are amazing! I drive in from the city and they always make me feel incredibly welcome and confident about the eye care they provide.

I have been a happy customer of Marin Optometry for close to 30 years, starting when it was owned by Gerald Belanger (who is now deceased). When Channie Duhn took it over around 2000, I had a bit of trepidation, but it immediately disappeared on my first visit. Ms. Duhn is vivacious and charming, but also very thorough and up-​to-​date medically. I trust her completely. I have also found the office staff to always be professional and totally competent.
Other reviewers have mentioned the high prices at Marin Optometry. My wife uses a different optometrist — Eliot Kaplan. I have seen both sets of bills over the years, and I have found them to be comparable.

I love this place! Everyone there is super friendly and helpful. Sharon, the optician, was so patient with me while I picked out my new glasses. She really knows her stuff, and at the same time, allows the patient’s personality to be reflected in their frames. I never felt rushed by Dr. Duhn — she was just great.

I have been a patient and extremely satisfied customer of Marin Optometry for over 25 years. With an extreme nearsighted prescription, and retinal problems, Dr. Dunn and Sharon Segal have been able to relieve the anxiety I have about my vision problems and give me the care I need. Dr. Dunn is the best eye doctor I have ever been to. She is able to correct my vision when others have said I was not correctable. Even after moving 4 hours away 10 years ago, I continue to drive to Mill Valley to see Dr. Dunn and Sharon Segal. I believe they are the best at what they do and would not trust anyone else with my vision needs. They take the time to hear my concerns and work with me. Anyone who has extreme vision problems knows how stressful it can be. I highly recommend Marin Optometry!

I ran out of contacts while on vacation in the area. Luckily I had my prescription with me and Marin Optometry gave me a trial pair of lenses. No pressure to buy a box or anything.

Dr Duhn is everything you want in every doctor — professional, patient and personable. She remembers me, my particular needs and history. She listens! And she keeps trying until we find the best solution for me. I recommend her unconditionally. (And this is the only time I’ve rated anyone.)
The rest of the staff meets the same standards — helpful, friendly, organized and on top of things. This is the only dr.‘s office I actually enjoy going to.

I’ve been a patient and customer at Marin Optometry for well over 10 years. I drive all the way from the peninsula up to Mill Valley just to see Dr. Duhn. I trust her so much that I followed her from her previous office when she started to practice in Mill Valley. She’s up to date on technology and professional education. She also is generous with samples of new products. I used to have a problem with eye dryness, and she hooked me up with the latest contacts that solved my problem for good! I also like Sharon, her optician, who offers personalized attention and great knowledge of glasses. If my glasses get a little crooked from use, Sharon will bend them back into shape. I know I can depend on constant high level of service from this office. Plus, Dr. Duhn is very charming and makes appointments a pleasure!

Really writing this to counter balance the negative review. I’ve found the stafff to be intelligent, creative and in tune with my needs — a recipe for great service. The selection of glasses is unique, and I understand that comes at a price.

I found the staff here to be grumpy and miserable. Great selection of glasses — just be prepared to pay more than you did for your first car!
