I’ve seen several therapists over the years and none of them had helped me until I found Richard. Rather that dealing with the current situation Richard helped me discover why it was happening by peeling back the layers and going to the little girl inside of me. Every session I had with him brought an «ah ha» moment. When I see him in town he always stops and takes a moment for me to «check in with him!» He cares about you whether you’re a past or present client.
I’ve recommended several people to him and all will agree he’s the best!

I have known Richard for almost since 1990, He has helped me many times over the years, He first saved my life by getting me to go to a rehab called Mountain Vista Farms and once i was there I stayed for 90 days, The I had problems with severe post traumatic stress disorder and he found me help, then I saw him for counseling in 2010 and he would just blow my mind, I had a hard time with some of his tactics because he would push the buttons that got me there, But basically I really did have a very angry selfish child inside me, that was hurt, wounded, lost, constantly lonely, never knew love and felt nothing but pain. My father was never around and my mother was a raging alcoholic. Richard got me to walk through that stuff and I got to admit I felt silly with my stuffed animals, I still have my elephant Harvey above my bed, I take him down and cry now and again. I still put both hands over my heart and talk to the little me when I am horribly scared because little jeff likes to rage and cry make lots of noise to get attention and that never works, When a competing business moved in to take away all i had built, they would have wiped us out but I stood my ground and fixe up my place, they went so far as to try to have me put away in state prison for a 22 second phone call where i was mad, I felt robbed and cheated and i was to sick to even defend my business and families investment, but all is ok today, I have the best yoga school with the best friends one could imagine that love me even when i cannot love myself, s
Richard helped me walk through that event and many more, I would never have been treated and cured my Hep C if I did not have someone to say yes I know him and he is 12 years sober,
I love Richard it give me a great sense of pride to see him at the Sunday meeting and let him know I am still alive and sober, Richard Lipfield will use any means conventional or unconventional to help you. Just trust the process and take the time to heal. Richard Lipfield is a great guy and wonderful person and I love him dearly. Not every therapist is for you but if you want to get right to the heart of the problem then Richard is you guy, He is not my buddy, we have never chatted on the phone as friends, but he saved my life, he saved my relationship with my family, he helped me heal all the horror i caused myself and others, I could go on and on, But be ready this guy does not do Bullsh&t at all. My yoga Guru says, what do you have to lose, your born with nothing you leave with nothing, You never know until you try,
thank God for Richard Lipfield I have 15 years clean and sober and a life i never would have dreamed i could have, and all because I can do things one day at a time,

My gratitude for Richard is difficult to put into words. Simply put, he helped me save my life. Gently, he helped me navigate through a painful past and stand briefly in an uncomfortable reality in order to exalt in the present! My life is drastically different today, I’m grateful to have worked with this patient and intuitive professional.

I have referred countless people to Richard over the years and always do so with the caveat: «DO NOT GO TO HIM unless you are ready to see some change. If you want to take 6 months to find out your problem, go to someone else.»
He is not your normal «sit-​listen-​nod» therapist. He can definitely be «in your face.» He is only human, and not omniscient… so he might be wrong, but at least he is passionate and ENGAGED in your process. He puts the «Active» in interactive.
I don’t refer people to Richard who need a gentle space in which to explore their feelings. I send people who want BREAKTHROUGH. He has helped me so many times I cant even count. Once I went and after 5 minutes, I had gotten the breakthrough I needed. Priceless!
Sorry to the guy who didn’t like Richard’s methodology — I hope you can find someone who will be happy to sit with you take your money for 6 – 9 months while you work out your issues with your dad. Richard is certainly not for everyone.

Let me be blunt: if you, or someone you love, may have an addiction problem, Richard Lipfield is the guy you should go see. He is the most effective therapist I have ever known, or heard about.

Richard is one of the best therapists and human beings that I have met. He is compassionate and caring and insightful. His therapy style is interactive and was extremely helpful to me. I would recommend Richard without hesitation.

My wife and I started seeing Richard in 2003.
Let me preface this with «when all hope was lost» (we had seen therapists and counselors in the past but had always left feeling unchanged because of our mutual attitude towards being told what to do differently).
But by the time we made it to Richard, I will admit I was locked on like a pitbull to my old (and unsuccessful) ways of thinking.
Richard was able to first separate me and my wife emotionally so we could get down to the business of healing ourselves.
He was able to show us that we were NOT each other’s problem, and that old wounds, low self esteem, and fear were making us both crazy, and we could not stay in relationship as long as we continued to blame each other for our problems.
(Our lives also included drugs and alcohol, so sobriety was a requirement. i flinched at first, but boy am I happy being sober.)
We wound up going monthly for 5 years. Haven’t missed a dime we paid for his services. We return for a few seasons every couple of years when things get heated, or we have an issue we really can’t solve together.
As they say «The help helps».
I also attended one of his regular bi-​monthly Men’s groups, and attended several his retreats. This is where I was able to work on my place in the world as a grown man, and learn that so many guys around me are going through a lot of the same things I am. This helps me relate instead of retreat.
I have recommended Richard to multiple men, and families, all of whom had success in recovery after seeing him.
I love his style.
As it turned out, I needed to have someone whom had been there to look me in the eyes and say «cut the crap» if not for him, I would have deserted my family.
My wife and I are still together, loving, sharing, and supporting each other (and our 2 nearly grown kids), and it because we learned about the family disease of addition and co-​dependence, interdependence, esteemable acts, boundaries, and our inner child through going to sessions with Richard.
If you are willing to let go of some of your pre-​determinations about how you should recover, trust a power greater than yourself, and really want to uncover (and heal) some old wounds, run to Marin. Richard can show you a different way of seeing your true self.

When my husband and I came to see Richard we had already tried everything. I had given up hope that any sort of counseling could help. So many times we’d attempted to get help only to get the usual,“and how does that make you feel …”
from the therapist with no actual work taking place. With Richard we got to the heart of our issues, worked on them and received honest useful feedback that allowed us to heal. I absolutely know that without Richard’s help I would have lost my husband. Thank you for saving me and giving me the family I always dreamed of.

Love Richard. Met him over 25 years ago. He saved my life and marriage several times. Can not say enough good things about Richard. I have recommend his service many times and every one I recommended has had a great experience.

Richard Lipfield is excellent, empathic, focused and insightful. I consider him a master therapist. One session with him has usually delivered more growth than 6 sessions with other therapists. Working with him has often been fun and opened up new perspectives. If you are familiar with the work of Virginia Satir or Carl Whittaker (or even Fritz Perls at his best) you will have a sense of the established therapeutic tradition his work draws on, sometimes involving role play and a focus on family dynamics. Added to this are insights from the recovery tradition. As a point of information, he is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with an advanced degree (a Masters), but he stands out from the many who hold those important basic qualifications. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I’m glad I took it.

My husband and I have been clients of Richard Lipfield’s for the past 6 months. At first, I was surprised at Richard’s bold behavior. He demonstrates situations and yes, once in a while he rolls on the floor. We’ve had arguments about his therapeutic approach and, in the beginning, I considered quitting. But Richard gets results! It’s not the type of therapy where you’ll end up for years. He’s definitely not gentle. But he demands honesty and you will receive honesty in return. He is honorable and kind and respectful. He doesn’t hold back and that may shock someone who is not willing to face the truth. Although he didn’t go to an Ivy League school for his degree, he is intelligent and insightful. And, he is compassionate. It’s education combined with life experience that makes for a successful therapist. My husband and I have made a lot of progress working with Richard, Personally, I am grateful for having met him and for being able to work with him. He’s taught me how to deal with longtime issues when no one else was able to. I have accomplished a lot with the support of Richard Lipfield. There’s no question that he’s tough, but he has a huge heart.
