They closed before I could even post a review, this spot changes so regularly it must be cursed. I was ecstatic to be so wrong on my first visit. I thought this was going to be just another Denny’s but wasn’t so. Every dish was a huge portion of hearty, comfort food. I miss the shakes the most though.

The old Flames, the old Red Rocket. Decided to check this place out because I didn’t feel like waiting in a long line at Ihop or Black Bear Diner on a Sunday morning. The place is huge inside and has a retro diner feel. Menu is pretty big with a lot of options. I ended up with the Joe’s special which is a spinach and groundbeef egg scramble;i love that they included onions! And the portions were large too. My boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash with fried rice(fried rice at an American restaurant? Risky…). Meh on the fried rice and you could tell the corned beef hash was canned. Service seemed friendly and they had a few TV’s inside which all seemed to be on sports. Not a mindblowing breakfast joint but will likely return. Oh and they will only be open for breakfast and lunch(closing at 2pm) starting soon, I think this may already be in effect.

Eventhough I practically live walking distance to this diner, I was weary coming in. Since with all the changes, I didn’t know what to expect. Service was surprisingly attentive. The menu was huge to look through with lots of different options. I ended up ordering a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich to test them out. if they cant make a decent philly cheesesteak then i’m done… i was pretty happy with what I got, the sandwich was a decent size and the meat and cheese was gooey and delicious. My friend ordered the special Steak and Eggs and I was surprised how much food it was for $ 6.49. he opted to get all egg whites so they up charged it $ 1 which was reasonable. Also definitely get the fresh squeezed OJ. Yup it tasted fresh squeezed. I hope they keep it up and keep the place open.

This is one of those spots, you could pass by without noticing. There have been a few restaurants here before, the last was very short lived. We stopped by the other night for a quick dinner and was very happily surprised. I asked the waitress for a recommendation, she mentioned the crepes. We both ordered one, each different. Service was outstanding, food was on the table in short order, and looked yummy. I should have taken a picture, but dug in too fast. I had a Mediterranean one, and it was the best I have ever had. The side of potatoes were just like I would. make them and really complemented the crêpe. Plenty of space here, great service, clean, and happy tummy was had by all.

Came here yesterday around 2:30pm. First of all I love how they play soccer! Second of all it was emptier than I had anticipated it to be. Probably because the lunch rush left. I ended up ordering a turkey burger with a side of potato salad. The Turkey burger was delicious, very juicy. The potato salad was kinda bland, I should of just stuck to getting a side of fruit(since I’m TRYING to stay on the healthy train). They should expect to have my business again. The customer service was good.

Came here for breakfast yesterday because my wife had heard good things about it from her coworker. Overall the food was I would say average. First this used to be a Flames restaurant, I never really was a fan of their food, and the layout of Flames. But this new owner has really transformed the place well. It is nice and open, a few TV’s around, and some décor such as Harley pictures and branding, and some Raider décor(kind of surprising other Bay Area teams were not represented as that might turn of some people). We got sat in a booth which are very big and spacious. The one problem I had with it though was our booth was a little bit sticky. The service was very good as well, our waitress was fast, checked on us a few times, and our food got served pretty fast. The actual food was just average, my wife and I both had an omelet with hash browns. The hash browns were a little plain and too oily. The omelet’s were average but I have had better at other places. I might give this place a try sometime for their lunch or dinner and see if that is any better.

*Lunch review* Spacious, clean and retro. MJ and I changed things up this time with some lunch items and both were very tasty — a moist chicken sandwich made with buttery bread and a sizable chicken cordon bleu crêpe accompanied by fresh mixed greens. Coffee’s forgettable though, so one can take it or leave it.

2 stars coz the dining area is clean to the naked eye. Bathroom stinks like hell though! Shrimp & mushroom crêpe w/tasteless mixed greens & garlic fries w/Parmesan cheese(extra charge) usually comes w/country potatoes… I made the right choice. Crêpe was greasy which probably gave it its flavor… though their shrimp is a tad bigger(5 mm longer?) than other restaurants who serve the same thing. The BF had eggs with shrimp… not even worth describing. Crêpe w/cream cheese and blueberry… more whippedcream than crêpe. Tangy and well… moving on… Overall… an upgrade from Denny’s. Check please!

This location looks brand new. Very clean and fresh inside, restaurants in Milpitas can be very hit-or-miss on that level. I am not a huge ‘dinner food’ fan, but there menu is really varied and everything we ate was fantastic. My children love this style of cooking so I was delighted to find a place where there is something for everybody on the same menu. They have Crepes! My favorite! I am not 110% sure about this next comment, but I *think* they fresh squeeze their Orange Juice too, if they aren’t doing it themselves, I would be surprised because it was as good as the juice I squeeze at home. Our server and host were very nice as well.

I love the My Café in Fremont, I go there all the time. The folks who work there are really nice and I love the crepes. So I was very happy to see them open another location in Milpitas. This is a much bigger location and has nice huge windows all around. Lots of flat screen TVs and plenty of wait staff as well. Our waitress was a sweetheart and seemed really nice. So why 2 stars you might ask. The food was not that good and the manager was not too friendly. I ordered a savory crêpe and the crêpe itself was too thick. The potatoes were super salty and I literally spat it out. Since I was in a hurry, I did not bother telling the waitress. She also messed up our order but I was still OK after all that. I felt very supportive of My Café and the owner who is very young and seems super nice. While I was paying, the manager asked me how the food was and I told him in a very nice way that everything was good except for the potatoes. He gives me attitude and without an apology says I should have told the waitress. Dude, really? I don’t feel as supportive anymore.

I was surprised when Flames closed, but in all reality, I shouldn’t have been. It’s a bit of a sketchy Bay Area diner. It did dive diner in such a way that actually drove people away. Frankly, I’m surprised Flames survived that long in Milpitas! It has been replaced with My Café, which, according to prior Unilocalers, was once a another place that was open for about 3 months before becoming what it is now. My Café was merely ok. The setting didn’t exactly exude warmth because of all the unused space and the red décor was used in such a garish way that I half expected topless girls to come out and serve… I also half expected to see a stripper pole somewhere, too. It was just not a friendly layout nor did it make me think diner/restaurant of any kind. I ordered the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and hash browns. The corned beef hash looked and tasted like it came out of a can. The hash browns, while all right, didn’t sit so well with me. Scrambled eggs were scrambled. Whole wheat toast was buttered. My meal was ok. Hubby ordered some crêpe with bacon, avocado and something else… I can’t remember. It was too early in the morning! He liked it and I definitely liked it better than my canned corned beef hash. Service was fine. Minor improvements could be made, but overall I found it to be far better than other places I’ve frequented. I’d give this place another shot because it’s infinitely superior to Flames.

We’ve been to this place twice and have enjoyed it both times! Everything is reasonably priced and the portions are plentiful. They use fresh ingredients — which I dutifully noted when ordering a garden salad and seeing a variety of dark green leaves, bright orange carrots, and sweet cherry tomatoes. The waiters are very prompt and friendly. They’re always paying attention to your table. The food came out in a timely manner. Such a wonderful restaurant! Very casual and comfortable diner, but higher quality than Dennys or IHop.

I was skeptical at first fearing this might have been the same old previous diner Flames. However, my philosophy is to give any place a chance and try the food at least once. Plus their 10% coupon was an extra incentive. Décor: This is definitely a diner with linoleum floors and lots of booths. Food: The Philly cheese steak had more fat then I liked. I would try something else next time. Price: Reasonably priced around $ 10 Service: Decent response times but I still had to ask for refills one water/soda. Overall this place wasn’t bad but I would need to find a more decent menu item before I could recommend.

Breakfast for dinner? That works for me! Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day. It’s ironic how I normally skip breakfast but whenever I get the chance, I like to go out for breakfast or make it at home. My favorite things to eat for breakfast: eggs benedict, Belgian waffles, pancakes, omelets, scrambled eggs, French toast, corned beef hash, potato skillet. OK, I think I just listed the majority of breakfast items but you get the gist — I LOVE breakfast items! After we were seated, I was thrilled to see on the menu, «Breakfast Served All Day!» That is actually one of the few things I look for on the menu whenever I go to a diner or a place like My Café 2. Sure I was somewhat in the mood for pasta but it kills me to be paying anything over $ 8 for a plate when I can make it at home, from scratch. My sister’s ex is Italian so it was a big ass deal if and when he sees any of us use pasta sauce from a jar. I was between the the Chicken Fried Steak($ 11.99, dinner portion includes potato, vegetables, and soup or salad). I wasn’t a fan of the vegetables so I flipped to the breakfast page and saw Chicken Fried Steak($ 10.49, breakfast portion includes 2 eggs [any style], potatoes [hash browns or country style], and toast). So in reality the breakfast portion is slightly cheaper and it didn’t come w/vegetables, haha. In the end, I ordered Corned Beef Hash… totally the opposite direction I was going for but when I asked my server for her suggestion, out of the two, she said, «Corned Beef Hash». I picked country potatoes, 2 sunny side up eggs, and wheat toast. There is a senior and junior page(prices a tad cheaper) but portion suffered to even out the price difference. My daughter wanted chicken tenders so I ordered her the Chicken Strip Basket($ 7.29). My server was nice to suggest no coleslaw(seeing how kids normally don’t eat coleslaw) but extra fries… when the order was brought out, I can’t believe the portion size; just 2 tiny chicken strips BUT I must admit that the breading and the strips were fried to perfection. I know this because I took 2 bites. I ordered the Giant Milkshake($ 4.79, chocolate) however, the name was deceiving because it was not«giant» by any means. It was very liquid-y but sweet and creamy, nonetheless. I like the chocolate syrup around the glass but in all honesty, I wouldn’t order that again. I also wouldn’t have ordered a plate of fries(they charged me $ 3 something) because I could have fed my monster w/my daughter’s fries… there were plenty leftover. My Corned Beef Hash was good but it was extremely salty. The potatoes would have been better if it was seasoned or topped w/thyme or something… the eggs were cooked just right, and the corned beef was delicious despite the sodium explosion; I had 3 glasses of water when I got home… that feeling made me feel disgusting so to make the feeling go away, I burned 800 calories the following morning at the gym! I like the décor as it was filled w/pictures of the players from San Jose Sharks, San Francisco Giants, amongst many others that I didn’t care to notice. A super spacious dining area w/a few TV’s mounted for your sports viewing pleasure. I wouldn’t go here to watch a game but I would not mind watching a game whilst enjoying my food. Dinner is served after 4PM. Our server was attentive and quick. The guys that ran the food for her(also known as a food runner) were friendly — they would check up on us a few times during the duration of our meal to see if I needed anything else. For some reason, I felt as though I was the laughing stock because I got a few laughs and smiles as they were walking by because my plate was clean… I licked it clean. Kidding… I didn’t lick anything but I cleared my plate, that’s for sure. I’ll come back to try more… I love having breakfast for dinner!

Huge portion. Food is good. The fresh squeezed OJ is excellent. However, extremely slow service and messed up on so many things. Forgot to bring water, forgot the toasts, forgot to take our cash. We actually have to walk up to pay.

I loved Red Rocket. The restaurant lasted for about 3.5 months and then got bought out by another business man and was dubbed My Café 2. Okay, this place would be GREAT with a 50’s night, jive music, swing dancing on Saturdays and a milkshake/soda fountain accompaniment. If you want to have the same popularity as Jonny Rocket’s or Red Ruby, you’ll need to work with the theme you already have. I’m craving the crêpe that was specially made for me and I enjoyed the service provided. We need this place to quit being dead and become filled as a contender of iHop, Denny’s and other breakfast joints in the area.

Well aside from the confusing address issue on Unilocal that has been fixed since then– this place has solid good food. They took over from Red Rocket and the Unilocaler that put in the wrong address should take credit for the blame in taking customers that week about half a mile from the actual address. This place is huge. Clean and bursting with red colors everywhere. Fast service. On point staff. Good food. Since Joe was here I ordered it. Huge portion mixed with spinach and equal amount of scrambled eggs and sautéed ground beef and onions and mushrooms. Good dish! It came with potatoes and toast. I took half of it home. Yup. I like it!

My Café apparently took over the less than successful«Red Rocket» which only opened up a few months ago. The décor remains the same with a retro feel and lots of musician posters decorating the wall. We walked in and was greeted warmly by the staff, but I did notice it was fairly empty. Perhaps it was because we got there pretty early. The breakfast menu isn’t expansive but it has all your typical pancake, waffle, omelets, crepes to choose from. Our waitress quickly came by and got our drink order. The coffee is quite good which was a nice surprise. I ordered the eggs benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was quite good. The sauce was not too thick, and it had just the right amount of tang to it. The English muffin was nicely toasted and not mushy. There was the right amount of ham and the eggs were poached nicely. I had the option of country potatoes or hashbrown. I chose the later and requested it to be extra crispy and they came out just the way I liked it. One friend ordered the All American breakfast with choice of 2 eggs, pancake and either sausage or bacon. He chose sausage and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the three plump, well browned sausage. It wasn’t the typical shriveled up type of sausage you get elsewhere. The pancake was light and fluffy and not super greasy. My other friend opted for the All American breakfast with 2 eggs, French toast and bacon. The bacon was a bit crispy, but not that bad. Unfortunately, the French toast was not that great. It was still mushy and raw in the middle. She didn’t send it back, as she is not the type to do that. She did inform the waitress as we were leaving. The waitress actually said, «Thank you for letting me know. I’ll let them know to cook the French toast a little bit longer next time.» The waitress came by and checked on us a few times and refilled our coffee promptly. Service with a smile. Besides the French toast issue, I think I would come back again to try their crepes and other options for lunch.
