TusCA Ristorante

Pretty bad place considering its in a nice hotel. The food was mediocre at best and the service wasnt that great either. Considering how nice of a hotel this is in and the price of the meal, it was quite disappointing! Overall if you’re visiting town and staying at this hotel you should check other better local restaurants!

What a splendid restaurant! Service was impeccable and I’m so glad to by staying at the Hyatt with this little gem on the property. We stopped by for a late lunch after we checked in. The restaurant was near empty so we had practically everyone serving us. I had the crab melt it was divine. — the portion was generous with lots of crab meat. The cucumber salad side was also good — very fragrant with fresh herbs. My daughter (7) felt so special with all of the attention that the wait staff gave her.
We came back the next day for the breakfast buffet. The buffet choices wasn’t as abundant as the Portola Hotel, but every selection was done well. My daughter mentioned she was looking forward to pancakes and bacon while we were being seated, and within two minutes, the waiter fixed her a plate right away! As a mom, I was just so appreciative of the special attention. Our breakfast just got better and better while we were there, with visits from other members of the wait staff to chat with us. Carl, our main waiter, treated us with some slight of hand magic, along with a mini lesson for my daughter. This literally was the best breakfast she’s every had! We had such a good experience we’re likely to spend all our meals here for the rest of our stay!

We went for dinner on New Years Eve. It was very nice. The only problem was the bill. We went to the same restaurant last year for New Years Eve dinner and the price was $ 60 per couple — as they do every day. We assumed the price had gone up to $ 75 per couple this year –because none of their advertising said per person. We shouldn’t have assumed and should have asked. We didn’t mind and didn’t complain. But it would be better if the advertisement showed this.

We had the $ 60.00 twofer. The swordfish was just right, fresh and moist, and the root veggies broiled nicely. Dressing mild and delectable. Wife has chicken picatta. Again, moist and flavorful. The crab cakes were mostly crab and crisp on outside. Gelato was slightly melted and intensely flavorful. Overall pleasantly surprised. Service was outstanding. Old reviews of this place don’t do it justice. View is nice, too.

The food and service was very good. Price-​wise it’s not great, but good sit-​down restaurants in Monterey are usually pricey. Our bill at TusCA came out to $ 160 before tip for quite a bit of food for 2 adults and 4 kids. All kids’ menu items are $ 5 though.

I really find it impossible that this place has a bad review. I have had three dinners here in the last three nights and the food is absolutely outstanding on every level. Amazing swordfish best filet I’ve had in years and a bean soup that’s to die for. This is far and above the tourist restaurants in town.

Had a great dinner hear last night with my husband! They have a dinner for two and it only $ 60 it includes an appetizer to share two entrees a desert and two glasses of wine! You can’t beat it! We had the swordfish and pappardelle both generous portions. Everything was great! We will definitely be back!

Breakfast buffet for $ 22. A bit pricey for what you get. Service was great and they have a good omelette station. The rest was just pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fruit, and cereal. Nothing special. A tip is that you can order pancakes with the cooks.

The food could be a lot better at their price and they charge you a extra 16% without permission when swipe credit card before writing a tip. The waiter said that they are just making sure I have enough in my card. Tell them before if you want to tip cash or not having enough credit in your card.

This was a nice evening out. We had a great view over the gold course and the fire pit from the hotel was burning. The music in the lobby of the hotel was a nice touch to listen to while having dinner. Wait staff was very attentive and everyone was very friendly. Food was very good.

$ 22 for a below average breakfast buffet. Food was nothing special, no seasonings or anything. Bland, bland, bland. They store the food in pots with really heavy lids, making to hard to serve yourself. Wouldn’t recommend coming here, I’d rather go to Denny’s for ¼th of the cost.

Dear Hyatt customers,
Please skip this place. Drive few blocks and find somewhere else.
Uncooked spaghetti with only 3 pcs of small meatballs for $ 24. Its not that easy to fuck up on a pasta. Waste of food, time and money.
Pizza was very greasy and the salad had way too much dressing on it. I wish that night never happened. /​deep sigh/

Well I rate this restaurant a 3 at best. We decided to eat at the hotel restaurant because we were out and about all day and we were tired. We looked at the menu before going at it all sounded awesome! When we walked in there were a few people eating and one of the waitresses kind of stared at me as I looked lost. I asked her if I just seat myself and she told me the host was on his way. Hmmm ok. After my first sip of water I noticed something floating so I asked for another glass. Without even picking up the cup I grabbed the waiter before he left and noticed another floater. That waiter picked up the glass and looked for the floater lol. Well FYI it was only water so it wasn’t like I was trying to get something free (he finally seen it and got me a 3^rd clean glass). I won’t get into details but some quick cons;
–The chicken in Cesar salad was dry
–The pork chop special wasn’t so special after they were out of some ingredients. The potatoes were tasteless.
–The scallop risotto was ok. Not bad but runny for some odd reason.
PROS-​The Cesar salad was good
–The waiter was attentive
–The setting was Amazing! Lots of potential
–Convenient location being its in the hotel
–menu was easy to navigate
–Italian soda was good!
This restaurant has some serious potential! They are on the right track but needs a lot of help. They are currently too overpriced compared to other restaurants in the area whom are the same cost but much higher quality food.

Four star pricing and two star foods. The shrimp Alfredo tasted like the shrimp were frozen and then microwaved which is ironic considering the open kitchen looked so nice. Lasagna was not terrible but not great either. Crab dip appetizer was mostly a liquid. The terimisu felt like it was made yesterday and served in some type of drinking glass, it was more pudding than the cake it should have been.
On a positive note the dinner for two special was a good deal (if the food was good) and both the Merlot and cab house wines were decent. Table bread comes with a white bean hummus that was unique and tasty. The pizza looked good.

Compared to the sports bar next door, TusCA is a breath of fresh air! I went for both breakfast and lunch while my husband attended a conference and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and prompt both in the morning and afternoon.
Their Continental Breakfast fare seemed fraught with choices but I opted to avoid the line at the omelette bar and order a breakfast sandwich… my old standby. It was cooked well and quite filling.
For lunch I tried the Margarhita Pizza and it was very tastey. It had a crispy, thin crust… just like I like.
TusCA IS pricey… but if you’re staying at the Hyatt, it’s a pretty nice place to eat.

I had just got back to the hotel from a long day and was starving so decided to grab dinner from here for convenience. How I wish I had not!!!
I ordered the shrimp Alfredo and when I opened the box the pasta was wrapped in a foil paper and completely dry and of no taste. The shrimp also had no taste and was disgusting. It tasted like boxed pasta that you used to make at home in college days. or heck even those tasted better and at least had some taste and saucy. I was soo disappointed that after taking couple of bites I tossed the whole thing. What a waste of $ 30! (Plus tip)
Only positive was that the person who helped me was really nice and friendly. He was very welcoming and helping. I wish I had taken his name down. Only if there was a next time. Never again! Please go else where!

Terri and I came to TusCa after first having an appetizer at Knuckles across the hall. I wanted Italian food, and we both didn’t want to leave the hotel because we were so tired. So lucky for us TusCa is attached to the Hyatt.
We arrived around six in the evening and was greeted right away by Oscar. He will be our server for the night and all I can say is Oscar was awesome. He made us feel at home right away. He sat us at a table with a view of the golf course. When asked what we would like to drink Terri went ahead and ordered us a glass of wine. It wasn’t just a glass, the wine came in a little pitcher type thing and it was enough for at least two glasses each.
The bread that was brought to us was amazing. A small loaf of hot bread with roasted garlic on the side. The garlic just popped out with some pressure from the knife and spread like butter. What’s an Italian place without oil and balsamic vinegar. Both were contained in a glass with two spouts. In the middle was a glass inside the glass that contained the balsamic and in the outside glass was the oil. Sounds complicated but trust me it was cool.
For dinner I went with the frutti di mare. Fresh seafood and pasta? yes please. As always you have to cut off the shrimp tails and pull the clams and mussels out of the shells, but totally worth it in the end. All the seafood was just amazing, but the shrimp was probably my favorite. Good sized plump shrimp. Get that on your fork, wrap it around some pasta and drag it through the sauce, and you have the perfect bite.
Terri didn’t have much luck with her dish. It really didn’t have any flavor to it at all. Just tasted very bland. When she brought this up to Oscar, he quickly apologized and asked if there was anything else she would like to try. In fact there was. She asked for the short ribs, which was brought out promptly and a few minutes later by the chef, making sure everything was going better. I was able to try some of this and man oh man, thought my dinner was good. Hers was out of this world.
Finally for dessert we wen’t with a classic. Tiramisu. It came in a giant glass serving, glass I guess would be the right word for it. You can just see the layers of deliciousness. It was probably one of the strongest ones I’ve had with a huge emphasis on the coffee flavor, but still amazing none the less.
When all is said and done, the place was pretty spectacular. From the food to the service and all around vibe, I strongly suggest you give TusCa try.

The breakfast buffet is solid. The omelet bar, fruit bar, and pastry station is stellar and plentiful. After a two week stay I was able to find enough combinations to keep it interesting. In addition to the buffet Style eggs, you can request the usual eggs over easy. The bacon, chicken sausage and thickly sliced fried potatoes were awesome. The price of the buffet is not for the timid at around $ 20.
