JBK Aire

I obtained quotes from several HVAC contractors to install an HVAC system in our home in 2010. I chose JBK Aire because the owner Jerry, was most knowledgeable and has understanding of our requirements and specific needs. Our home was originally equipped with only wall furnaces and without an attic space and on a concrete slab. This presented challenges since our hallway has limited crawl space for running ductwork. Jerry and Melvin took on the challenge by finding the right furnace that fits into a small closet, then fanning out the registers to each of our rooms including both bathrooms. The whole system was installed without any ductwork or plumbing showing in the living spaces. I can say without hesitation that JBK Aire is probably the only company that had the competency and willingness to install this system and stand by their work. I chose to get a lifetime warranty because even the best HVAC systems have the likelihood of problems. Ours was no exception. The AC system had a tiny leak that had to be recharged several times until it was sealed. The most recent event the heater would only work intermittently. Each time I reported a problem, Jerry sent someone or himself out to resolve the problem within 24 hours. I waited five years to post my review and I can honestly and sincerely recommend Jerry and JBK Aire for all your heating and cooling needs. This is one of the best companies I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Truly outstanding work and performed beyond expectations.

The owner, Jerry, came out to our house in Gilroy to perform an inspection on our HVAC system which appeared to be having issues. As it turned out all it required was a cleaning which cost us only $ 50.
Jerry was great — he did not try to sell us anything we didn’t need and had some good advice for us on fixing some of the issues we have with heating and cooling in our 90 year old house that were not addressed when the newer HVAC system was installed 7 years previously.
I found him professional, knowledgeable, and direct. I definitely plan to use his services again when we can afford to address the old ducting in our house.

The owner Jerry from JBK Aire did not get me the city permit as stated in the contract. Called every month since September 2012 which he always have an excuse…“Running some issue with the city… I broke my back”, etc. Now he ignored my phone call and voicemail.
Also, he’s not the one who does the install he’s using a 3^rd party installer to do it for him. This guy doesn’t keep is part of the agreement and everything have to be pay upfront with cash or check so he can walk away with your money at any given point. I was luck that my unit was installed. AVOID JBK Aire, there’re much more creditable installer in the bay area.

I have had JBK Aire replace both the heater and air conditioner over the last several years. Jerry was knowledgeable and helpful. The installer was quick and thorough. The only problem is their failure to keep up with the promised, free annual service agreement as well as implement the monthly fee. Unfortunately, they also do not respond to telephone calls and e-​mails about the issue.

My AC broke during the hottest weeks of the year. I was able to get JBK air to come out right away. He said it was either the capacitor or the motor and if it was the motor I was not going to like it, and I may as well consider replacing the whole unit if that was the case. He replaced the capacitor which seem to do the trick. Charged me 221. 30 mins. later the AC wasn’t working again. I called and he said it was more than likely the motor. I told him we are not interested in replacing the unit so we just wanted to get the motor fixed and he quoted me around $ 470. I told him to stand by before ordering. I have a friend that fixes commercial ACs for a living so I had him come out. He said the capacitor JBK replaced was the wrong one. He said the motor was idling high, however it could be because the capacitor was bigger than the original one. He said he would order me the right capacitor and if it still didn’t work he would then order a motor. He asked me how much I paid for the capacitor and was floored when I told him. he said they are normally $ 15-​$ 20. And motors between $ 50-​$ 100. When the right capacitor came my friend installed it and that fixed the problem. The total $ 17.00. He said even with a new motor, if he was using the wrong capacitor eventually that would have burned out the new motor. In addition my friend said my AC unit was fine. Even though it’s older it would last as long as we took care of it. I called JBK and told them the situation and asked for a refund. He refunded me the money I paid for the capacitor and still charged me the fee to come out which I believe was $ 84.00. It seemed to me either this company does not know what they are doing or they were out to get me to replace my AC unit. I must have a gullible face. I was without AC for 2 weeks due to my friend having to do this in between jobs but in the end it was worth it.

Great job. Friendly on the phone, came out within 2 hours and made my wife feel very comfortable with the fixes. Seemed like a fair price.

Needed a technician to inspect my HVAC system for problems. Was able to call Jerry on a Monday morning and schedule on the same day to take a look. I mentioned to him that I had been experiencing problems with the unit and needed help with identifying what were the problems with the system. Mine is a 25 year old Rheem HVAC that probably needs replacing, but with the summer heat blazing through, I was hoping for something better than «buy a new system» (which is what I will eventually end up doing).
Jerry arrived on-​time and gave me a lot of useful information — which is definitely worth what he requested in fees. To me, however, his diagnosis was incomplete. He suggested to keep the indoor vents open to prevent coolant freezing. But the fan motor and condenser still shut off on hot days — which is not definitely what should happen with an HVAC system! It’s an old unit and needs replacing anyway. But Jerry gave me no specifics as to what could be wrong with the outdoor unit which is what I was looking for to justify spending $ 3k and upwards for a new system.
I briefly spoke to Dave from Central Coast Air Conditioning and he was fully booked. He did give me some valuable information about how to troubleshoot the outdoor unit, especially regarding the capacitors.
In summary, I think I can get a better inspection service for my HVAC than JBK Aire Inc.

Excellent and prompt professional service.
Called in late afternoon after trying another local vendor and not getting any call back.
Was contacted back very quickly, given a contact time the very next morning when they would be able to tell me the schedule for service.
They contacted me at 8am and the service started at 8:30.
Our AC units were thoroughly checked out and the problem found quite quickly.
Offered up a couple options for the repair and setup a plan to monitor the fix.
even specified what the warranty fix would be, depending on what changes.
Even found some incorrect filter setups and fixed them while looking over the system.
All fixed up and running by 10am.

Jerry (owner) and his team of Melvin and one helper are really professional, efficient, quiet, courteous, and friendly.
I had the almost 50-​year old furnace in my house replaced and the work was done in about 7 hours (including lunch break). They always wore boot covers while entering the house, they did cover the work area with cloth to protect the hardwood floors and carpets. During the span of the work, they must have removed and put on the boot covers at least 50 times while getting tools and materials from their truck.
The work was done with minimal noise, all the debris cleaned, carpet vacuumed and the complete closet installation bubble-​wrapped (even sections that they did not replace).
I would highly recommend JBK Aire to anyone wanting to upgrade their furnace

After going round and round with multiple contractors who all seemed to have lengthy, intrusive and expensive quotes, it was a sigh of relief to find our solution wasn’t nearly as expensive or time consuming as we had been led to believe.
The team at JBK Aire (Service Now) was top notch from the time they picked up the phone. They even wore little covers over their shoes to keep my rug clean! They were able to explain what they were doing and why without the jargon and run around.
We are warm again and not broke! Thank you so much!!!
