Went to Sam’s on a whim!!! And I was very surprised by how friendly the people were. And how good the food was. I had the footloong Hotdog w/chill and onions!!! And I must say it was great!!! The chill was good w/fresh onions and the Hotdog was cooked to perfection!!! I also ordered the Onion rings that were golden brown with a beautiful crunchy coating on them!!! I will definitely be returning to Sam’s before I head Back to Anderson, IN

Glorified hot dog stand — also serves burgers(good too), breakfast(never tried it) and draft beer. Think they also tune up basic cocktails. Visited here as the Pawley’s Island location has closed. This location has more of a Jersey shore(the PLACE, not the gawdawful TV show) cheesy beach town kind of ambience — so if you like that, BAM! Here you go. Tip: Don’t get a foot long chili dog. Get two regular dogs instead. More dog, more chili that way.

Pimento cheese burger wasn’t great, but hot dogs were good. You get what you expect there.

Great burger! Really enjoyed the fun atmosphere. It felt like back in the day beach food.

Good food, from past experiences, serving sizes got smaller. Easy to order and big selection of food. Tasty hotdogs and fries! Great experience

The only reason to go here IMO is for the footlong chili dog. It’s great and worthy of five stars. The rest of the place is pretty rough and some may be turned off by its appearance as a super dive. My experiences here have always been pleasant but I have never been here late at night when the ‘over served’ are looking for some grease and coffee to sober up a little. There are some local items on the menu which I haven’t tried because I can’t get past the chili dog. A couple are the Pimento cheeseburger, the ElPaso sandwich which is grilled pimento cheese, bacon, jalapeños and tomato on grilled wheat bread. Surely that sandwich will fix a hangover! Breakfast and lunch 24 hours a day in beach season. Indoor booths and counter seating. Outdoor tables for people watching. Cold beer on tap in frosty mugs. The location is actually in Garden City SC across the street from the Garden City Pier.

Breakfast near the beach in January? Yep! This little place has it. I was looking for a hot cup of Joe and some bacon n’ eggs. Found it! Sam’s has a diner bar, perfect for one. The regular locals who frequent the place and the breakfast chef behind the counter add a lot of character to the meal, and the Texas Pete hot sauce on my western omelette was just like home. If you’re looking for a nice greasy spoon diner to take you back to the good old days with a unique location across the street from the Atlantic ocean, look no further!

Staff friendly. Only ones there for breakfast. Bacon cold, hash browns were honestly horrible.

This is an update to my original review. I guess this place juat gave a good first impression. I went here and the cashier did not even put our ticket through so we sat waiting for our fries for 15 minutes. The employees who took our order saw us sitting there and did nothing until we finally got up to ask. The overall cleanliness of this place is not good. Saw the cook take garbage out and not wear gloves or wash his hands before handling food. He did this every time we went. Gross. All the food is just sitting out, likely not fresh, meanwhile bugs are flying around or dead in the windows. I really wanted to like this place but after the first time, the other times I went it just seemed consistently nasty and like one of the places you see on TV that neglect the whole idea of cleaning. Only good thing is that its comvieniently near the beach and open 24\7

Staying in Garden City, we passed by this place every time we came or went. It looked like a nice diner/dive location with just the right amount of gaudiness. The exterior had a dining area raised above the road and signs on the sides of the building advertised different dishes. It was the sign for the shrimp burger that sent us there for lunch. It turns out however that they don’t even have half those items anymore as the guy at the counter told us(referring to what is advertised outside). He offered us an up to date menu, as the one online still lists everything, and the menu was covered with grease and who knows what else. We went somewhere else for lunch. Terribly disappointing.

This 24hour dive spot is good for great food after a long night out. Fried munchies, hamburgers, Texas jalapeño hotdogs, cheese fries, and beers hit the spot at 2AM on a Wednesday.

Right off the beach, across the street from the Garden City Pier, lies Sam ‘s Corner. This is a place where you order at the register and they call your number when your food is ready. This was kind of disastrous, since the line was pretty long and there isn’t a good place for people to queue up. The restaurant is pretty scuzzy, if that is even a word, but I suppose that adds to the mystique of the place. This is a great spot for people watching. I had fun soaking up some«local color» while we waited for our food. People even walked into the restaurant barefoot because apparently putting on flip flops takes too much effort. I had the pimento cheese hamburger, which was a really good calorie bomb. It was the perfect ending to a day on the beach drinking Coors Light. They are open 24 hours a day and apparently they serve some sort of breakfast. Not sure if I will ever make it here while completely sober to experience breakfast first hand. I would like to come back and try the French fries, the true bench mark for a place of this caliber.

The location is convenient other than that this place is a disaster. The only thing to be said about my experience here is regret. The staff is unprofessional and rude. The establishment is old it uncleaned. The food is OVERPRICED and all around terrible. Worst dinning experience thus far in South Caroline. Go anywhere else please. (This is a review of my breakfast experience only other have commented the Hotdogs, Hamburgers were good, I am not reviewing them) Order Cheese Omelet w/Hash-browns: $ 7 (not horrible small portioned Omelet hash-brows were enjoyable) Bagel with Eggs Cream Cheese Bacon: $ 7 (worlds smallest bagel award goes to Sam’s Corner) Country Ham Sandwich: $ 6 (This sandwich is two pieces of toast and two slices of salt covered inedible ham. I can not being to understand how this is priced at) Just don’t go here! Asked for a Cup of water were charge for a bottle of water and told the transaction could not be undone.

Great little burger by the beach joint. Sign inside says ‘since 1976′! A lot like a diner atmosphere, or like Waffle House — you can see everything being cooked from a counter. We had burgers & fries, pretty standard stuff but price was good & food was fresh & tasted good! They have good breakfast deals too… door said open 24 hours! Outside tables have nice shade, tables didn’t seem the cleanest, but if you are fresh off the beach it prolly won’t matter to you, we sat on our boogie boards & used a few extra napkins… Hubby says men’s room was all new tile & was clean! DEF better looking than the pier restaurant right across the way, which did not strike me as being the cleanest! Update next day… went for breakfast & it was really good. No fluff(no pancakes or French toast), just straight b’fast fare. All tasted great. Staff did not all seem real happy in general, but a younger gal was the nicest & was pleasant — doesn’t effect the food!

We just wanted a quick stop that wasn’t at a chain. We liked the large menu and ended up with chili hotdogs and footlong corndogs. They even offer a fried bologna sandwich. Surprised to see they sell liquor in mini bottles which was kind of strange as it seemed like a family place.

Well the location is okay. It’s kind of cramped, worn, and could use a scrubbing. Food was so-so. Nothing to write home about. Three burgers a corn dog and four fries and drinks came to $ 43.00. No value there. And to add insult to expense they charge .50 for refills.

Sams is a Garden City tradition that everyone should try at least once. Located directly across from the Garden City Pier it is perfect for stopping in and grabbing one of their famous hotdogs or any other item on their menu. Prices are somewhat on the high side; hotdog, fries and coke is around $ 8; but so worth it. And it is right on the beach so paying more is to be expected. They have a full menu of items but I cant get away from the dogs to try anything else! They also serve a wide range of mixed drinks and beer so you can bring the kids and still have a nice drink.

Gross bathrooms, 55 cents for refills, no napkins anywhere. It’s very tight inside. There’s a fish tank which kids like I suppose. Burgers, fries, hot dogs, onion rings. It all tasted pretty good. Not worth the price though.

SO much nostalgia with this place — have been going here every summer for more years than I’d like ot admit. Food is average to above average — good dogs, great onion rings, good burgers — never had anything bad here.

I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid. As any local can tell you, this is the diner to go to if you’re out late and need something greasy to soak up the alcohol! Surprisingly, they have a mini bottle bar and beers, so you can continue your drinking fun if you like :) I highly recommend the foot long corndog or any breakfast dish(haven’t tried the steak and eggs though). My hubby loves the foot long hotdog. Everyone loves the fries and burgers, of course. This location is also wonderful because it’s across the street from the beach, Garden City Pier and Painter’s Ice Cream, and right next door to an arcade and on the general strip of businesses. There are benches out front that you can sit on, overlooking the busy intersection. The staff are generally older, «been around» folk who are fun to chat with and there’s a couple arcade games in both of their locations. Oh, did I forget to mention that? There’s another one of these babies on Hwy 17 heading south from the one in Garden City, in Pawleys Island, SC, and it’s just as great!
