The Belmont Pet Resort and Daycare

I started going to the BPR after I received a pamphlet from the vet next door when I brought my new puppy in for a check up. When he was old enough, I took him in for the very thorough temperament test and the rest is history. George loved his time at the Belmont and had so many friends — I loved being able to look in on him via the online cameras during daycare (and also when I would leave him for boarding) and the report cards they would send home every once in a while to let me know what he would be getting up to were hilarious and well thought out!
This is a place where everyone, from the front desk staff to the pet assistants, boarding staff, and the very personable and knowledgeable manager, Susan, loves every single dog that walks through the door. They really take the time to meet and know your dog.
Sadly, George and I moved away, but the Belmont is the standard we hold to every other new daycare we visit. And I know that if George and I are ever back in the Nashville area we will be back to visit!

I started using BPR for daycare and found a need to use their boarding facility. I love their daycare program. My dog comes home tired everyday. I get to watch her on camera as an added bonus! She even gets a nap in her suite before dinner during her overnight stays. I cant say enought great things about this daycare!

Our dog Daisy has been going to daycare at Belmont three days a week for almost a year and we could not love it more! The staff are incredibly friendly and know most of their clients by name. Daisy is scared of most people but she loves the staff at Belmont which tells me how well they treat her. They’re attentive to her — moving her to play with the small dogs when she seems overwhelmed by the big dogs — and know her personality. While daycare may seem expensive, we send her for half days and buy the largest packages and we feel like we’re getting an excellent value for our money. Daisy LOVES Belmont and is so excited every time we drive past. We’ve boarded her at Belmont twice and, although expensive, we had peace of mind knowing she was in a place where she was comfortable and well cared for. Definitely a fantastic place for daycare and a good option for boarding as well!

One of the German Shorthaired Pointer crew, Parker, the almost 9-​year old is a regular at The Belmont Pet Resort and Daycare. He’s just a regular at the Daycare portion (I am of the opinion that pointers do not need «day spas»).
He comes home tired, happy, and he doesn’t smell like floor cleaner or poop.
These are the things that I seek out: tired, happy, and doesn’t smell like poop.
The upfront staff is super helpful and very courteous, and they are understanding when the moron (you know the one doing makeup/​picking a nostril… while texting… while attempting to «drive») on I-​65 Northbound between Cool Springs Boulevard and Old Hickory Boulevard hits the other unsuspecting idiot driver (because both were on cell phones) and wreaks havoc on my commute back into Nashville after working Cool Springs.
I like that too: understanding for things so completely outside my control that trust me I’m just as frustrated that I cannot get to my dog as I’m sure some of their staff are frustrated I am not there. I like the mutual understanding that we have.
I see a couple of reviews on Unilocal complaining about vaccinations outside the annual vaccinations required by your veterinarian. News flash: I have never, ever, ever visited a dog daycare/​boarding facility in 3 different states that didn’t require 6-​month kennel cough updates and 6-​month updates to fecal examines instead of the annual required by your veterinarian. So, Ohio, Tennessee, and Indiana are all consistent across 10+ daycare/​boarding facilities that require this.

I was SO excited about going on vacation because I could watch my pups on camera and daycare/​playtime was free! No additional charges after boarding! Unfortunately, we jumped through a lot of hoops to join this elite pet club and I was completely disappointed. We had to get extra shots as they’re required every 6 months instead of yearly, but I figured hey, I can appreciate that! Well, I spent a lot of money on vet vaccines we weren’t necessarily in order for, then had to schedule a meet and greet. Like most people, I work, and not only did I have to take off work to bring them in for questioning (like they’re little criminals, ha!), we had to schedule 2 separate appointments for these temperament tests. Wow! They are really something special! I knew I HAD to get my dogs in now. I was more excited about this than my vacation! They’re like the doggie elite club! My pups passed, and I was thrilled. I boarded them for a week and watched from the (paid) app on my phone like the mommy stalker I am, and was disappointed to find they spent the majority of the time in their puppy cell. I literally had my phone pulling up their room automatically and it became a running joke on our trip, the puppies were usually in jail cell 24. The daycare puppies came in at 7:00 but my dogs didn’t join until 9:00, (according to schedule) and were often returned to puppy jail throughout the day for feedings, naps, breathers, etc. and did not come home worn out. I felt ridiculous calling in because one dog was stealing the others food and had to ask that they be fed separately, because they had such little monitoring. Glad someones watching (ME!) OK, so they didn’t have as much playtime as I thought but they’re safe and sound, right? Until they came home with FLEAS. Oh my god, the fleas. Boarding dogs are given a capstar but I guess daycare doggies are not? I’m writing this review from the «comfort» of my couch this morning, as I’ve missed work because we’re bombing our house. My vet recommended an early dose of flea and tick meds, which we’ve done, but my dogs are scratching and chewing their skin off. They are covered in hot spots and are completely and utterly miserable. And I FEEL HORRIBLE. It’s been a month since we boarded there and I am still paying for the repercussions. Doggie jail and fleas! Thanks guys.

I hate giving bad reviews and rarely do it, but my experience with this company was so bad… We have never boarded our two dogs but needed to this weekend for a trip. Usually a friend watches them, but she has a busy weekend planned and we didn’t want to impose.
We take our dogs to belmont animal hospital and absolutely love them and recommend them to everyone, and assumed our experience with the sister pet resort would be equally wonderful. Sadly, that was not the case.
We went for our «interview» on Wednesday and both dogs were deemed friendly and board able – basically pre-​approved. We were told that because our vet was next door, we didn’t need to bring forms about vaccinations etc and that the pet resort would have them sent over for us. How convenient! So simple.
On Thursday we took them for a free half day of daycare as requested by the resort so the dogs could acclimate. I wasn’t thrilled with the facilities, frankly, or the customer service of one of the employees when I dropped and picked up the pups. I was told that my two dogs could not play together because the smaller one (a solid 40 pounds!) was too small for the big run and they didn’t want her to be afraid. I’m respectful of the general preventative action… but my dog isn’t small and holds her own just fine, and it was my strong preference she stay with her sibling. After all, being with him would be what would most help her be at ease! Both are incredibly social dogs that are beloved at the centennial dog park and by our neighbors with dogs. So, that was something that ruffled my feathers right away but I decided to ignore it.
Friday rolls around and we drop the dogs off. At first they had no record of the reservation! Then, they say they don’t have their vaccination records… they hadn’t looked at them or requested them or something, we don’t know why they were unprepared. They tell us they will call over and get them. Then, they say that now they see that the fecal samples were out of date but that they could handle that for us. My husband was with them and he was told he could leave. Then we get a call that one of our dogs came positive for worms (ugh) and they can’t board him of course…
This is literally as we are packing up our car to get on the road. We pick up the dogs, call our friend (who deserves to be sainted) and she’s watching them instead… but it was so so stressful. The level of disorganization was unprofessional and very nearly ruined our weekend! It’s our 5^th wedding anniversary today AND we are going out of town for a friend’s wedding.
I will say they called us back to confirm that the hospital has deworming medication that our friend can pick up for our one dog, and I appreciated them taking that extra step immensely.
We won’t be trying to board our dogs here again.

As a first time dog owner, one of the best pieces of advice someone gave me early on was to make sure my puppy was regularly socialized. I work full time and am single, and so the thought of leaving my puppy locked up in a crate for 8 hours made me realize that doggy daycare would be a wonderful way of making sure my little guy got that much needed socialization. So three times a week Ditch bounces into The Belmont Pet resort excited as can be at the prospect of getting to play with his puppy pals. I can tell by the way he eagerly bounces out of the car, up the steps, and into the door that he LOVES being there. The staff– all of them– are so loving and warm towards him that I have no reservations whatsoever about how they care for him. The facilities are top of the line, and the staff is eager to work with Ditch on manners and social skills when the need arises. I’m so thankful that The Belmont is available for my little guy, and know that he is a better dog for having attended there!

Our dog sitter just recently moved to Florida, so we were forced to find some where else to board our pup when we go on vacation. We have taken him to other places in town, but the majority of them are closed on Sunday for pickup.
After hearing a lot of good things about Belmont Pet Resort, we decided to try it out. I have to say, we were not disappointed, and neither was our dog.
The facility is extremely nice and the staff is very friendly. They really care about your pet and treat them like they are their own. I love how much play time the dogs get with each other while there, it makes me feel not as guilty when I leave.
I knocked one star off just for the price. $ 50 a night is pretty steep, but I guess you get what you pay for. I will certainly be back again.

Went there today to have our 2 mature retrievers temperament tested.
At our home town we have a doggie daycare/.board facility we have used for years. In the beginning, our hometown doggie daycare, wanted our dogs to spend 4 hours with the other dogs to see how the got along.
Our dogs loved it. We have used them for years.
Well, today we went to The Belmont Pet Resort and Daycare to do the same temperament testing. We travel to this city from time to time and thought the pups might like an alternate place to play.
Well their idea of a temperment test is 5 minutes in amongst a pack of barking dogs. When we entered the building the barking was loud.
Our one retriever of course barked, the other one was quiet.
Our retriever that barked was labeled as too fearful after 5 minutes.
She does bark when she feels fear. The younger retriever gets quiet and submissive due to fear.
Obviously our retrievers did not feel comfortable as they were only given 5 minutes to determine whether they liked that barking pack of dogs.
Five minutes is hardly an intelligent approach to evaluate dogs temperament
The place was too loud and unfriendly. Not advisable

As I am now looking for a new pet resort, I’m reminded why I have to– because of the horrible experience I encountered with Belmont Pet Resort. I thought I had found a unique and good facility, until my dog came home sick, both times I boarded her at Belmont. I have a young great dane, who I boarded two times, for 5 – 7 day stays. The first stay– I picked her up with skin irritations on her neck and chest. I had to pay for a vet visit and put her on antibiotics. I didn’t tell the resort about it and didn’t question it, until her second stay– when she came home with an inflamed, raw, crusty eye!!! Her eye was fine when I left her. I admit to you, as I did to them, that she might have allergies and even I left them with «no tears» drops just in case her eyes got red. And I called and asked how she was doing, only a couple of days before picking her up– when they said she was perfectly fine. So, I was horrified to see her condition when I picked her up! I pointed it out to the girl working– she laughed (hopefully out of nervousness). When I called the manager (she didn’t call me) she said my dog’s eye was fine the night before and denied any problem. She instead accused me of being overly protective of my dog. So, I sent the manager a picture of my dog’s eye to prove how horrible it was and how it could not have happened over night. After seeing the picture, she admitted it was bad and offered to pay for whatever was needed to make her better. My vet said to bring her to an ophthalmologist. So, I did. When I sent Belmont the bill– the manager refused to pay more than a regular vet visit. She spoke with disrespect to me, didn’t take responsibility, didn’t apologize, and told me I should find another boarding place for my dog. So, I decided to reach out to the owner, who emailed me quickly and seemed concerned, but didn’t follow up with me. After I put a hold on my credit card payment for the boarding cost, the manager finally agreed to pay the bill.
It’s up to you, whether you want to board your pet here, or not. Belmont can easily hook you with it’s good looks, cameras, etc. and believe me– I am truly saddened by all of this, because it’s difficult to find a good boarding facility. But if you really want what’s best for your pet– comfort, care, protection, and attention… then think twice about going here. You, and your pet, may pay for it– in many unanticipated ways.

Our Maltese, Shelton, is a regular for the groomers here at the Belmont Pet Resort. He has never enjoyed the luxury of the Resort/​Daycare portion, but my interactions with the staff here have always been wonderful.
The only downside has ever been some confusion over when Shelton’s appointment was. It wouldn’t get written down in the book for some reason or another, but after a while they just got so familiar with him that it stopped being a problem. Oh, and be sure to go out the way you came in with the parking lot. Unless you want to end up stuck behind the building. It is a very narrow lot and can make for some interesting attempts at getting out.
Shelton and I completely recommend the Groomers here, the staff is completely wonderful, and based on that I can only assume the Daycare and Pet Resort part is great too.

I’m a first year law student with a very active dog so I desperately needed to find a dog daycare when I moved to Nashville. The Belmont Pet Resort is the second place I tried, and I don’t think I’ll ever try another.
The facilities are great. Lots of room for the dogs (I know because I can watch my dog via webcam!). The staff is super friendly and know my dog as the «one with the mohawk.» They are also really fast at checking you in and out (great when you are in a hurry). The prices for daycare are great and though boarding is a little pricy, it’s worth it.
Most importantly, I have a tired, happy, and not too stinky dog on Thursday night. When I take him out of the car his tail starts wagging and it doesn’t stop!

These facilities are like nothing I’ve seen. The owner had a vision and executed the plan with a wonderful result for all of us to enjoy! The staff is so professional, personable and reliable. I can’t say enough good things about this place!
