A Gentle Solution

Rocky is perfect at what she does. She gets in makes you feel at ease and comfortable and is so fast! It’s so fast you barely feel it! right away my darkened skin and ingrowns started going away. It literally took no time to see a difference. Another thing which is really nice is it feels completely private because it is! Rarely do you ever bump in to someone while you are there. I’ve found Rocky to be quite an inspirational woman so it’s nice to catch up every few weeks.
Joy– who helps with appointments is always so flexible and prompt. She is so helpful when it comes to getting appointments in last minute and changes as well and she gets back to you ASAP.
I’d also like to say my skin is on the tan darker side and it works perfectly well for me. I’ve never heard Rocky say there would be any issue with that either.

Jackie and Rocky are amazing. I was skeptical about finding a legitimate place to go for lasar hair removal. I originally went to A Gentle Solution by a recommendation from a friend to go see Joy. I fell in love with the place. Lets be honest laser has the potential to be super expensive and also to hurt like hell. However, A gentle solution is reasonable and not terrible painful. They are really wonderful, and I certainly suggest checking them out. I am super happy with the results, and find myself going every few months for a clean up. It is somewhat addicting!

I had gone to this place about 6 years back in the 1^st location on 84^th st (more west, off of Lexington) Where I met a laser tech named Joy… LOVED her I went for about a year and a half. By far best prices & so nice and experienced. She explained everything to me in detail… I hadn’t gone back till about 6 months ago… they moved locations (2 blocks east) and I met Rocky the new laser tech (who is Joy’s step mom) I adore her. She is the most completely thorough person I have ever met… she shares her life and wants to know what I’m up to… Not just banter, but real concern… They’re always booked and I see why!!! Rocky has me looking amazing these days and the prices are still FABULOUS!!! I have told everyone I know about this gem of a place. Thank you, both Joy & Rocky for giving me renewed confidence… I Love A Gentle Solution!!!

Dont go here if you are Indian, Middle-​Eastern, or other darker skinned type. She told me she doesnt have the laser machines to treat that type of hair. She even tried to talk me out of laser hair removal but plenty of people with my same skin tone and hair color have effectively undergone laser hair removal. I wouldve appreciated her feedback but her «know it all,» snobby, UES attitude that came across just didnt sit well with me.

Rocky has reclaimed the hair-​removal throne in Manhattan! Originally her business, Rocky is an RN, and her associate is also. This little gem was originally Rocky’s baby, though I’d been seeing Joy here for a few years.
I’m happy to report I’m as pleased as ever and though I tend to hate change (esp since I loved Joy) the transition was utterly seamless! No taking out a loan to become hair-​free! Your life will change!
***Edit*** whoever said that darker skin tones aren’t treated here might be telling a fib, I have seen some mixed race clients (one the daughter of a celebrity light-​skinned black couple) and I’m a very «downtown» type gal and NEVER encountered any judgey attitude here. Call first and make sure, or have a consultation, but I’m calling BS on that review!

I’ve been holding out on you. And forgive me for being so selfish with my time that I didn’t save you the pain and embarsessment of going to all the other laser places that don’t work. Laser is tricky– it’s really expensive, painful, and can be embarassing, and at the end of the day it might not work. I’ve been to quite a few well known places in New York I thought would be worth a try becaus they were running a special during spa week. $ 50 for something that doesn’t work is a waste. (That’s right Complete Bare.) And thenthank you Unilocal again I found Joy. She’s effective and thorough, effective. The most important thing in hair removal. And on top of that for someone that actually works she’s affordable. And those things make the whole experience a little less painful and embarassing.
I think there is another Gentle Touch– not related!
