NOTE: They are also known as Legacy Cleaners. I’m convince they have to keep changing names for some nefarious reason due to how terrible and shady they are. This is the dry cleaner at corner of 148th&8th(Frederick Douglass). Like some of the reviewers below, after several years of them losing & destroying my clothing, I’ve had to give up the convenience of the location & just go to another dry cleaner. I posted pics of what happened that was the final nail in the coffin. After they ruined my clothing, and I was justifiably mad, all the guy at the counter could say was: «it’s not like it’s the first time». He was completely unapologetic & just kept repeating that’s this is happened before, so I guess he didn’t understand why I was upset? And he had no answer as to why they would even return a item to me like that in the first place. Then came the run around. Weeks of calling, no return calls, finally took me standing in the lobby for 45 min until closing time for the manager to call me back & give his contact info, & for him to finally agree to reimburse me. And despite acknowledging that the item was essentially brand new & only worn once, & limited edition, he would only agree to a fraction of its cost due to what he called«depreciation». He said if I wanted the full cost«sue me!» No one has time for that or any of this nonsense. And it doesn’t end there, then for weeks I had to deal with the old adage«the check’s in the mail». Took daily phone calls to his personal cell for him to finally cut me a check. They also never responded to BBB’s inquiry about the situation. So if you want to deal with all of the above, this is the place for you, otherwise find another dry cleaner, it’s not worth the headache when they inevitably F you over.

I’ve dealt with these guys for years and finally decided to give my business to Supreme Cleaners instead. After many disappointing things that were fixed by their helpful manager, recently had my pants bleached. I’ve been trying to get my money refunded which the manager said he would take care of. But I’ve been back over 3 times in the last month and every time I’ve asked them to call me and no one ever has. Bad customer service and response rate and cleaning is overpriced for level of service.

Although they will take special care to deliver your clothing exactly as you would like it, after five + years, one always has to remind them each and every time: Tiresome to always have to say please «no safety pins in my garments, please fold don’t hang, tissue paper padding for shoulders on wire hangers, etc) … The alterations are way too expensive and the seamstress, being older, can be difficult and hard to communicate with.

My husband and I just moved into the neighborhood and, after reading terrible reviews of another nearby laundry, decided to give Aphrodite(well, it says Aphrodite Cleaners on the awning but all of their receipts and business cards say Legacy Cleaners) a try for simple wash and fold service. They did a good job. Not great, but good. I’m giving them 3 stars because I think that some of the clothes that had dirt stains could have been cleaner, some of the clothes were not folded super neatly, and because of these two big negatives: It cost $ 1.50/lb!!! I never, ever have heard of wash and fold at such a high price. Even down the in the West Village you can find places that do it for 60 cents/lb. They did let us know the price ahead of time but that is a big turn off to going back there. Also, we dropped off the laundry before 9:00am on a Monday and were told it should be done by 5:30pm on Tuesday! In my experience, most wash and fold places are dependable in getting your stuff done on the same day if you get there early enough. It seemed ridiculous to me that it would take so long. All this goes to say, we will not be using their services regularly but it’s good to know that it is a dependable option if you’re not in a hurry and have the extra money.

They’re definitely pricier than other places in the neighborhood but it’s cleaner and you don’t have to worry about dealing with someone with an attitude. They give you a head’s up about the price before you leave and they take credit and debit cards.

The worst experience you can ever have with dry cleaners. Apart from horrible customer service i.e., rude, unprofessional, and refusal to answer any phone calls, they failed to deliver dry cleaning on time, destroyed an expensive dress shirt, and wrecked an expensive gown that needed hemming by cutting it too short despite repeated and specific instructions for tailoring the gown. Forget trying to seek redress with respect to your damaged clothes. They are unresponsiveness and will give you the runaround. Save your clothes and headaches and go somewhere else.
