Having the foresight back in 1995 to capitalize on the craft beer movement that has simply exploded in the last 5+ years is enough to earn them 5 stars. Blind Tiger is one of the OG pioneers of the craft beer scene. The space isn’t that large, but there are some nice tables around along with a fireplace perfect for the cooler weather. They have an awesome selection of 30 tap beers, which makes them a great place to grab a drink especially if you are waiting to eat elsewhere. Although I understand they have a killer menu that I haven’t a chance to try. So why 4 stars? Not a big fan of being ignored by the bartender who had time to flirt and talk to the guy sitting directly next to me then proceed to walk away lackadaisical. I know I have that resting bitch face thing going on, but I swear it wasn’t towards you! Luckily another bartender took pity on me and served me as soon as he looked my way. Anyway, I doubt you will have the same experience as me(you’re too cute!) go and have a drink at a true original!

I asked for a sample of a beer before I decided. I was given a small sample, and charge $ 9. I’m fine with it being a unique small pour beer if that’s what I expected, but tell me that in advance, or tell me it’s not available to sample. Don’t let me order a sample and hit me with a full price beer when closing my tab. Not cool. Had I know I would have ordered something I would have enjoyed. I ordered a sample to try something new.

If I’m in the West Village, I always try stop in. I recommend first checking out what they have on cask. The most recent visit, there were two excellent IPA’s to choose from. But then check out the extensive draft list on the board. Wow. It doesn’t get better. Not surprisingly, this place is often packed, but it’s worth dealing with the crowd. I’ve tried various food items here, and all were fine, very good pub food. As someone else commented, the ideal is to get a seat in the window and settle in with a few rounds.

This place is special, in fact, I would rate it as my favorite bar in New York. The bar has a nice quaint neighborhood feel. It kind of sneaks up on you as you walk to it. The service is excellent and the beer selection is great. Before dinner at L’Artusi, my wife and I enjoyed some Hill Farmstead Edward. I will be back.

Best F’n beer bar on Bleeker. Good peeps. Lost my wallet here 2 years ago and the bartender made sure I got it back. If you like beer you’ll love this place. Period. The end.

Super friendly and chill environment! This is our usual spot every time we visit! Awesome selection of beers on tap and the food is also great. I love how in the winter months they have the fireplace going, makes the ambiance just so cozy even though its a bar.

Great down to earth atmosphere and expansive list of rotating beers. The bartenders are really friendly and talkative. Blind Tiger also has great bar food. My favorites include the wings, pulled pork, and lamb burgers.

Enjoyed a couple of beers at Blind Tiger after brunch on Sunday with another couple. Love this place! The atmosphere is very chill, the craft selection is on point, and the staff is super knowledgable. I think they recently had a jacks abbey tap take over bc lots of jacks on tap. Usually hard to find in these parts. Beers are somewhat on the pricey side, but hey it’s Manhattan. There was plenty of seating and they had a fire going which added to the ambiance. This is by far one of our favorite craft beer bars in the city and the fact that it’s in the village makes it even better. Will miss this one with our upcoming move to Texas!

What everyone else said. Also, even when it’s crowded AF, they take good care of you. Here’s an extreme example: It’s crazy crowded on a weekend. Four of us can barely elbow our way to the bar to order. Yet we’re still drinking our beers within 5 minutes. Then, two young women come in and ask for«Oh, I don’t know, maybe Bud Light?» My compatriots and I look at them like they have three heads. The bartender, though, sincerely tries to find them a nice thin lager that they might enjoy. Doesn’t even come off as condescending. I was blown away by his professionalism in handling folks who, by all rights, should have known instantly that this isn’t their watering hole. So yeah, they have real pros there, and they make you feel welcome.

Stopped in only because of the name. Large beer selection. Okay service, not too chatty. They do have food, which looked okay. I wasn’t hungry so didn’t eat.

Ahh the Blind Tiger. I have been here a handful of times now and it is always a good time. If you are a beer lover, then this is the place for you. I usually visit these guys, whenever I am in the city. Not only do they consistently have great local beers on tap but their prices aren’t too bad for the city. The bar tenders are also pretty attentive and their location is perfect for a night of bar hopping and just a few blocks from the PATH train. Be forewarned that it is a small bar which means it can get packed easily. If you come on a Friday or Saturday night, you can expect to be shoulder to shoulder with everyone inside; however, stop by during the day, and you have a nice, cozy bar. I have not yet tried the food, but will surely check it out one of these days as I know I will be back. P. S. John’s Pizza is right across the street. If you haven’t been, consider this time to kill two birds with one stone.

Here’s your gameplan for Blind Tiger: 1. Come between noon and 5 p.m. Any time after and you’ll be stuck dealing with a horde of NYU bros, and won’t be able to hear yourself think about all the beer you’re about to enjoy! 2. Sit at the bar. Order one(or two! or three! you’re an adult!) of the many craft beers available on draft. 3. Enjoy pleasant chit-chat with your friends and the bartender. Browse the food menu, but know in your heart that you’ll order the grilled cheese… because it’s really THAT good. 4. Soak it in. The beer, the food, the ambience. It’s perfect. 5. Drink yourself into a sleepy stupor, then pay your tab so you can go take a nap. Game. Over.

What are you doing reading this review when you can be drinking delicious beers at blind tiger! I’ve been here many times throughout the years but never with my infant daughter(for lunch). The staff never once looked at me with that«baby in the beer bar?!» look. Every staff member have her a smile and made us feel welcome. The drafts were well chosen and the lines are clearly cared for.

Great NYC dive bar. Intimate, lots of wood and accents. It’s dark but that works for them. It does get busy, quite busy. Seating is limited. Drinks are served pretty fast though and they have quite the list of beers. Good place for socializing.

When your two friends who are actually in the beer business wholeheartedly endorse and tell you that the Blind Tiger is the place to go for amazing beer in New York, you listen up. Turns out, they know what they are talking about. I’ve seen«cozy» appear in a number of reviews, but it is truly a good description for this bar. It’s not flashy. It’s not snooty or presumptuous. It’s a small spot tucked onto a corner that just happens to serve some incredible beers. Lined with wood and kind of dark, it’s kind of an old school vibe that immediately makes you want to take off your coat and tuck into a pint or three. We sat up at the bar and found the bar tenders to be friendly, knowledgeable and quick to deliver your next beer. The menu is up on a couple of chalk boards above the bar, and there are so many amazing options that your brain will kind of freeze. You’ll spot one you like and order up, and just as you are taking your first sip, your eyes will fall on some other magical option and you’ll already be planning your next drink. Rinse and repeat. Over and over. If you are a beer lover or have friends who are beer lovers, this is the place to go. Just plan to spend a good amount of time and money here. And best to walk, take public transit or a cab home. I’m told the food is good though we did not have the luck to visit prior to the kitchen closing. The bar is open until an obscene 4 a.m., so you have plenty of time for a nightcap. We will definitely be stopping by any time we are in the city.

I was looking to grab a drink and somehow stumbled upon this place. It was a Friday night, and it was packed. Ever taken the subway in the morning? Yeah, it was packed like that. Obviously, I had to stand, except I didn’t have to grab a subway pole for balance. The only thing I had to balance was my chocolate stout beer(at least I think that’s what it was called). It was an extremely heavy beer that kinda reminded me of chocolate. I usually avoid manly dark beers but this was recommended by a gf and was wonderful. The beer selection here is pretty good, take your man here and he will enjoy it.

Love the chimney, the cozy atmosphere and their really good beers. It was perfect to be prepared for a Saturday night. I would recommend not to come too late because it gets crowded after 7pm

28 Biere vom Fass. (25.10.2008)
