The takeout lunch portion was good — enough for two meals. But the condiments are watered down and the mango lassi has a medicinal, artificial taste. The tikka masala tasted a bit like canned tomato soup. If you’re desperate and starving in Che, get it. But if you want great quality, go somewhere else.

Food was really good! Best Indian food I’ve ever had? No. But it was perfect for an easy, casual night.

This is my GOTOSPOTFORINDIANFOOD — take out or dine in. Awesome service, great prices, and excellent menu. I love everything they have. And to top it all off, the décor inside is amazing. CHECKITOUT.

How the heck have I missed this place? I have walked up and down Bleecker probably 50 times since moving to NYC and have never seen this place before. In fact, I even doubted its existence to the person that wanted to go there. Anyway, Ghandi Café does exist and does serve Indian food. I know, because I went there. It is a small, cozy little place with a charming atmosphere and a friendly staff. We came on a Saturday night and is was packed. We both got chicken tikka masala. It was very tasty and the sauce was rich and flavorful. It also came with a side of naan that was very good as well. The service here was pretty good, too. Who knew? A decent Indian place in the West Village that I have never seen before.

This is a cute little spot, but the food is quite average. My main dish(chana saag) was good, but not great. The naan was slightly cold. The masala chai was basically just water. Service was fine.

This has to be the worst Indian in the neighborhood. Half of my meal was overcooked and burned and the other half was lackluster. What’s more, the delivery man was unsatisfied with his tip and asked me to go back into my apartment and get more cash. Maybe, the brick and mortar is more impressive. But, I don’t think I’ll be patronizing this place ever again.

I love this place! Stumbled upon Ghandi Café back in college *cough cough two years ago* and have been returning since! The guys who run this joint give it that small mom n’ pop feel and they want to make sure you’re happy and enjoying their food. The lunch specials are on POINT. You won’t be disappointed. I’ve always heard from my friend that their delivery service + dinner rocks. So that’s five stars from both of us. Weeee

Great food and awesome atmosphere. Got the Dinner for 1 which is an appetizer(samosa and pakora) entrée(chicken tikka masala/rice/naan) and dessert(rice pudding + chai) was 15.95 The samosa was great, naan amazing the rice was plentiful and fragrant and the masala was good. Dessert items were ok. Good food and fair prices for the west village. Will return!

This place is awesome! Finally I found a cheap, non-shitty Indian place in Manhattan!(I have found most any Indian places in Manhattan to be disappointingly bland and overpriced). For 55 bucks, my lady and I had 3 kingfisher beers, samosas, a cheese puff app, two entrees, raita, naan, and complimentary dessert and tea. The entrees tasted home-cooked and fresh, the naan was so crispy and thick you practically need a knife to cut it, and the servers were polite and speedy. Ghandi café feels like a «hidden gem» and is great for a home cooked Indian meal in a friendly atmosphere. I will be back soon!

I think it’s a great place! Went there with a friend and we both ordered the three course menu for about 19 $. I had chicken, she had the vegetarian version. The menu includes a starter, a hot meal with rice and for desert an Indian rice pudding. It all comes with papadam and dipping sauces. Didn’t really care for the pudding, but the rest was delicious. It was a lot and an Indian chai even came with the menu. The service was good and very friendly. The atmosphere is great as well. The red lighting reminds of a certain exotic environment ;-) but is otherwise very cozy. It’s not a hipster place, but it was great food and a great time we had at the Ghandi café!

Great price for some exceptional Indian food. I have Sikh friends who come to visit from the UK and I can honestly say the chef’s culinary creations at the Ghandi Café are equally as delicious and satisfying as the dishes my Sikh friends prepare at my place. The Naan bread is perfectly cooked and tears apart like a good naan should and not at all rubbery as I’ve experienced at other places here in the City. I ordered the Malai Kofta and naan the first time I ordered. So, tonight I’m also adding a meat-filled Samosa which I’m sure will be every bit as lovely as the entrée. I highly recommend you try them out if you love authentic Indian food.

Excellent food here. Haven’t been here yet but I always get delivery. Naan tastes so fresh. Chicken tandoori is so flavorful. Their mango lassi is the Bomb! Love their veggie samosa. And delivery guy is very polite. Always on time too so no complaints.

What an inexpensive gem in the heart of the west village! The place looks like a long archway decorated with soccer memorabilia and Indian traditional deities. The staff kindly and warmly welcomes you and sits you down in the burgundy long room and you are transported. They have the best prix-fix! We went for dinner for 2 and only paid $ 34 filling happy, stuffed and satisfied! For $ 15 you get a samosa and another fried item made of shredded veggies, you can pick a meat, a fish or a vegetarian entrée, it comes with naan bread and basmati rice, then you have a rice pudding and traditional tea with milk to finish. The food is great! The samosas were traditional, deep fried and would have suffice as an entire meal Haha! The other fried thing was even better! For entrée we had the chicken tikka masala in a creamed tomato sauce and the grilled marinated lamb! Both dish were fresh, bursting with flavored and filling. The side rice dish was enough to feed a family of five and the fresh naan bread dipped in the tikka sauce was a trip for your taste buds! Finishing an already delicious meal with a sweet and creamy rice pudding was very cool. Would love to return when the Indian fever strikes again or order a delivery! Highly recommend!

The food was excellent and so reasonably priced. We received complimentary poppadoms with dipping sauces after we placed our orders. The garlic naan bread is amazing. Highly recommend the korma. I had the chicken korma and it was incredible. Great atmosphere for friends. Small location so may be difficult for parties larger than four. After your meal, you are given some free rice pudding and tea. Extremely happy to have found this place.

Romantic atmosphere for Indian food — good date spot. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming. They didn’t give us the flatbread like they did other tables, but brought it over with our order of Naan. The Naan was great, couldnt complain and we enjoyed the Samosas as well. Wine was well price probably around $ 25 a bottle. It’s a bit of a tight spot so I was surprised when they gave us a table for 4 even though we were only 2. The Chicken Tikka Massala looked different than anywhere else I have had it, lighter in color and more tomatoey. Not so much pizazz. The bigger problem was the rice-undercooked! Making the meal, underwhelming. They give you a mango yogurt for dessert but it tasted like nothing. They also give you some chai tea which was fairly tastless as well. What a bummer! I remember really enjoying this place about 10 years ago. Maybe I had a less refined palette back then. At least its pretty cheap for the area.

Do not come with more than 4 people. Although we sat 7, it was not comfortable and I just felt like we were in their way. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala that I get everywhere I go and the Garlic Naan that I also always have to get. I know Tikka Masala is generally more on the sweet side but it was really sweet here. The menu said this was going to be mild but I wish they would have let us pick the spice level. I also tried the Shrimp Vindaloo and Lamb Vindaloo. Now when the menu says«very hot» for these, they are not kidding! I am not sure where this spice level rank with other restaurants we’ve been through but my friends were having a hard time with this and was red in the face but it was still good! You just had to be able to handle it or counter it with some Tikka Masala. Hahh I was disappointed by their garlic naan or just naan in general(my friend had a plan one). It was super puffy/bubbly which is how I like my pizza but I like my naans flat and crunchy. I think there were 3 people, 1 that seemed like he was the manager, running tables and a full house. It took 15 minutes and 4 asks to get our bill. We really wouldn’t mind sitting longer if we were not in a rush to get to our bus. They did offer us rice pudding and tea as an apology but we REALLY didn’t have time. They brought out the rice pudding and we scarfed it down. It was pretty good but we had to go! Bye bye!
