Blo Blow Dry Bar

The place is clean and nice, but I had a really bad experience with the stylist. She was extremely rude and clumsy, she burned my scalp and started giving me attitude when I asked her to be more careful. After the blowout I asked her to fix some parts that seemed too flat and again, she was very rude and didn’t really do her job well. I had to go home and restyle.
The stylist working with the girl sitting next to me seemed much nicer and more professional though, so I guess it all depends on who you get as a stylist.

It was a total waste of money and time. The stylist took my request very literally («volume with some wave») and produced a look that was reminiscent of an egg lying sideways. She started to give me attitude when I asked her to just straighten everything out. I had to come home and restyle using velcro rolls, which is what I should have done in the first place.
The space is also extremely cramped. My chair kept banging into the woman seated next to me.

Great blow out bar! I have tried several different stylists and I find them to be CONSISTENT to giving you the look you want from the style menu! I think that is so important for a place like this because you cant always get the stylist you like… so consistency is so important! I have also tried 2 up dos here, from 2 different stylists and BOTH were excellent! One was a high bun and another was the fishtail side braid with volume. Again, I love the fact that you can walk in here and TRUST that your hair will be exactly as you expected, no matter which stylist! Staff here are always friendly and warm. Only suggestion would be if they can offer an option of an «express» service (hair already washed and tried, but you just want them to style or braid it).

I had a great Blo out with Jackie. She listened to my concerns that my hair often falls flat soon after a blow-​out and made the extra effort to use a curling iron and additional product. Even though it was 90 degrees and humid out, my hair still looked great hours later!
I’ve been to Dry Bar several times and been sorely disappointed when my hair was fully flat less than an hour later. Blo by far blows their competition away!

My hair is very hard to straighten, so thinking of going to the salon is stressful already. Mariel Cobo is the best, she is great at perfecting and straightening real kinky Afro hair to straight silky, blowing in the wind tresses. Go to Mariel!

Not a bad salon at all. The price is right at $ 40 before tax and tip. The salon is clean, the vibe is friendly and they give you free mimosas (or just champagne) when you check in!
My hair doesn’t make it easy. There’s a lot of it, but it’s very fine… so I knew that having a traditional curly blow out wouldn’t work for me (especially in 90 degree heat). I got the fish tail braid and asked for them to tease up the hair on the crown so it would have a lot of volume.
The braid looked phenomenal, but I didn’t leave with the hoped for volume on the crown of my head. It looked very sweet, so I didn’t complain, but in my head, I thought it would be more of a sexy, big-​hair kind of look.
In the end, my hair looked great through the night — the braid went well with the event I was going to, so I give Blo a solid three stars!

In New York for the Weekend and had an event so needed a quick affordable styling job! I had been to the Blo in D.C. and saw there was one close to my hotel. Making the appointment was easy and my hairstylist was very nice. They offered champagne, and the salon is very pretty and clean. The only downside was the WEATHER it was horrible and a few hours later my hair did not look like it did in the salon. So my blow out lasted literally about 2 hours.
I can’t blame the styling because it was a rainy windy night but I would have given it a better review if my hair would’ve lasted longer. However, great place to get a quick hair fix while in NYC.

Quick, great service (in and out in 30 mins) but my «holly would» curls didn’t last an hour which was disappointing and a waste of money

Nice and clean salon. My stylist was really nice. I received my champaign, everything was awesome until the hair service.
I did not get the look that I wanted. My hair was dry and barely lasted the day. I highly doubt I’ll come back to this location. I came here to look good and I walked out feeling like I waisted my time.

I just finished getting my hair done by Ali! She’s super sweet and fast. My hair looks amazing and I got the bed head look that I wanted in under 30 minutes. I highly recommend this place. It’s not expensive and they give you free bubbles.
I will be going back as often as I can.

The atmosphere is modern, clean, and fun. Offering champagne at the start was a nice touch. My stylist was nice and although the end result was not quite what I had in mind, it looked polished and well done. However, it lasted about two hours before all the curls fell out and it was a flat mess. I blow out and style my own hair all the time, and when I put in curls they last all day — they may loosen up a little bit between dawn and dusk, but I have never had them completely fall out — so I know it’s not an issue of my hair simply not holding a curl (and in fact my hair is naturally curly).
My two friends’ blowouts stayed in better throughout the day although their hair is finer and straighter than mine. Perhaps their stylists used more powerful products than mine did. It seems pretty important, though, as a business-​wide practice and not just on a case-​by-​case basis, to find a way to ensure that the services you provide will last your customers longer than the time it takes to leave the salon and get to the events for which they got their hair styled in the first place.

When you’re travelling it’s easy to quickly look like a dishevelled kitten wondering around the streets without your supply of hair products, blow dryers and straighteners at the ready. If this sounds like you then you’d do well to visit Blo Blow for a quick spruce up from one of their fun and affable staff.
A blow out will set you back $ 50 (it’s listed as $ 40 but let’s face it, once you add tax and a tip you’re in the $ 50 range). Bookings are easy to place and they’re terrific with pre and post appointment communication, along with emailing your receipt through.
I was after a blow out that would look great three days later. While my hair was certainly still smooth on the third day, it had lost its body by day two which was a bit disappointing, even though I loosely tied it in a top knot over night (my magic trick post blow out). Still, better than looking like a dishevelled animal right?

This was my first blow-​out I’ve received, and I was SO excited to have «movie star hair» for the weekend! Now, a few hours later, my hair is already FLAT and looks like I got out of the shower and let it air dry.
I asked for a combination of the «red carpet» and beachy waves look. The stylist was very nice and we engaged in nice conversation while she washed my hair and started with the drying. However, when she finished, I remember thinking, «that’s it???» It didn’t look bad, but it was not as voluminous or sexy as I had hoped. It didn’t feel like it had any product in it at all, even though I saw her spray and sprinkle some in.
I left the salon, went to dinner, and by the time I got home my hair was flat, thin feeling, and the style is completely gone. How disappointing! I thought I would at least get ONE night out with good hair!
For how much I spent, I expected a result that would last better than something I can do myself. I also purchased a a volumizing product from your product line– so I spent close to $ 75 in your salon– and my style is already gone! Waste of money!
Disappointing– maybe it’s time to try Drybar.

I had a party to go to one night and I had a hair appointment for the same day with my regular stylist. When she cancelled on me a few hours before my appt I panicked a little bit beacuse I had just run a half marathon and my natural hair looked crazy! I had bookmarked Blo on Unilocal a while back because I wanted to try out Ric so I decided to try and book an appointment at Blo for the same day. I booked an online appointment really easily and I had a great experience. My blowout by Ric was awesome and I felt confident and awesome for my party. He really helped me out in a pinch! He’s also knowledgeable about natural hair and gives great tips.

I know this took forever but I must say Blo Chelsea treats me so well every time I go there. From check in to check out, my experience is phenomenal and I’ve only been there about 3 – 4 times. I am a natural kinky/​curly girl and I was so afraid of what would happen once the blow dryer hit my hair. Have no fear! Ric is the best! I have never been in better hands! He even tells you how to maintain your gorgeous mane until the next you see him! Try him out ladies!

I’ve always been skeptical about trying new blow dry bars, but after moving back to NYC and in desperate need for a blow out, I turned to Unilocal.When I read all of Blo Blow Dry Bar’s rave reviews I immediately made an appointment with Ric. The appointment process was easy and hassle free, which is always a good first impression.
I arrived on time for my appointment and was whisked to my chair right away. Ric was a master of his craft, from the shampooing to the straight ironing, the whole experience was amazing. Most important thing is my blow out was the
, my hair hasn’t been this straight since my relaxer days. I’m already looking forward to my next appointment with Ric.

So it was my birthday this Saturday and after a long day at work, I wanted to pamper myself before my night out on the town. I had looked on Unilocal for a blow dry bar because let’s face it, you want to look sexy and beautiful on your birthday (and usually it involves you not doing the work). So after searching the site and looking all the reviews, I settled on this particular location and booked an appointment for me and my bestie for 4 PM for Saturday. I quickly received an email confirmation and confirmed my appointment. However on Friday, I received a phone call stating they had to push back my appointment 10 minutes. No biggie. They then resent an email confirmation to confirm the appointment.
Now as for the experience, I loved it! My friend and I walked in and we were greeted warmly and told our stylists would be with us in just a few minutes. I didn’t have to wait long until Tremel came over and introduced himself to me. I sat in his chair and had a quick consultation. I told him I was torn between two styles, Holly Would and Pillow Talk and asked for his help. He told me he would give me the volume of Holly Would with the tousled curls from Pillow Talk. I was totally game. I got shampooed and Tremel asked me if there was a special occasion I was celebrating and I told it was my birthday that day, to which he told me we needed to celebrate with a nice glass of champagne. After he towel dried my hair, the blow drying process began. Of course I did get my glass of champagne.
Let me just say this, Tremel was amazing. I know there have been some bad experiences with some reviewers here, which made me a little nervous but he totally made me feel at ease and I felt I was in great hands. He took the time to make sure that my hair looked fabulous. It’s the second day and my hair looks even better!
Would I go back? Yes I would. I would definitely try to get Tremel again just because I loved how fabulous he was and also the wonderful work he did on my hair.

I absolutely LOVE Ric, he’s the only stylist in NYC that can maintain my natural 4b/​c hair. I’ve been natural for 5 years now and I had to resort to weaving as a protective style due to the lack of great stylist in NYC. I was recommended to Ric and I’ve been faithful to his chair since. ASK for Ric you won’t be disappointed. He’ll make your experience worth while.

To properly kick off my 30^th (!!!) birthday weekend, Courtney treated both of us to a blow out at Blo Chelsea. I’ve walked by this shop and many other blow dry only salons many times but never experienced the magic within! This was the perfect opportunity to indulge in some pampering!
There is a menu of different styles to pick from and I went with the Pillow Talk aka SEXY BED HEAD! Check out the included Champagne — I’ll drink to that!
