–The first piece of furniture they picked up, they broke, and were not sorry at all.
–They did move my things rather fast (that’s the only reason I’m not giving them one star).
–When they moved items into my new apartment they bumped into every wall and were extremely careless (I legitimately had to catch items before they crashed to the ground).
–They then lost some hardware to my bed, refused to look for it, and again were unapologetic.
–I gave them a decent tip despite the above (think it was 25−30%) the guy asked if I could tip more… I saw at least 1 other person post about this, so be ready for it!
Would not recommend, and will be using someone else to move next time.

Fast, friendly, and took excellent care of my things. I will recommend to anyone I know (unless I don’t like them).

* My rate was $ 165 /​hr for 3 men, 1 of whom was quite chatty
* Minimum time was 4 hours (3 hours moving + 1 hour driving)
* Total amount charged was $ 1100, including boxes for a 1 bedroom
* I tipped $ 200. The immediate response? Maybe you can give a little more? I kid you not.
* I obviously can’t prove it, but things certainly got done faster when I was watching.
They didn’t break anything and were careful. They’re rates seem to vary quite a bit. Try getting the hourly price quote before you even let them know where you are moving from. They were probably the the most expensive option I considered, but because they knew my current building well, I decided to pay for someone with experience, so I knew what I was getting into.

I had to use Divine Movers twice in one week. Once to move a 2Br apt and once to move a few big pieces. Both crews were great arrived on time. Moved quick and efficiently and got the job done without any hiccups. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone in NYC that needs a fast, honest crew to move their stuff.

After settling in to my new place, I just had to write a review. I was quoted for $ 105/​hr for three guys. Everything was set up and even the building insurance was taken care of by them. The men (Felipe’s team) who did my move were amazing. They took very good care of each piece of furniture and with all their supplies wrapped it all up! All my furniture made it to my new place without any dings or scratches :). I’m so happy I used them! They were prompt and extremely professional. I would say definitely use this company. I’ll be using them for all my moving needs.

My family and I moved to a three bedroom apartment on UWS. I reached out to several moving companies to get quotes. Divine Moving & Storage gave us a good hourly price and was very easy to deal with so we went with them. I exchanged a few emails with David regarding the insurance certificates in advance of the move and he was very responsive. Our moving day came and three moving men showed up promptly. They were very efficient and treated our belongings with care. They didn’t waste any time and were very professional overall.

I learned of Divine Moving and Storage through the Better Business Bureau site.
I filled out a form through the BBB site to Divine Moving and Storage, and I followed up with a phone conversation to Divine Moving and Storage two days later. I spoke to Dana.
I had two concerns; both were noted on the online form submitted through the BBB site, but Dana argued that I never provided the two details of utmost importance regarding my move to her during our phone conversation.
My concerns were:
(1) The move had to occur between 10am and 1pm, on April 29, or I would be penalized $ 1,000 by my building
(2) I needed access to my property. I needed to confirm that the integrity and value of my property would be maintained by the storing facility, and I would need to check on my property while in storage.
Dana assured me the facility was secure and that the movers could move me within the timeframe indicated, provided my goods were packed when they arrived. I told her all goods to be moved would be packed when the movers arrived.
April 29, the first words out of the con artist-thug’s mouth, who arrived to move my goods, were: we will not be able to move you within this time frame.
As he continued on to relay his plan to accomplish the move, he revealed that I would not have access to freely inspect my property because my valuables would be subject to an open storage arrangement.
I was irate.
I called Divine Moving and Storage, ultimately I spoke with Dana. She said that she told me about the storage arrangement, and that she has been doing her job for twenty years — this first assertion is untrue, and the later has no bearing on the conversation in question. I directed her to look at my written communication to Divine Moving and Storage, and the written confirmation of my move details: I would never submit my valuables to be subject to an open storage warehouse that I did not have access to and could not inspect as needed to be assured that my goods were protected and their integrity maintained.
She suggested I Google another storage facility for them to move my goods to — at 9am! I informed her that I needed to vet the storage company, and it wouldn’t suffice to just Google another storage company or even trust a BBB rated company — that is how I ended up in this predicament.
I am a law student. I rely on what I see in writing, such as, the move confirmation from Divine Moving and Storage, which does not specify that property is stored in an open facility. I also relied Divine’s rating under the Better Business Bureau, and have made a complaint with them.
Faced with having to pay a $ 1,000 fine plus possible legal action for not moving out on time and preventing the new owners from taking ownership, I continued with the move.
The con artist-​thug moving man, then told me he would not be able to move my goods as packed; he said some of the boxes were too small. I had repacked my blender and other kitchen appliances into their original cases, but this thug insisted that I pay for boxes from their truck to store the smaller boxes, and I was forced to do so.
Three moving men arrived: The con-​artist-​thug did all the talking; a large man who didn’t seem to understand what FRAGILE meant; a tall thin gentleman, who was very polite and the only one who earned his pay and tip that day.
What happened to my large furniture being covered with blankets — FREE of charge, per the move confirmation?! I couldn’t say anything more because they had possession of my property, and I feared what would come if I didn’t submit to this blatant raping of my wallet.
Between all three men repacking, covering, disassembling my bed, and moving my property from my apartment to the move truck, it took 1.5 hours (9:30 — 11am).
The con artist-​thug came up (at 11am) when they had loaded the truck and told me that although the minimum charge was 3 hours of service for three men plus 1 hour of travel, he would have to charge me an additional hour.
I was charged $ 420 for 4 hours of labor; $ 105 for 1 hour of travel time; $ 99 for 1 month of storage; $ 32 for a toll; $ 98 for boxes for a total of $ 754. To add insult to injury, the con artist-​thug had the audacity to tell me that a tip was customary. Under duress, and in fear of what he would do to my property in his possession, I gave him $ 140 tip to be split between the three men.
He then asked me to sign something stating that my property was not damaged when it arrived at the storage site. I refused since I would not be able to inspect my property and had no way of ascertaining the condition upon arrival to the storage site.
After lodging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, I received a partial refund as requested for funds wrongfully taken from me. Additionally, I received a scathing written response from the company in which they asserted untrue and slanderous allegations, but was unresponsive to the concerns stated in my complaint.
This company is unprofessional.

Just finished a move with a three person crew — Daniel and his team were awesome. Super fast, professional, efficient, and friendly. They know how to move things efficiently, wrap stuff to protect it, etc. Price was reasonable and we compared with a few other movers before booking. They made the headache of moving in NYC much easier!

David Cohen is an honorable, honest business man. I would use this company again. He refunded me $ 150; he handled the certificate issue very well; he listens to customers’ complaints.

I’m not sure if this is par for the course in NYC (since I’ve only moved within another city before), but it took 4 men EIGHT hours to move me from a one bedroom apartment into another one bedroom apartment.
This is after I had packed everything already. These men were merely moving boxes from my apartment (with an elevator!) to their van, to my new apartment (also in another elevator building). in the end, I spent much more money than if I had gone with a flat rate moving company. Save yourself the grief and go with another moving company.

Divine Moving has always been a great experience. I have used Divine a few times for corporate moves and the experience has always been positive. The team is efficient, considerate, flexible, and professional. They were able to help us move out of our office space in the minimum move time and also allowed us to store our belonging for a month with the company until we were able to move into our new office space. Thank you again Daniel, Vincent, and Brian for a smooth transaction. We will continue to use Divine in the future for our moving needs.

David — You seem genuinely interested in my negative experience. But I did not receive an email from you. In browsing Unilocal I recently saw your response.
The move from PA to NY happened in Jan/​Feb. 2012. I called the very next day to complain about my experience because it was so shocking. I was told that you/​someone would get back to me. I never heard back from anyone.
As I was browsing Unilocal back in June and saw an ad for your company — I saw similar complaints and was angered and disappointed that others were still having the same poor experience — sporadically. So I wrote my review.

After three misfires with three very shady moving companies, one of the passerby neighbors overhearing my conversation with Jakop the doorman, chimed-​in and said call Divine moving. Not only were they very easy to deal with, their pricing was fair. The most professional moving service I’ve ever used.

Zero stars. I used this company because they are the preferred mover for my building. I got a quote of $ 105 per hour for 3 person team subject to 4 hour minimum. It’s a 1 bedroom apartment. Their Dispatcher approved an approximate 3 hr window for the move, only going 8 blocks. When the team arrived on the move date, I was told about all the extra costs. TV box $ 30, small boxes $ 10, I pay for any parking tickets, etc. none of this was disclosed at time of booking. Most of my stuff was already packed however they like to put EVERYTHING in boxes. Completely dissatisfied with companies that do business this way. Based on my discussion, I expected this move to cost approximately $ 500. I had a quote from a fixed rate mover. I should have listened to him. I Strongly discourage people from using this company.

First, a caveat: I don’t believe in a 5 star moving company. It’s just not possible, as the process is too fraught with anxiety, fragile valuables, and tight spaces to ever achieve 100%, 5 star satisfaction. So, if I’m being scrupulous in my ratings, these guys are not 5 stars. They are, however, roughly 4.8 stars, and I rounded up for the Unilocal community.
I had to move out of my place of 18 years (!!!) in the City, and lo, my plans to self move with my buddies… well, let’s say I decided to hire movers and keep my friends. It was very last minute, as in, the day before I had to get out, and David (the head honcho) gave me a reasonable quote and google had them highly rated, plus I really had no other options, so I went with Divine. I’m very happy I did. Three guys showed up with a giant truck and got to work immediately after introducing themselves and discussing the scope of the job. I had done some significant prep work, ie. putting 5000+ vinyl records in boxes, having some sort of an inventory, and generally packing up the apartment into semi-​sturdy boxes. Not a lot of loose items that they had to concern themselves with. They did have to pack up some furniture, specifically Lucite desks that I had designed years ago for my (now defunct) studio. All of this was going to Central America, so there was grave concern on my part about how well it would be protected. Oh, and there were about 35 framed paintings and photos that I totally forgot to tell them about.
DM took it in stride, packed up the furniture professionally, and produced a host of thick cardboard boxes of the type which are definitely not available at your local packing supply store (what’s up with that, btw?), consolidated and protected all my art, and cleaned out my place very quickly (about 3 hours). I wish I had contracted with them to do all of it, instead I hired some CL idiots for the local component of the move, and of course, they never showed. (Jake and your movers, go fuck yourselves.)
DM took my stuff to their facility in the Bronx (some super nice warehouse they probably got for a song 10 years ago), and shrink wrapped and otherwise secured the goods. This wasn’t your typical move – I had a container coming to their place and they were going to load the container, so it was all included in the price of $ 1100 that I had agreed upon. So it was a pickup, a brief store, a protect/​wrap, and then a load, type of job. When I added about 20 boxes plus the art, they only charged me $ 100 more and the cost of the boxes (about $ 75). Then, when it turned out my bill of lading was untrustworthy (blame your narrator), David quickly got his B/​L over to my export/​import firm and now I am fairly confident that my goods won’t spend the next ten years in purgatory in a humid costa rican customs hall. Fairly.
All in all, a polite and efficient crew who saved my ass and made what is doubtless one of the most stressful of human activities manageable. Axel, the lead mover, was very helpful and explained all the costs that my lack of preparation incurred, and where they had saved me time and money. I even showed up the next day at the Bronx facility with about 15 extra items that weren’t part of any agreement with them, and they packed them all up and protected them (and put them on my container) for no extra charge. Pretty cool.

I’m giving this 2 stars as their business is very deceptive. Don’t believe the quote you get. I gave a very detailed list of my belongings to move, and David, the owner quoted $ 600 – 800, but it ended up being $ 1300! I didn’t even have a couch I was moving. And all elevators in each building. They charge 1 hour of travel time just to get to you. That’s before they come over. Then — although David denies this, they make you sign for paying for their parking tickets!!! I asked him about this as I read it here from another reviewer and he denied. Nope — as soon as they arrived, that was the document. And of course, David didn’t answer the phone.
I seriously question the number of boxes the guys supposedly used and charged me for. I had boxes I packed, and boxes were put into their larger boxes! Unreal. While the guys moved quickly and didn’t damage anything, I was clearly ripped off here.
Would not use these guys again.

FAST and efficient.
Not much for small talk or congeniality, but these guys get the job done. They showed up precisely at 9 am as scheduled, all three movers flew up and down a five story walk up and emptied my fiancée’s studio apartment in time to make it to the UWS and unpack everything within the promised 3 hours.
No booties for the shoes, but we both have hardwood floors, so not that it mattered. Good of them to throw in a few extra boxes (incl. wardrobe boxes), and packing of furniture (incl. the TV) was done carefully and moved safely.
Everything made it through, and nothing was broken. No time was wasted, and everything was completed according to schedule. And to me, that is all that matters. Would definitely use them again!

Divine Moving and Storage are professional, friendly and consistent. I have used their service on 10 different occasions and each and every time they’ve exceeded my expectations.
(I haven’t moved that many times — I work for different families managing their projects which explains the amount of times I have hired them.)
Anyway don’t bother hiring another mover — you’ll be disappointed. This company is truly outstanding.

Good experience overall, for sure.
They arrived a full hour early to ensure good parking. That’s good — except that I wasn’t home! (Luckily, they didn’t charge for the extra ½ hour they were waiting for me, before my scheduled time.)
Bene, the leader of a four-​person team, was very professional and willing to check in with us before making big decisions about packing. For example, we were a bit wary of being charged for boxes for, say, small items. (My fiancé and I ended up putting some of the smaller items in our own car to prevent paying for their larger boxes.)
Everyone on the team worked hard and did a great job making sure not to damage our stuff.
On an off-​peak day, a crew of four people was $ 135/​hour. We spent $ 50-​$ 100 ultimately on boxes and packaging ($ 40 worth went toward wrapping up our mattress, a cost we hadn’t anticipated). Also, note that the minimum of 3 hours of work plus 1 hour of driving means that you are charged for the 1 hour of driving, even if it doesn’t take an hour to get between locations.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Divine, but I would do what we did again — bring some stuff in our own car to avoid additional costs and maybe getting a clearer understanding of the additional costs that we accrued ahead of time.

The owner of Divine Moving was good enough to contact me via Unilocal*after I posted a review reflecting my frustration with a phone call.
While I haven’t used their service, (they don’t do moves out of state unfortunately), the customer service from the owner was above par and SO much appreciated. And from other reviews, it appears as though this is a trustworthy, reliable place to handle your move within the New York metropolitan area. Go for it!
