Eyes On Madison

Just had an eye exam with Dr Park. He was so great. Thorough and clear with explanations and even suggested switching contact brands for slightly better vision due to my astigmatism. They also filled out a DMV vision test form quickly so I could renew my license. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

I have always received prompt and professional service. The eye examination room is just a little cramped but otherwise these are my go-​to people for eye exam and eyeglasses. They also accept my UFT voucher.

Super customer service! After I broke one of the arms of my reading glasses before work today, I stopped in here to see if they could fix them. Not only were they able to reattach the arm quickly, they didn’t ask for any payment! Really nice guys. Seemed to have great selection too.

Mostly a review on the eye test.
— Much cheaper than anywhere else. The basic charge for an eye test is $ 120, and with the Unilocal voucher it’s $ 70. This compares very favourably to other places I’ve spoken to which charge up to $ 175 and can charge more for a joint glasses/​contacts prescription, and more still if you have astigmatism, as I do.
— Appointment was quick to book, on time, and went without a hitch. By comparison, when I initially tried to get tested at a slightly more corporate fancier place, they sought to charge $ 175 and kept me waiting for 20 minutes after my scheduled time.
— Place is little and looks more «family-​owned» than corporate. And the better for it in my opinion. Everyone was lovely and friendly.
The glasses selection has the usual brands, but is a little thin. I plan to go to See/​Cutler & Gross to get something slightly fancier. I plan to get my contacts from there because they seem so nice.

In from out of town and I ripped a contact. George could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Highly recommended!

Great friendly guy! Just walked in to repair my sunglasses that the screw got out and he fixed it in 2 seconds free of charge. Will definitely come back when I need new shades.

I called around 3:15 and they got me an appt. at 4pm. You know when you run out of contacts. It’s like you’re a nerd for a good chunk of time. So I was in desperate need because sweat and droopy glasses were not a good look on me.
I think I just found my new go-​to eye doc. Everyone in the store was really nice, and accommodating. My doc really took his time in making sure I got the proper fitting and prescription. He really listened to my concerns and was a joy to be around (when I said, can I try dailies? He goes «love it!»). He was very patient and giving me samples, just waiting for me to put them in and also test them fit/​power wise again. I found out that I was over power and the proper prescription has truly made a difference. He was really generous with his samples as well. Before I left the salesmen made sure to tighten up my frames before I left.
This place is truly awesome especially in Manhattan. My only slight with them would be the actual doctor’s space which was really small. However, they make it work and also this was the best deal I could find exam wise (a place in Astoria was $ 125 for an exam sans Unilocal deal).
They also have a great selection of frames from what I saw. Oliver’s Peoples, Ray Ban, etc.

They helped me out when I was in a real pinch. Thank you! Need an emergency set of contacts due to an airline mishap. Being a concert musician it’s important to be able to see. They help me out quickly and in a very friendly way.

Polite people, extremely slow service. Took almost a month to get ONE pair of contacts in for me…3 weeks! Can someone please explain how one contact gets to the store first and the other arrives 2 weeks later??? Anyone?
I guess you get what you pay for, they were the most affordable around for contact eye exams ($ 110)…and 3 weeks later still no contacts. THANKS!

The service is top notch, and George is just fantastic. I’ve referred many people here, and they all thank me. Most of all, they stand by their product and service. Go somewhere else and you’ll come running back!

About a year ago, I accepted the fact that I needed reading glasses to avoid making the «grumpy mom face» by furrowing my brow. After a long search, I settled on a pair of glasses that I loved. Unfortunately, I left them in the seat pocket on the plane the other day… Ugh! While in NY, I visited a number of shops looking for glasses that didn’t scream «AARP.» No success. My 5^th stop was Eyes on Madison and they were super-​helpful and friendly. They have a number of pre-​fab reading glasses but I ended up going with an in-​stock frame (Armani Exchange) and they made my new glasses for me in just a few hours. Because they measured my pupil distance (?), these glasses are way better than the ones I lost — much better than a drugstore purchase! They even threw in the anti-​reflective coating for free, which was great. All in, the new glasses were $ 149, including tax, etc. Yes, this is more expensive than «off-​the-​shelf» reading glasses… But these are «real» glasses that I can have new lenses made for later if I want (if my eyes get worse). Even in NYC, I had a lot of trouble finding 1) a stylish frame 2) that could be made on site in a few hours 3) for under $ 250 4) by helpful folks in a small local (non-​chain) shop. Thank you so much, I will be back!

Great place! If you are looking for glasses, this is the place to go. George is amazing (ask for him to help you). He knows what is trending and is very helpful as well as patient. He will give you an honest opinion about how a pair looks on you and provides great recommendations on alternative choices. We even had a mix up when I came to pick up the glasses and George remedied the situation and took responsibility of it.
Plus turn around is very fast at this shop. If you need a new pair in a few days, this is the place for you.

This could have been a one star review, if not for the professionalism and top-​notch customer service I received at Eyes on Madison. After I ordered my frames and lenses in late May, it took much longer than usual for them to be ready. Although the delay was solely due to technical issues with the Zeiss lenses (which had to go through the coating process multiple times), the staff at Eyes on Madison, specifically George, kept in touch with me during the entire process. George even came into the office early in the morning on a non-​business day to ensure the delivery of the overnight package. The long wait was all for the propose of insuring that these lenses were absolutely perfect — which they are! Thank you Eyes on Madison, and an even bigger thank you to George!

Went in here to check out frames. Nice little boutique with a pretty good selection. Staff was very nice.
I do want to note that they carry Chanel which many places do not. They have Prada, Dior, Burberry, Tiffany, Tom Ford, Roberto Cavalli, Oliver Peoples and more.
Also want to note that they do not accept VSP insurance.
I am still shopping around so I can’t attest to actual service but my walk-​in impression was positive.

I don’t have an optician here in NY and I was a little worried about picking one from Unilocal reviews but Dr. Alena Reich put my fears to rest. She was just great. Very thorough. I walked out with a much needed pair of replacement contact lenses and a prescription so I could shop around, save a little money.
George Carter who is an optician also helped me with some questions, etc.
I would highly recommend Eyes On Madison if you need contacts (or glasses!).

I had a great experience at Eyes on Madison today. Making an appointment was super easy, I made it the day before! I arrived 5 minutes late, but was warmly welcomed by the guys in front. The doctor wasn’t the friendliest guy, but nice and very laid back. He was quick, and thorough. I was a little worried when he told me he didn’t have my contacts in stock for me to try out for a week. I’ve been wearing contacts for 12 years, and this is the first time I haven’t tested the lenses before buying. Looking back, I wish he had suggested I try another brand before spending $ 50 on contacts I’ve never tested. Yikes!
The price was great. I bought the Unilocal deal and spend $ 85 total! I will probably go back in the future.
