Green Cleaners

I sent two items to be dry cleaned on ⁵⁄₂₃ and was advised it would be ready for pick up on ⁵⁄₂₇. Great! I had plenty of time because I wouldnt need them until ⁵⁄₃₀.
To my suprise, on ⁵⁄₂₇ when I went to pick up my items, they were closed and a sign out front advised they lost their lease and will now be sharing a space with Great American Wash.
No big deal, its a block away. Suprise! Suprise! My items were not ready. I advised the items are needed for a few days and the counterman promised the items will be ready.
Come the 30^th! Suprise again! They cannot find my items. I was told by the counterman that my items will be delayed and he will waive all costs associated with the cleaning.
I get a call from the owner, Ben, stating he found my item, however they have not been cleaned. He then advises, «I can deliver them to you dirty, if you need them» LOL
Finally, I get a call on 6/​2, advising my items are ready, a full 12 days later. The same counterman advised he couldnt comp the cleaning and I would have to pay full price or he wouldnt release my items.
This place needs a hard lesson in PR.
Dude! this is just bad business and a fast way to make sure you dont receive return business

Worst customer service.
I’ve had 4 pairs of jeans tapered here. I took 3 pairs in at one time, two were done fine without any issues but the third pair still looked too wide at the bottom– I mentioned this to the sales guy and he said «try them at home, you get one re-​do” — which I interpreted as no charge.
Returned a week later for the re-​do. The tailor was present, we reviewed the jeans, he understood what i wanted and the sales guy said, $ 15. I told him i was under the impression ‘re-​do’ meant free– sales guy got REALLY defensive, raised his voice at me! and repeated «i didn’t say free, i never say free, i don’t even say free for my own dry cleaning business»
I have never felt so intimidated as a customer– this low life put me in a tough position because i wanted the jeans completed and anywhere else would charge me walk-​in fee of $ 20+. After standing there contemplating for a few minutes, sales guy spoke to his tailor in Spanish (which i understand) and negotiated to $ 10. I guess they need it more than i do, so i paid.
Returned (Friday) to pick them up after 5 days, they weren’t touched. Sales guy apologized, told me he would have them finished first thing Monday and said next pair i want tapered $ 10.
At this point i never wanted to step foot in there again but the work isn’t the problem, it’s the way these two (tailor and sales guy) treat their customers/​run the business. I brought one last pair in which i picked up today and never shall i step foot in there again! and neither should you!
Two other points worth mentioning:
–Often smells heavily of cigarettes inside
–Sales guy won’t accept card payment for anything less than $ 15

I’ve been going here for about a year.
The tailor is terrific and the gentleman who manages the front counter is polite and professional.
Green Cleaners does not launder, press, or dry clean on the premises and the facility it outsources to is sloppy at best. Too often I have sent shirts back because they were just unwearable with conspicuous wrinkles ironed right into the collar or cuffs. I’m talking about absurd conditions, I’m not being unreasonable.
Additionally, I’ve had items missing numerous times — they just didn’t come back from the processing facility. Worse, I’ve had items belonging to others in my finished laundry.
In sum, I think the gentleman who works the front counter does all he can to ensure customer satisfaction. After a year of patronage I can confidently say it’s not his fault, I’ve observed his efforts as he wrote notes, made phone calls etc.
The quality of Green Cleaners is sloppy at best. I’m positive there isn’t any quality control or oversight. If you are like me and your job (or taste) requires neatly pressed shirts and suits on a consistent basis, look elsewhere for now.
If you decide to give it a shot, keep unimpeachable records of the transaction and note the specific shirts on each ticket. If you don’t like the way something is returned to you, Green Cleaners will fix it at no charge, but it will take a few days.

I brought in a leather bag because I had spilled a bottle of soda on the inside. The leather had a special treatment on it, where it was coated with a type of wax so that you can smooth out scuff marks, and maintain the rich quality of the leather.
First of all, I had to pay up front to have the work done. Slightly frustrating, but whatever, I didn’t have much choice. And it wasn’t cheap.
Then the guy tells me that it would be finished and returned within 5 – 10 business days. I went back within that time frame and was told it still wasn’t done — that they were still working on it. This same thing happened numerous times. I’d either stop in or call on a weekly basis, each time told they were still working on it. To be honest, i really thought they either destroyed the bag or that someone stole it.
I finally got the bag back after about 6 weeks when I went in and insisted that the guy call up whoever it is that was working on it, and return it to me whether it was finished or not. I got it the next day, and it now feels like the protective wax coating is completely gone — and I didn’t take it to have the outside cleaned.
Considering how long it took, the guy at the register who runs the place should have offered to give me at least some type of discount.
I should have done more research to find someone who specifically repairs leather products. I won’t go back to this business. And I suggest that if you are taking something of value to you, that you save your time and money and go elsewhere.

This has been my go to dry cleaners in the area for a while. Until one time they misplaced my sweater for over a month. The moment I got it back, I realized that the leather clasp that holds the sleeves up are noticeably damaged for both arms. Furthermore, the stains I asked them to remove were still there. After a month of holding my sweater, I would think they have ample time to remove any stains. Very upset already, I decided to give this place another shot since it has only been its first offense.
It is not until this weekend, when I went to pick up our custom shirts and black blazer (with faux leather trimming). Not only was the custom shirts not cleaned, the stain itself got bigger. We spoke to the employee/​manager there but it was excuses after another. «Dirt around the cuffs doesn’t come off 100%», «It is still there because the shirt is too soiled», etc.
This is a brand new, never been cleaned shirt, so I did not understand what he meant by «too soiled». He ensured to have it cleaned again and ready for pick-​up Monday. My partner went back to get the shirt at ⁴⁄₂₈ around 4:30pm, but the cleaners do not have the shirt yet. It will not arrive from the warehouse until 6pm. She has an event to go to at 6pm, so not only will she not have a complete outfit to wear, but she will be late to a very important event. This is just overly frustrating. Throughout the whole ordeal, the employee did not apologize. Just excuses after excuses.
The black blazer (with the faux leather trimming) is lost and nowhere to be found as well. The shop employee informed us it is somewhere in the warehouse and can not be located right now. My biggest concern is that the leather trimming will be heavily damaged and I can’t wear it anymore (just like my sweater with the leather clasp on both arms). This piece was purchased in Paris and is impossible to replace.
I am beyond disappointed and angry on the level of customer service and frustrated on how our articles are being LOST and DAMAGED. I am more than happy to take my business at another cleaner who is more reliable and consistent with their services.

I’ve never had laundry done here, but I can’t speak highly enough of the tailor there. I have had a bridesmaid dress, pants and a shirt tailored and have been extremely happy with the results each time.
I thought I needed a lot more done with the bridesmaid dress, but the tailor told me i only needed it taken in and pressed and it would fit just fine, he was right and saved me a bunch of money!
I will say that the customer service at the register is lacking. Last time I went to pick up my clothes, the guy behind the counter continued to play on his phone for a solid 30 seconds before asking me what I needed even though there was no one else there and when he saw me come in he said hello.

Wow, can’t believe the bad reviews here, doesn’t reflect my experience in the least. I am so completely thrilled that these guys are on my corner. Over the past three years of at least weekly if not daily visits they have been excellent. So friendly, prices very reasonable, they’re great. We use them for dry cleaning and tailoring — a lot — mostly repairs but my wife has had some alterations done here too. I have nothing but praise for them. Maybe with a small neighborhood business like this people only write a review if they have a complaint but I’m a huge fan, in my book they get an A — competent, quick, friendly, reasonably priced.

I wish I could give less than one star…
I brought my Ugg boots in on 6÷4÷13.
They were purchased on 3÷10÷13 and only worn once. I was getting them cleaned before I stored them for the summer. They were in perfect condition when i brought them in except for some minor markings on the toe.
When I picked them up I was horrified — the boots (pictures posted) look 5 years old. The stitching is coming out, literally created HOLES in the seams of the boots. The outside suede texture looks as though they dunked them into a tub of water. They feel crunchy and are multiple colors now.
Even Ortez at the desk agreed that they are not as they were when I brought them in to be cleaned. He noted that the shaft stood streight up and they were like new.
Needless to say — this has been SO horrible. I no longer live in midtown so I have to treck back and forth, I have now been there FOUR times to deal with this. They tried to send them out to be re-​cleaned and it only made it worse.
Not sure why they thought additional cleaning would fix the RIPS they put in the boots. They came back worse than the first time.
Everytime I call I get kindly brushed off and told to call back in a week or that the owner needs to approve anything and no one can get ahold of him.
This should be illegal. I will take them to small claims court over this if I have to. I even provided the sales slip to them to show them when the Uggs were purchased. They won’t even refund the $ 40 they charged me to «clean» (or rather attempt to clean. only to DESTROY) my boots.
I am supposed to hear from the owner today… to date no one has called me whenever they say they will… it has been OVER a month at this point… going on 6 weeks here.
Brought in NEW Uggs and got back RUINED Uggs.

I decided to try this place, thinking it would be outstanding given that the minimum wash load is $ 12.50 compare with $ 8.50 at the competition around the corner. When they picked up my laundry, I requested that 2 items be air dried and I was told no problem.
I was charged $ 12.50 for the 2 air dried pieces. And the pieces weren’t even on hangers. And of course I was charged another $ 12.50 for my actual laundry. $ 25 for about 8 pounds of laundry. Would have been $ 8.50 if I’d stuck with M&M Cleaners. When I called to protest, I was told I would receive a «credit» on my next order. If they had offered to remove the $ 12.50 now, I would have considered using them again… however…they didn’t.
And, my laundry wasn’t even folded neatly – not at all, socks weren’t put together, etc. tee shirts all wrinkled. Laundry Fail.

I give them two thumbs wayyy down! Absolutely the worst customer svc ever! I’m still waiting for clothes to be returned– first they didn’t return my whole load and when I inquired about the rest of my load the guy said they found 1 item for sure but not sure about the rest so he would call me. I didn’t here from until the next day and I was the one who had to follow up. Not to mention they ha the NERVE to charge me for the 2^nd load after I inquired about it but before I identified the items!!! I’m still waiting for an additional item bc for some odd reason they sent it off to dry cleaning— im pretty sure they will be charging me for that too… I guess this is what happens when you keep
Cards on file! I’ve been demanding a refund and still no luck:(… It’s the least they can do for all the inconvenience they’ve caused… They haven’t offered anything. I work in the service industry so I’m highly aware of these situations and always expect just the minimum– at this point the situation is regarded as highly unacceptable an intolerable. I recommend no one use these cleaners.

Customer service here is really lacking. When I went in, the guy at the counter was talking poorly about another service that I use in the area (and wasn’t too happy about). He said he used to work there and that he had to leave because he didn’t like their customer service.
Funny thing is, the service at this place is probably worse. After them having my clothes for over two weeks, I called them to find out that my laundry was done and had been sitting there. I thought it was odd that they wouldn’t call me to tell me it’s ready (especially since there was no indication when I had it picked up that 1) I had to call, or 2) when it would be ready). I mentioned that I thought it was weird they didn’t call me and the man on the phone got very defensive in arguing why their service doesn’t include any sort of call that items are ready. There really was no need for that and he could have just said «sorry for any miscommunication.» I’m not sure why it’s so difficult to find a quality cleaner in the neighborhood that caters to a busy New Yorkers lifestyle. These places are expensive and offer worse service than the corner dry cleaners. Might as well support the smaller shops since they’re always appreciative of the business.

This place is TERRIBLE! Not only do they rip you off on their prices but they have lost multiple items without the slightest concern for customer service. They have double charged my credit card and I had to go to the 49^th street location in person to point out the error. Instead of issuing a refund, the guy gave me a credit for the amount. What makes you think I want to use your services again to use the credit?! They are shady scam artists here. I’ve lost multiple articles of clothing using their wash and fold and they also lost one of my couch cushion covers. They never once tried to apologize or compensate me for any lost items. They have horrible customer service and do a crappy job on top of the pricey bill you receive. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!

I don’t know about their laundry service but they do have a really great tailor. I’ve had several pieces tailored there and they all come out great. I also had him do some custom work for me which also turned out great.

as a visitor to New York, staying with friends near Green Cleaners, I read these other reviews with trepidation, but we left a bag of clothes for wash-​and-​fold yesterday, anyway.
We dropped the laundry off around 9 AM, and picked it up around 5:30, no problem whatsoever.

We recently moved and started using this company.
We sent out clothes on Thursday and it is already the following Tuesday.
Inquiring what happened, they have no idea what we’re talking about.
They say they didn’t receive our bag when in fact our security cameras in our building show them taking it out. Now I just went through the rest of our tenants dry cleaning and found 2 out of 7 pieces that were sent out. Obviously they have our clothes it is now in no where land probably with some other random clothes they have in their cleaners.
