Alicia at Hair Queen is a very well kept secret in NYC. Luckily, I was referred by my former haircutter that left town, and am ecstatic with the results. Super chill atmosphere complete with complimentary mimosa, great shampoo, awesome cut and blow out, and fun conversation! Look no further.

LOVE, love, love Alicia.
I’ve been hooked on her mojo for over a decade. I followed her from Mudhoney to her newest sweetest spot on Allen Street.
She is the real deal, born and bred New Yorker, East Village style. Alica has seen it ALL. Truly.
She makes the worlds best ponytail hair. Her cuts grow out fabulously, so you never look shabby. She has masterminded the many incarnations of my hair: short, long, platinum, blonde, brown, red, bangs, sideswipe bangs-​she never does me wrong.
Sad about the horrible cut your friend just got you? Go see her, she will make it better. Promise. (and true story)

I DJ at some very high profile events where I am photographed. (Like the Elton John Oscar Party and the AMFAR party at the Cannes Film Festival). Some DJ friends of mine recommended Hair Queen to me. I asked Alicia to please make me look good. (Not an easy thing to do). I was REALLY happy with what she did. Now I give her free rein and she always comes up with interesting looks for me while still understanding who I am and what my limits are.
As a bonus… Hair Queen is a hell of a lot of fun! It’s always filled with interesting characters (which I love).

RAYYYYYYYYY!!! I can’t even believe how happy I am with the color and cut he did for me :). I went in with already processed hair, that was kind of in bad shape and wanted to do all over PURPLE… so… more processing and more bleach… and somehow I left feeling as if my hair was softer and prettier than ever. The color is vibrant and beautiful and Ray has an amazing positive energy. I am so happy I found this place and so happy I found Ray. Thank you Hair Queen.

I’ve been going here to get my haircut for about 2 years now (since it used to be Dickson Hair Shop).
I always get my haircut from Veronika. Her attention to detail and willingness to listen to what I actually want, instead of giving me a generic men’s short haircut is awesome, plus she is a pleasure to hang out with. Its easy to tell that she actually cares how the cut turns out, and it definitely comes through in the results.
I actually look forward to coming into the shop and I know, thanks to Veronika’s skills, that I will walk out feeling like I got the cut I want.
I would definitely recommend coming into Hair Queen and seeing Veronika.
FYI, I’m a guy, medium-​short length hair, on the wavy/​curly side.

I color my own hair but I was in the market for a new hair style and cut. With summer coming and so many split ends, it was time for a change! Alicia is amazing and captured the playful and edgy cut I had in mind. Love it!

Attention all visitors to NY: Hair Queen is where you need to get your arse to to have your barnet done. I literally plan my NY trips from London around my hair cutting needs as I trust no others like Trani. The atmosphere, the décor, the music, the craic will have you buying ‘super-​grow shampoo’ just so you can go back sooner.
Where else are you gonna find yourself sipping on your favourite drink, getting a fabulous new style, catching up on all the goss whilst being stared at by an oversized image of the Exorcist?

Tranni has been cutting my hair for over 10 years. I’ve followed her to multiple salons and stuck with her for the 4 years I lived somewhere else. My hair is always exactly what I want and I’d never let anyone else touch it.
I couldn’t be happier for her and Chicago! The new place is great, has the best playlists (thanks Sammy Jo!), and any beverage you could possibly want. Just go!

Great salon! I’ve been here several times to get cut and color and I am very picky about my hair. Alicia always done an amazing job! I recently had my hair colored ombré. It turned out perfect.
A male friend went to see the barber ‘Chicago’ and was really pleased with his cut. All around great work by the stylists and barbers here. Highly recommend.

I’ve never been to a salon that was so homey and cool. The music is amazing and the ambiance is very down to earth, yet hip. The hair stylists are all very sweet and outgoing and do an amazing job. No matter what you are having done, you should come here.

A great new spot to get your hair cut on the LES, they’ve only been open about 2 months. It’s a bit tough to see from the street as they currently only have a pink sign on the wall and a sandwich board advertising their presence. It’s small, only two chairs, but you rather than feeling claustrophobic it’s about as cozy as a full service hair salon can get.
Veronika is one of the few people who have cut my hair who can interpret my vague mumblings about length, layers, style, etc, into a haircut that I walk out of the store incredibly happy with. She really nails it!
