I’m confused. This place is now called Hao Dumpling. Lili’s is no more. Be that as it may, we have continued to order delivery from this place under the Hao name. The food is OK but be aware of a tip scam! When we placed the order, delivery was stated to be free and we added a $ 3.10 tip to the online order. When the delivery arrived, the delivery man showed us a receipt stating«tip cash» which he pointed to, and waited until we tipped him cash. Fraud on the part of the restaurant!

This place has a bit of an identity crisis… is it Chinese? Is it Japanese? Or is it Thai? It’s not really apparent from the décor or the menu to be honest — but whatever, because the chinese food is good. We usually stop in here when we have a craving for soup dumplings and can’t be bothered to venture to Chinatown. And they definitely hit the spot. Very tasty. The wonton in chill oil is also a favourite, mixed with the hong chow fried rice. The peking duck is also a solid choice. Haven’t tried the Japanese, and doubt I will — just doesn’t strike me as a good place for sushi when there are many restaurants around the area which just specialise in this. Service is always efficient and courteous. Also a large space so getting a table is never an issue.

DONOT order delivery from this place. I live less than 5 blocks and it took over 1 hour for the food to come. Any place in the neighborhood can do better.

This place is very nice and the food here is delicious. However, the service screwed up our experience at this place. I showed up here with a group(4 of us in total) for some Sunday night dinner at around 9:40pm. As soon as we were seated, we were studying the menu to decide what to get. We noticed that our server David, kept rushing us to order as we hadn’t made up our minds yet. He quickly and rudely reminded us that they closed at 10:30pm and we felt stressed to order because of this. We quickly decided what we wanted and the food came out within 10 minutes. We didn’t even ask for the check yet and our server brought it to us. Immediately, I saw something wrong. The tip was already included in the check(handwritten!) and it was 15%, which was not mentioned in the menu. They charge 18% for parties of 6 or more(this WAS in the menu). After seeing this, we asked his manager why they were charging us 15% without our approval and he immediately scolded David in their language and apologized as he didn’t know what was going on. Shortly after this, we gathered our belongings and were leaving the table(by the way, it still wasn’t 10:30pm at this point) when our server asks us why he wasn’t getting a tip. The look on his face was of devastation. Had he not been so rude and tried to charge us a tip which we didn’t approve of, he would’ve gotten something at least. The point of this review — don’t expect any good service here.

Terrible terrible service. As if we were invisible. Sushi tasted off. Other entrees were good. But never coming here again.

Had a good experience ordering pork + crab Shanghai juicy buns(xiaolongbao, or soup dumplings). Easy to find in Chinatown but not that common up here, so I was pleasantly surprised. Very tasty, went down smooth, can’t complain. If I had read the reviews I might not have come in here, but I guess it’s under new management. So it goes to show you you can’t just take a Unilocal rating at face value.

I had to leave a review. I am sitting in the restaurant right now and had a horrible experience when i ordered the wanton noodle soup. Dont really wanna go in to details as i feel like its wast of my time to do so, just dont come here. The guy server here is horrible. Got in a real argument with me with my order. Just dont come.

The worst sushi in the city. tasteless. slow service. If there was an option for no star I would choose that! Avoid at all cost!

We came here during the week. We only had sushi, and it was OK — a couple of rolls(spicy tuna and eel) and they were OK. We also had the shrimp tempura bento box — a little disappointing, very little tempura, and nothing else interesting. We should have come here for the Chinese food, which seems to have much better reviews. But it was honestly totally meh.

This place is going downhill. They used to give pickled cucumbers to customers. Not any more. Budget cut?! I asked for hot tea and I see the waiter doing everything but getting me the tea. I had to ask another waiter for my tea. There goes his tips. Trying out the beef stew noodle soup today. Supposed to be spicy but it’s kinda bland.

This is a review for the boba/bubble tea(disclaimer**) the staff there is wonderful very friendly. I usually feel awkward about walking into dine in restaurants for drinks but the warm welcome made me continue on in. I got a taro bubble tea and its pretty good. Its no Chinatown affair but when in the upper east side… its pretty large as well for 4.50 in my book. The guy that made my drink filled up my cup and the dome lid so I’m satisfied. And he gave me almost half a cup of bubbles… SCORE!

Excellent Chinese cuisine. The sushi bar is also pretty good. The fried rice and noodle dishes are very good; however the dumplings are mediocre and contain bad quality meat. Besides this, it’s an excellent place to get a quick bite: the food comes lightning fast. Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good Chinese dish. EDIT: under new management the dumplings are AWESOME. Five stars.

Big area. Good and spread out! Lots of seating. The bubble tea is bland(a nice way for saying it’s crappy) The sushi was«okay» though. And they do have brown rice! Kinda pricey tho! Add the above and 3 small fishballs filled with meat and the meal + tip was nearly twenty bucks. I only had one order of the 6 mushy spicy salmon and brown rice rolls! :(

First time here and the service was defiantly a 4.5. The owner was very friendly and the waitress was attentive to us which was great. My boyfriend and I tried the Bento Dinner Box. Meso soup, salad, brown(or white rice, ANDINTHEBOX: noodles with peanut oil, two dumplings, four Cali rolls, a lot of(my order was sesame chicken) chicken and in the middle the ginger and wasabi. I thought the meso soup was a bit on the salty side, the salad was good and so was the box(could barely eat it all). The drinks are also pretty good(and strong). I would go here again to try other things. The prices are fair

This review is only for the bubble tea here! Pros: They have bubble tea here! Cons: It’s not that good. Its just the typical powder fare you can expect from more than half of the bubble tea places in NYC. sigh, I was so happy at first. Prices are a bit higher than what I usually pay: $ 4.50 for a small cup. But honestly, you probably can figure out that you’re paying for its location in a very non-bubble tea populated area. I will continue searching for good bubble tea in Upper East Side. For some reason, I feel like I won’t find any. In the meantime, Lili’s does the trick. $ 5 card minimum.

After much debating on where we were going to celebrate Chinese New Year, my family settled on Lilys. The bubble tea is great here, heads up. For appetizers we got a cucumber-avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, miso soup, corn egg drop soup, and edimame. He soups were tasty as well as the sushi. I thought the entrees were better. My family shared the ginger spinach, peeking duck, and moo shoo pork. the duck was moist and the skin was so crispy. I loved it with the plum sauce and crispy cucumber and savory green onion. The pork is so good as well. I didn’t love the spinach since it was covered in ginger and way too much soy sauce. I’ll be back a Lilys.

Came here for a birthday dinner with a big group; friend’s family friend apparently owns the place so we could have been treated comparatively royally. In any case, food quality here is actually quite top notch for NYC Chinese food – very authentic cooking and fresh ingredients. Service again was very good and this may have been due to the connection. Ambiance is not super awesome for a UES establishment. The one thing that kinda irked me was the price – the bill ended up being ~$ 25 evenly split, which is pretty hefty for a family style dinner relative to the food portion. If the prices had been lower and the ambiance, more up to par with a UES establishment, the food alone would have definitely merited 5 stars.

Very whatever dim sum place in the upper east side. Staff isn’t really attentive. Food comes out five minutes after you order so that’s the main hint that everything is made beforehand . Little pricey for the poor quality. Wouldn’t return.
