Manhattan Mini Storage

This is the best storage facility in NYC. It’s new, clean, temperature controlled, easy to get to and easy to access your items and the staff is helpful and they have a great free van service and the prices are reasonable. I first came to this facility when I was a pharmaceutical sales rep and needed a temperature controlled place to store my sample medications. Many pharma reps store at this facility. It was a great alternative to keeping boxes of medications and brochures in my apartment. I then used this facility when I was between apartments and needed to store clothes and shoes and important documents that I could access regularly, important papers I didn’t feel comfortable keeping in my hotel room with me. I was in and out like superman changing outfits in a phone booth and even joked to the staff that I should perhaps just live there in the meantime because they’re so accommodating and make things easy on customers with little things like free wifi, coffee, seating area, all came in handy when I was away from my hotel and needing to make business calls (in between outfit changes lol)

Experienced great customer service and professionalism from Deniese McIntyre. Was in a jam and she quickly updated my contract and had me on my way. Unit was appropriate and parking available.

I was in the middle of a stormy messy part of my life, where I had to momentarily relocate to a shared bedroom and could not bring my personal belongings with me. My only option was to rent a storage as close as possible to my new location. I signed a 6 month lease at a fixed prepaid price.
My life began to be even messier and I forgot about my rental agreement saying that if i overstayed the 6 months, a fee was gonna be assessed. in the meantime, my credit card got blocked, so MMS couldn’t withdraw the payments for the extra months.
When I was finally able to get my life together and move to my own place again, I went to MMS to pick up my stuff and was informed that I had 4 extra months unpaid. I was very embarrassed. I thought that MMS has cracked the lock open to throw away my things, but they didn’t. My stuff was still safely in the locker, unchanged. I was so thankful, that they had the patience not to trash my things! (they had all the right to do so, due to my negligence).
I happily paid the overdue fees (my life was back on track) and emptied the storage rental.
The staff is wonderful, very secure and clean space. No rats crapping in the unit, no sketchy people tampering with others’ lockers. The temperature is constant both in the summer and winter. It is also a dry environment, so if you have oil paintings, they are safe.
The venue sells boxes and wrapping supplies and you can wrap your belongings right there, without going back and forth from your house.
I will be using MMS at 62street again in case my life becomes a shitting hell again.

Yesterday, I had a VERY GOOD experience with my FREE, STORAGE TAXI DRIVER, Sedgwick. He was OnTime and Very Courteous.
Today, I decided to rent an Additional Storage Unit AT THE E62nd St and First Ave Location. I spoke with Thesha Brown. She was Wonderfully Helpful.

Moving with Manhattan Mini Storage was the best moving experience I’ve ever had. I have moved in Philadelphia, DC, and now New York, and Manhattan Mini Storage made the move seamless. Not only are their rental rates the lowest that I found, their free van pick up service is timely, FREE, and both drivers I had were incredibly helpful and friendly. Once I arrived to the storage unit with my things, the staff at the 420 E 62 St location were also incredible. I was located in a unit that was 5ft above me, and as I am that height myself, Pedro helped me and my friends lift my mattress into the unit, which was a life saver.
The facilities are clean, well-​kept, and they have a surplus of dollies to assist with your move on site. The desk was very responsive when I had issues, and their call-​in line is also run very well.
Hands down I would recommend Manhattan Mini Storage to anyone who needs a storage locker in NYC.

I have been with MMS for almost 13 years now and you couldn’t find a nicer, kinder or more helpful employee than Jasmore Saunders. It feels like home when I see Jasmore! He is really the best! The facility is well kept and clean. The best storage unit by far in the city. Easily the most convienent parking, making it easy to load and unload. I always recommend this location to anyone in need of a storage unit in NYC.

I had a great experience due to the amazing customer service rep Thesha Brown. I ended up having to change the size of my storage space and she was very patient, helpful, and understanding. She found me the right space for my storage needs. Her friendly attitude made this a good experience for me and because of her I will continue my business as well as forward other clients to this storage company.

My co-​worker and I went in to transfer our current unit into a bigger unit and Tesha Brown couldn’t have been any sweeter. She walked us through all our options, showed us the different sizes available and helped us narrow down exactly what we needed.
She was polite, courteous and knowledgeable and a great example of exceptional customer service.

Theresa Brown provided a great service. She explained everything in details and was very helpful. The storage service and place worked out perfectly and I could fit what I wanted. She switched the date for the shuttle reservation (this is included in the service!) but I got reimbursement for my taxi rides. I recommend her service.

Thesha Brown helped me out, made a great recommendation, and helped it me out in choosing the appropriate sized unit for my needs. Really simple and easy process!

** AWFUL — CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH — BEWARE! **
So I went in here this past Sunday to get some boxes and ask about rates for storage. I had used a Manhattan Mini Storage on the West side last year, so I didn’t think too much about using them again.
The girl who helped me was very charming and quoted me a rate of $ 374 a month for a room to hold the contents of a studio apartment. I said that was too high for me and was about to leave, but then she clicked around a bit and said they were having a promotion — the same room was $ 186 as long as you committed to at least six months. I said that sounded great, but because it was such a drop in price I asked her a few times if she was sure. She assured me that the rate was correct, the only caveat was that you had to stay for six months. This was fine with me.
There were two other people behind the counter and they all agreed on this rate, so I made a reservation, picked up my boxes and crossed one major thing off my list. I was told I would get a confirmation email with all the details. I never received the email, so I went back in the next day to get some more boxes and ask about the email.
When I went to the counter, the girl who had helped me was not there, so another girl talked to me. She told me that the rate I had been quoted was wrong and that there must have been a «glitch in the system». (I have to say, that phrase rolled off her a tongue a little too easy.) She said the rate for this room was now $ 374! When I told her I had been quoted $ 186, she clicked around and told me they could do $ 286. All I could think was it’s a good thing I came in to check on my missing email or I would have shown up to move in and gotten completely screwed. I finally spoke to a manager who explained that the girl who had helped me was new and she made a mistake and couldn’t I understand that. The thing is, that argument didn’t even hold water because there were two other people working with her and they all agreed on the rate. (And honestly, why should I have to pay the price for this girl not being trained properly?) I found it a bit suspicious too that my email address had been «written down wrong» (or so I was told) and that’s why I never got the confirmation email.
The manager, an older woman with glasses, was argumentative and did her best to make me feel unreasonable and I finally told her she should simply honor the rates given by her employees. After arguing with me for several minutes, she told me she would do the first six months at $ 186, but after that the rate would jump to $ 286. She behaved like she was doing me a big favor and I told her to forget it, that I didn’t trust her at all. She then repeated her offer three more times (perhaps she thought I couldn’t hear her?) and I told her again that she should honor the rates given, that I didn’t trust her or her facility and to cancel the reservation. At this point I didn’t believe a word anyone in this place said to me. (Would you?)
I posted my photos of the RATE CARD I was given in the photos section above. It clearly says «186» with nothing written in the time limit. (The manager took the card and wouldn’t give it back!!)
BEWARE of this place, folks, GET IT IN WRITING BEFORE YOU PAY OR SIGN ANYTHING. I’m just grateful I hadn’t given them my credit card details before I realised they were completely scamming me. Judging from the reviews here I am not the only one. Sad, really.
**EDITED TO ADD 9/​12/​13** Nice try Adam and thanks for the reply, but the room I was shown on the Sunday was a 5×7×8, NOT a 4×4 as stated in the comment below — but did I write it down? No. Can I prove it? Probably not. The employee who showed us the room was so nice that I trusted her which was my mistake. I wouldn’t trust anyone there again, no way! I say this again — ** GET IT IN WRITING ** — and honestly, it wasn’t just this new employee who quoted this rate for this room, it was all three staff members working that day. All three of them agreed on the rate as long as you stay at least six months. That was the offer.
All I wanted was the room I was shown at the rate I was quoted.
So either the staff I dealt with are completely shady or completely incompetent, who knows, but it doesn’t matter — on Tuesday I went and found storage space at a nice Manhattan facility — the rate was the same the next day, everything written down, email sent, no games, no tricks, no nonsense. Very professional and above board which is how it should be (and more than I can say for MMS on 62^nd Street.)
If anyone reading this wants to know where my lovely new storage space is, please just ask — I will be happy to share. And yes Adam, YAY for Unilocal indeed. Hopefully your staff will learn to treat their customers with respect and perhaps gain more positive Unilocal reviews in the future.

A clean, neat storefront with multiple entrances, and free parking for customers (2 hours), a truck bay, and plenty of blue carts to move items to and fro in the facility.
If you’re short, the taller lockers can be reached via a stairstep, but it’s still sometimes easier just to get a lower locker.
It’s $ 29/​month for the smallest lowest unit, but really, you’re probably more likely to get a medium-​sized unit for anywhere from $ 60-​$ 100/​month if you have more than 5 – 6 decent-​sized boxes. So $ 372/​year isn’t horrible. Even $ 528 isn’t bad for a year depending on the size.
Shows you the sizes and spaces available online. Also decently secure and AC. Not sure if they have their own generators but a good place to drop a bunch of stuff if you’re tight for space in your apartment!

Wow! Just wow! I can’t believe how great my experience was with Manhattan Mini Storage. We walked in and Cassandra greeted us right away. She was already off the clock, but she stayed and helped us with everything. She did everything but literally bend over backwards to help us. I can say enough good things about her!
The location is really nice. With clean bathrooms and wifi, they give you a ton of amenities. Everyone there was nice, and we got a great unit. Painless experience I can’t recommend enough!

DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE! Classic bait and switch. And bait and switch that is effective because of the extreme inconvenience of moving to a reputable storage facility after this disreputable outfit jacks up your price an absurd amount on renewal.
I paid $ 372 for a small room for the last year. Then I received a letter telling me that I would have to pay $ 528 for the next year.
When I spoke to the manager, Jodie Siegel (sp?), she first said we don’t increase rates nearly 50% in one year. Then she goes on to say that they were only increasing my rate $ 48 per year not $ 156 .
Here is her VOODOO ARITHMETIC. She repeatedly said that my prior discounts don’t count in calculating how much my rate has increased. Her illogical absurd point was that my increase should be calculated by comparing last years FULL rate without discounts to my new rate with this year’s discount.
She finally did agree to reduce my new annual rate to $ 480. That’s still a jump from $ 372 last year. While better than the letter, which said I would pay $ 528 in the next year, it’s still a large increase. IMHO that’s a type of bait and switch.
Bottom line — GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR STORAGE NEEDS!

Have no real complaints. It’s a storage facility. It is clean, and climate controlled. Staff is usually friendly. Very secure. Price per month on your storage bin is based on a size and location like most other facilities. Lots of carts around to also transfer your things. Open ²⁴⁄₇ and 365 days a year.
Basically, it is just a place to store all my crap that I have accumulated over the years that was clogging up my apartment!
