I happened to be in the neighborhood and noticed the rate was more affordable than the barbers where I live. The man working was very nice and finishing up with another customer who was giving backhanded compliments about how he did a good job most times and then proceeded to nitpick over his gray hair being too gray. The barber took it all in stride. The shop smelled like stale cigarettes which is why I deducted one star. There were nostalgic posters of Russian athletes from the 80s/90s everywhere. When it was my turn he was obliging to my preference for scissors over clippers. He was meticulous about my problem rooster-tail. Overall I’m pleased with my haircut and if nearby again will be sure to stop in.

Flew in from Los Angeles and needed a haircut pretty badly. Found this place very close to my AirBnB. 10 – 15 minutes later, I came out with a very clean haircut for $ 14! He was able to go off the very confusing description I gave him about what I wanted my hair to look like. If I lived in New York, this would be my go to spot. I highly recommend it!

Marc’s Barber Shop has open its doors here a long time ago. David took over the place in 1996, and. has been my barber ever since. He and his crew are professionals who perform their craft with great care for details. They perform the latest styles In the much appreciated old fashion way, at a fraction of the cost of any competition. …and yes, they also replace watch batteries. Often one leaves the place not only with a great hair treatment but also with a joke. This is much more than a barber shop.

David has given me one of the best haircuts of my life! The cut he gave me was just as good as a cut I’ve gotten from elsewhere, which I had paid way more for

I’ve been going here for almost 20 years. I always get my hair cut by David and he never fails at giving a great haircut and always for the right price. I’ve never once, in 20 years, walked out unsatisfied. I definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a quality haircut at one of the best prices in the city.

My go to barber for 4 years. Very simple no frills old fashioned barber shop. There’s never a long wait and prices are reasonable.

Discovered David’s talents a while ago. for over 10 plus by now… he’s the way only Barber who gets the cut right! Asians to Zimbabwe, have seen David use his talent on all types of hair! And while working he makes it a bit more pleasurable with his off beat humor! Yup! Been around for years, so many loyal clients, including myself, cause I know I’m gonna look good after I get off the chair. no complaints, the best Men’s cut for $ 13.00 in the East Village… Best Regards, Tony

When I moved into Stuyvesant Town five years ago, I tried many different barber shops, including the slick and over-priced ones. Marc’s Barber Shop, with David and his colleagues is by far the best. Marc’s Barber Shop is like the old-fashioned neighborhood barber shop that is modest, down-to-earth and friendly. The prices are very reasonable and David seems to know everyone in the neighborhood. The wait is never too long, and if there is big crowd of people, David will tell exactly when you come back; in other words, he’ll hold your place in the line without you having to sit there for 30 minutes. Although, waiting can be fun, with David’s dry humor and neighborhood gossip. All in all, highly recommended!

I’ve been coming here for(can it be?) twenty years. They take the time to give you a good cut, and you can’t beat the price.

Best haircuts, and, ironically for the least amount of money, in NYC. I leave as satisfied with my cut(which lasts for weeks) as I did at Bergdorf Men’s, and pricier salons such as Aiden Gill in New Orleans). Though David and Joseph may seen a bit silent or gruff, don’t be fooled; they’re charming and understand the cuts all New Yorkers may need – just tell them what you want. I always leave with a cut that gives me plenty of complements!

I’ve been to handful of other barbers in the area and went to get a haircut randomly one day and have not left. David is a great barber who consistently gives me the right haircut. I don’t think you’ll find a better deal in the city either.

I have been going to David for the past 10 years — he is very meticulous and gives me a great haircut. I’m very picky about about my hair and he always asks me towards the end of the haircut if I want ant part shorter or thinned with thinning shears, etc. I never feel rushed — even when others are waiting. Also great sarcastic conversation about any topic.

I moved into the area 8 yrs ago and after trialing the local barber shops for the first few months I’ve been a loyal customer of Davids for 7.5 yrs now. David has a unique personality. He’s the local major. He practically knows everyone on 14th street. Conversations with David range from Boxing, International Developments, New York City Affairs, and Vodka. David takes a unique interest in my romantic life. He’s attempted to ‘hook me up’ several times. Although circumstances mitigated the opportunities… i’m curious as to the potential single females David had in mind. He assured me they had teeth and their hair was real. In conclusion come see David for your haircut. I’ve done the work for you… there is no one better in the east village!

I’ve been getting my hair cut by David at this shop for literally most of my life. He always takes his time and makes sure it comes out exactly how I want it. I’ve changed my hairstyle several times over the years and he always listens to my requests pretty closely. No complaints here.

David always does an excellent job. Always. I’ve been going to Dave for probably 18 years now, and I can say that Marc’s Barber Shop is one of the best in NYC. You can tell David cares about how your hair is going to look after he’s done. He’s a funny guy too. Bonus: He replaces watch batteries as well! Definitely go here if you want a great haircut at a great price!(tip well since it’s David & the price is so great!).

Been going to this little hole in the wall for about 5 years now and there’s few other people I will let touch my hair then David. Don’t get him mixed up with a metrosexual Zohan… his dry Russian humor will surprise you and for the money($ 13) can’t beat it in the East Village.

I have gotten hair cuts at places that cost 2 and 3 times as much as Marc’s and none of them do as good a job. I was lucky enough to have been walking by 1 day when i was in need of a quick haircut and stopped in. Now they are the only place i will go to.

«You can cheat on your wife but not your barber.» Unfortunately I’ve been to many Russian barbers from queens, bklyn and Manhattan. I like David the best from my 15 years of getting biweekly haircuts from all over. He is consistent, takes his time but not too long. That’s the most important about a haircut to me. Most barbers gave me a good haircut but was never consistent. I’ve been going to David for about a year now and I have yet to leave unsatisfied. I might not cheat on my barber anymore.
