Massage By Adrienne

It was just a very weird experience. I didn’t know if I was getting a Swedish massage or was getting bent and stretched all over the place. I just didn’t feel right about it at all. I’ll probably do a massage again, just not here. I’m not even sure if I got massaged by Adrienne. I think it was some random lady at the office. I wasn’t made to feel comfortable and therefore I didn’t feel comfortable. Never again!

I have never written a complaint on Unilocal before — or on any other forum for that matter — I really do not believe in complaining or spreading negative words about someone else, but I feel it my responsibility to let people know when a service is NOT good — especially a service such as massage. I truly wished I had read the other reviews before I had accepted this gift from my daughter.
Adrianne should not be practicing massage. At all. She seems to be a very bitter woman. She started the massage by saying, «I’m going to have to kick you out in 30 minutes.» Not exactly what one wants to hear before having a massage and having a stranger put their hands all over you. Someone we should trust because they have a certificate from the NCTMB, which after researching, does not really exist. So basically, she is a fraud.
She then gave me a massage for 45 minutes of the 60 that was paid for. I could go on and on, but I suggest you read the other reviews — with regard to not starting on time, then suggesting that YOU were late, etc. Very shady. And a VERY bad attitude. Simply put, it was not an experience I would ever like to have again. Hence, I highly suggest not having a massage by Adrianne and searching for a masseuse who truly cares about and wants to do their work — giving people massages — with kind and loving hands.

I had my fair share of high end massages to shady massages in DR and this experience ranks at the bottom. I would describe this as a «sloppy physical therapy session» and definitely not a Swedish massage!
Don’t come early, you won’t start on time. Don’t come on time because you won’t start on time. After waiting a while for her to come out she wanted me to fill out a form. By the time she situated me into the room and had me out the door it was like a 45– min massage.
Adrienne was very impersonable, I felt uncomfortable on all levels. She didn’t smile; she barely talked. Didn’t even say hello!
I looked past all the cons and gave her the benefit of the doubt that she will give a good massage. But the massage. I meant the physical therapy session – it just wasn’t good. It also felt like a body rub moreso than a massage. The foot massage was also a joke. She poked around at my foot and then placed her fingers on my sole for like 15 mins!
If you hadn’t booked an appointment yet– don’t. I truly don’t understand how she got a great rating.

Her massage is good. Lots of pressure (which I LOVE!). She spent a bit more time on my feet than I would normally like, but my back felt great, and she spent time stretching my legs as well, which was great.
My issues lie more with her bedside manner, which you can either take or leave. If you want a good, high-​pressure massage, you will be happy. The ambiance is not fantastic (which I don’t care about — I’m paying for a service, not a room, and it appeared that everything was clean, which is what is important), and I found the music she played to be too high-​paced and loud to be truly relaxing.
She barely spoke, and when she did, it was very quiet, and (for me!) hard to hear and understand. I got the impression that English is not her first language, perhaps, and that may have led to my feelings of gruffness, and the issue I ended up having with the Lifebooker deal. In any case, I did not feel comfortable asking her things, or like we could have any kind of conversation. The impression I got was you show up, and she does what she does — you take it.
I purchased a lifebooker deal: one for myself, and one as a gift. I had a very difficult time making an appointment (there were barely any times available, and the ones that were, were extremely inconvenient). When I finally made my appointments — in August — the only appointments that were available and that I could feasibly attend were in October. One (purchased as a gift) was 2 days post the expiration date of the Lifebooker. When I emailed to create my appointment, I pointed this out, and requested that she only confirm the appointment if she would honor the Lifebooker deal. She did, for which I was thrilled. Before leaving my personal appointment, I confirmed that I made an appointment as a gift for the next week, and that the Lifebooker would be expired, and asked again that she confirm that was OK. She did.
My mom went for her massage the next week, and Adrienne did not honor the full Lifebooker. She said she did not remember having confirmed with me (twice!) that she would honor the deal, based on my not being able to make an appointment within her very limited schedule. She gave my mom a half hour massage, which she enjoyed.
However, my experience with her was her bedside manner could stand to use a little softening, and she went back on her word. Whether I had misunderstood or not (because that is possible!) I do think it lies with her to be up front when booking life booker and other deals that if you book after an expiration date, your service will be changed. Had she been up front that she would need to make adjustments after the expiration date, I would have totally understood, but I do feel a bit like she pulled the wool over my eyes, especially since I verbally brought this up one week prior. I ended up being embarrassed that my mom, a recipient of a gift, had to be put into an awkward situation, when I had reached out to see if there would be limitations based on my appointment time. That would have been her time to mention that she would offer a half hour massage instead of the full hour.
All in all, a good massage, which is what you’re paying for, but I am left with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, customer service-​wise.

Like others, I bought a deal off Lifebooker and had to make an appointment for weeks later than desired.
The building is on the north side of 28^th street between 5^th Ave and Broadway. Take the elevator straight up to the 3^rd floor, you’ll see an open door with 2 chairs. Adrienne will come out for you to fill out the paperwork which is not extensive (I hate paperwork).Then you follow her to a 8ft x 12ft room. She’ll ask you to undress, leave your panties on, then lay flat on the table. I didn’t like that the face cushion thing didn’t have a soft paper towel on it. I requested on but she responded with «it’s clean» so I took her word for it. Bring your own form of guard if you’re concerned. I loved the soft blues/​jazzy music and found it super relaxing.
I requested light pressure and Adrienne explained that if I wanted «fluff and buff», people go to the spa because that’s not what she does but she did agree to go gentle — which she did! I appreciated that because I don’t want to experience pain in order to relieve pain/​tension. She did an amazing job on my back and shoulders.
She doesn’t work on the head or mess with the hair.
She works with quick, firm movements and stretches you out.
She spent a lot of time on my feet which normally I wouldn’t mind. I love foot massages but the way she massaged it felt like she was pinching play-​doh.
Regardless, for the price I paid through lifebooker, this was definitely a pleasant massage.

This place is a one woman show in which it’s in her own private studio… when you show up there is no one on the phone or even at the front to greet you so you dont even know if you’re in the right place or not. you’re looking for a fancy massage parlor this is not for you. Adrienne did a good job on my back but she didn’t ask me where my problem areas were before she started. I had to inform her to lower the pressure in which she did. In comparison to other massages I’ve had, she spent alot of time focused on my feet and not on back and neck. Overall she ok to get the tightness and knots out. This place is ok if you’re looking for a basic massage. It’s $ 85 for 1 session I got this as a gift through lifebooker.

So, this is not your typical massage place. It is a one woman business in the middle of other (?) one person businesses. She has one room to work out of and it is small. If you’re looking for fancy, this is not for you, but you’ll be missing out! Adrienne took the time before my massage to confirm my problem areas and she stuck to them during the massage. She didn’t just do her own thing, but worked on the areas I asked her to. She gave me tips on how to massage my feet since I’m on them a lot and they take a beating and gave me some samples to help. I moved out of the city, but I would have definitely come back for another massage!

Amazing. Very professional, prompt and tailored my session to my needs. I have multiple back issues, and she managed to address every one of them in only 60 minutes! Signed up for her very reasonable 6 pack of sessions. I’m sure it will be totally worth every penny.

I went to visit Adrienne after reading so many good reviews. She surely does not disappoint! Unlike other massage places, I have been too, she asks you to fill in an patient intake sheet which at first I was like «crap, I hate doing these things and then they do the opposite of what I wanted». To my surprised, she actually reviewed the sheet and tailored my massage according to the areas I indicated.
If you like massages that thoroughly kneads and massage every part of you, then you will not be disappointed with Adrienne. She was a bit hard on me, I tend to like gentle massages because I bruise like a peach. But she told me she had to because I had a lot of tension. She also recommended some exercises and stretches to try, which was really awesome of her.
One thing you should note, that her «room» is incredibly tiny. When you get into the building there is a small area with no chairs that you would have to wait for her. She does come out occasionally, but when I went the person before me was over her time by 15 minutes or so and I started freaking out thinking that she thought I was a no show. So, if she is not outside of her «room», then she is with a patient and whatever you do DON’T knock on the door. I felt like she was a bit annoyed when I did that even though she said it was okay.

WOW. let me just say this was without a doubt one of the most intense and wonderful massages that i have ever had. adrienne is incredible. she immediately pinpointed my problem areas and also gave me tips on how to avoid getting so stiff in the future. she was so fabulous! i could not more highly recommend her. as someone who is constantly looking for a top notch masseuse in nyc, she is truly wonderful! seriously schedule with her today!

I purchased two massage services at the price of one for 65 $ through Lifebooker. I didn’t have an issue getting any appointment, but then again I wasn’t looking for appointments during the week or had any specific date in mind. Appointments during the week were hard to get as others have pointed out. Appointments are booked online. She responded to my queries quickly when I sent an email. No one seems to be minding the phone number which is a little annoying if you’re trying to get hold of someone in a hurry.
You need to keep in mind that this isn’t a luxury spa or any sort of spa. I believe the rooms on the floor are rented by all sorts of people; photographers, massage therapists. Once you arrive on the 3^rd floor, buzz the bell at the entrance to catch someone’s attention. The massage room is small and just has about enough room for the massage table.
Adrienne was great. I asked her to concentrate on my shoulders and she worked her magic. My shoulder is much better. She used the right amount of pressure for the full body massage. I felt much relaxed after the appointment.
If you’re looking for a no-​frills, affordable massage this is a good spot.

Purchased two massages of Lifebooker. She was amazing; so nice and accommodating. Knew exactly what she was doing. Pressure points were amazing and received by full hour that I paid for. Yes the room is quite small but the great massage makes up for that. I’m not interested in a huge big room just the quality of the service and it was good. Booking the appointment wasn’t that hard. You have to book online and enter in your discount code. Pretty simple.
Highly recommend.

Like many others, I stumbled upon Adrienne’s services through lifebooker. It’s hard to schedule an appointment because her schedule fills up quickly so note your expiration date if you’ve purchased a deal.
Daily running + sitting in front of a computer 5 days a week = sore EVERYWHERE, all the time. I have to sleep in weird positions to get comfortable. Flash forward to today, I am happily zonked out as Adrienne methodically kneads my many knots out.
Don’t do this during your lunch hour… you won’t want to go back to work after such a relaxing session!

This is the first review I am leaving. Ever. What can I say? I think this was the best massage I have ever had. She was strong where she needed to be, and gentle when she needed to be, and was sensitive to my body and it’s needs. She concentrated on problem spots, and gave me suggestions afterwards. The only complaint I would have is that she only worked on me for 45 minutes, but the truth is, I was completely satisfied, and didn’t say anything about it. I would highly recommend her, and I will definitely be back!

I, too, joined the life poker bandwagon and booked with Adrienne. She’s super nice and it’s pretty easy to find (remember the entrance is on 28^th and she’s on the 3^rd floor). It’s an interesting building with these one-​room cubicles rented out to anyone from massage therapists to photographers to small tech startups.
Don’t show up super early though. There isn’t a place to wait because it is this setup and no common waiting room or what have you.
Adrienne is really sweet and thorough and has the hands of a goddess. My two months of apartment search and moving and then wedding madness just melted away. Seriously. I had no idea I was so tight, but now I feel like I can breathe again.
So worth checking her out. Apparently once you’re on her list she periodically sends out offers for multiple sessions. Can’t wait to go back.

Adrienne is sooo nice and friendly. I got a deal from Lifebooker and I’m glad I bought two. Her schedule a bit tight but that shows, she a lot of clients. It’s hard to get an appt after work. She gives you enough information without talking too much. She uses the right amount of pressure also.

Just got back from my massage with Adrienne that I purchased via Lifebooker for $ 29 ($ 35 massage sale plus a 15% discount on all orders– score!). The scheduling was easy to figure out but there is limited availability after work hours, so I had to schedule my 5:45 appointment 5 weeks in advance (and had something to look forward to).
With the help of my fellow Unilocalers, I found the entrance easily on 28^th, rode up to the 3^rd floor and rang the bell. A gentlemen let me in and grabbed Adrienne for me. She is very friendly and offered me a glass of water and had me fill out a client intake form with basic contact and medical information.
The massage was both relaxing and effective. Like another reviewer mentioned, I almost knocked out which never happens. I highly recommend for a great, affordable massage!

Scheduling an appointment here is impossible! They do not pick up the phone so emailing is the only way to set an appointment if you had purchased a Lifebooker deal online.
A day of emailing for an hour long massage in two months. Please. You need a massage just to de-​stress after the appointment scheduling process.

Yes yes yes yes. I had the BEST and most relaxed nap during Adrienne’s massage, and I have insomnia + my neck aches madly due to my usual sleeping position (head pillowed on my arms… i know, right.) The massage strokes are delivered in a pretty fast and no-​nonsense way, but they’re no less effective, and I fell asleep about 40 mins in as she was doing reflexology on my feet. I didn’t ask for that, I asked her to concentrate on my neck and shoulders, but boy am I grateful.
I had a Lifebooker deal, which meant that I paid around $ 50 for a full hour including tip. For a private room with solid walls, a convenient Broadway location (tho not in the best part of Broadway.), and the great jazz singers’ music she was playing during the massage, it was super worth it. I would buy a million more deals if I could… the normal price is too expensive for me, I’m afraid. Also, it’s pretty hard to get an appointment, so book way in advance.

I had a fine massage from Adrienne. Yes, it is difficult getting an appointment but it was worth it. I will return.
The only slight disappointment (true of most massages) is that one never gets a full hour. Even if you show up early, which I did, the changing time seems to come out of the hour.
