Modern Dermatology

I also posted this under Dr. Kathryn Frew but her practice is called Modern Dermatology. I highly recommend Dr. Kathryn Frew as a dermatologist you can trust. Her office is clean and she has excellent bedside manners. I have been to many dermatologists in my life, having the type of skin that is extremely sensitive and breaks out easily. Heck, I’ve even been to Dr. Zizmore. Dr. Frew is ethical, professional and extremely bright. She is also a skilled dermatological surgeon, so if you need anything taken off, she is the doc for you. Her office contains many fancy gadgets for laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation, and anything else you need for better, younger skin. I’m glad she has after work hours, so I can work a full day and see her after work. Having been to her office several times, I feel comfortable with her and her assistant, and so will you.

I went to Dr. Iyer for a rash I had all over my body, due to my eczema. After reading all of his great reviews, I was happy to finally be seeing a doctor that seemed like he could actually help me. Turns out, I was very very wrong. In the first appointment, Dr. Iyer barely even checked my body – which is probably one of the most important parts of a dermatological examination – and then just prescribed a steroid cream, after I had just explained to him that steroid creams don’t really work for me. Although I should’ve taken the first appointment as a red flag, I decided to go back for my follow-​up, to tell him (to no surprise) that the steroid didn’t work. After about 3 appointments and 1 other prescription, he told me he was unable to help me further because I did not want to use anymore steroid treatments. Though he did recommend some places for me to go, I feel like he should’ve been upfront from the beginning if he knew he would not be able to help me beyond prescribing ointment after ointment.
I’m giving three stars for the extremely friendly and understanding physicians assistant (forgot her name, but she has brown curly hair and glasses), and the fact that I never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen. Other than that, I don’t see what all the hype was about.

Dr. Iyer has been my dermatologist for five years and I would not go to anyone else! He’s thorough, super smart and cares about his patients! I’m so glad that he opened up his own office! My husband sees him too now and we’re both really pleased with his attention to detail and great bedside manner. Thanks for everything Dr Iyer!

Seriously some of the rudest people I’ve ever met in a medical office. The doctor was okay, though after seeing her, I went to get a second appointment with another dermatologist because I didn’t feel her visit was thorough enough. I’ve been chasing this office to get my itemized receipt for nearly two months. So ridiculous. When I paid I’ve the phone, I had requested for an itemized receipt. The lady in the billing department happily obliged. Two weeks later, still no itemized receipt. I called again, no one picked up so I left a message. One week later, still no receipt. I called yet again, and it led to VM again. Left a message, one week later still no receipt. Finally, another week passed and I finally got the lady in the billing department live on the phone. She was immediately like «oh, right you’re the one who called about the itemized receipt. UGH! (I could hear her loud sigh. Really, no need for that rudeness).» She said she sent out two receipts twice… yet I never received, and I’ve never had issues with lost/​stolen mail as I live in a hi-​rise doorman building. Then she told me that I could come to the office to get it. So, I went last Monday July 20. The office was closed. There was a sign on the door saying something about a broken AC. I planned to go a week later. I just left the office, and it was yet again CLOSED with no sign. They’re supposed to be open till 7pm, which is what the billing lady told me too. What a freaking hassle! Thankfully, the other derm I saw is so on top of things. They replied to my email even on a Saturday and sent my receipt first thing on Monday morning. This places needs to get their s**t together!

Went to modern dermatology to see dr. iyer after many great reviews on zocdoc. My initial visit was a month back n it was awsm. After 15 min of paperwork i went to see the doc. First explained the condition to his assistant then him. Prescriptions worked for me. Followup wasn’t tht great mostly unrequired as he just said continue same thing for 6 months. Overall good experience; clean facility, nice staff, good doctor. Would recommend. Followup through phone or email.

I wish all my doctors were this great. I’ve been there about 4 times now, never waited more than 5 minutes, Dr Frew is the nicest doctor ever. LOVE her. Wish she was my GP. Went to her with a rash on my hands, she fixed it up in a couple weeks. Went back for a biopsy on a suspicious mole she found, quick painless (and negative). All the staff is great from the nurses to the front desk, the office is super moder and clean, easy to get in. Love it love it love it.

I love Dr. Iyer! He is such an amazing dermatologist and I’m so glad he has opened his own practice! I have been going to him for 7 years now — he has helped me through my problem skin phase. He is always accurate in his diagnosis and always sensitive to his patient’s needs. Nicole, the aesthetician, is great as well and her facials are really effective. She is very knowledgable and super sweet.
So happy with your new digs and can’t wait to keep coming back!

Dr. Iyer is hands-​down the best dermatologist I have ever seen, and I’ve seen quite a few. I was so happy when he came here from LA to stay (I have been seeing him for many years, on both coasts). There is no one better to see for subtle but incredibly effective aesthetic procedures. And he does often end up telling me to hold off on things that I am looking for a quick fix of self esteem from (where he could easily inflate both my face and his bill). The staff at this office is so kind and efficient, so far from the clinical and judgmental ones I have dealt with in other places. I have recommended him to all of my family and friends.

Very clean and modern office. Extremely professional and knowledgeable staff. I received microdermabrasion and am thrilled with the results. Already booked my second appointment!

I’ve been getting laser hair removal treatments at Modern Derm. Both medical staff and the office staff is always very pleasant and attentive. The office manager, Orla is great, always makes sure I am well taken care of. The office itself is very modern and clean. I strongly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience at Modern Dermatology today, my first visit! Dr. Iyer came highly recommended, and both he and his staff (especially Marisa, my physician assistant) were professional, friendly, and made me feel comfortable. They have a sleek and clean office and top of the line/​newest technology equipment. If you’re looking for the best in NYC, look no further. This is now my go to place for all my skincare needs and can’t wait until my next visit!

I have been going to Dr. Iyer for several years for a variety of ailments (both medical and cosmetic) and am impressed his professionalism, expertise and pricing. I have recommended him to many friends and they all have been very pleased.
