It was a breezy spring afternoon when I walked into this bustling Popeyes location. I was ready to eat the chicken nuggets I ordered. To my chagrin, they screwed up the order, giving me a a full breast/rib section which I struggled to eat.

The food itself is not bad. They will go to war with you over sauce though! Awful customer service and poor management.

Fried food doesn’t sit too well with me but in spite of that I had a decent quick meal at Popeye’s. I got the 3 chicken tenders combo. Biscuit was good, Cajun fries were ok. Chicken was the star(as expected)! Only that this food gave me spicy burps in the evening so not sure if I d do popeye’s again.

I have tried to place an order over the phone multiple times and have always gotten a disgruntled employee completely unwilling to help. Most recently I had an indian gentleman yell at me for calling in an order to pick-up – exclaiming: «You come in person, no phone!» with an abrupt slam of the phone. I love Popeye’s but this location is awful. If you manage to make it to this location in person you will see just how grimy and unappetizing this store is. I would rather walk 6 avenues to the location on Lexington than order from this slop hole.

Great chicken but terrible staff. They do not understand English at all and treat customer with bad attitude. Do not come here. Popeyes is everywhere in NYC and NJ

Filthy. Undercooked chicken. Good biscuits and mashed potatoes though. Was near chick-fil-A and got fried chicken on the brain but didn’t want to get there and wait so stopped here on the way to the Port Authority. Regretting it deeply.

My shameful secret, but this place takes forever to get your order right.

Chicken was extremely fresh after the citibike ride home. The staff were quick and place was clean and quaint. Freshest Popeyes I’ve had in a really long time …

So… Yea… I am embarrassed to say that Popeye’s is a guilty, fat kid, pleasure of mine… They’ve got tasty chicken… Unfortunately, everything else is the same in every location I’ve been in… I’ve never been into a Popeye’s and said to myself«Oh, this Popeye’s has a clean bathroom» or «Oh! this Popeye’s cashier is actually friendly» or «Oh! I don’t feel like I’m not risking my short term, and long health by eating here» I hate that I love it, but love that I hate it. This particular joint in my old neighborhood doesn’t break any conceptions… But… Popeye’s… So… NOMNOMNOM

Man, I know it’s been a while since I’ve been to a Popeye’s but the price has gone up tremendously. I remember when Popeye’s had 2 pcs for $ 1 specials. Now it’s $ 2 a pcs. Fine, I’m already there and was craving Popeyes. So I ordered the 3 pcs combo and ready to dig. As I’m tearing the chicken apart, I noticed that it’s mostly crust and skin. Where’s the meat? Completely disappointed at the present Popeyes. The only reason for the 2 stars was because the Cajun spice in the chicken hasn’t changed.

Have loved Popeye’s since 1979. Even was at the huge main branch on Canal Street in New Orleans in 1986. The standard product — with recent innovations — has always been quality. I tend to agree with most reviewers… each of the staff here need some attitude adjustment. Nobody explains why but that’s the delivery you get. I will give the Popeyes, at 14 Street a full 5 stars. They do chicken, and all else, right.

Popeyes… the highest caliber of fried chicken one can eat. KFC can’t hold a candle to their chicken… don’t even try to compare. Chicken: Always fresh, perfectly cooked, and juicy. Sides: Standard deliciousness, feel free to ask for fresh fries. Service: I see some negative reviews on here about poor service. Maybe it’s the lunch rush or a different crew, but when I go at nights after work, the ladies behind the counter are sweethearts and are very accommodating. I always take Unilocal reviews on poor service with a grain of salt. I’ve found if you treat workers with respect they generally return in kind, and I would venture to say that not all of their clientele is respectful. Cons: 1. They charge 25 cents for certain sauces like tartar. I don’t think these sauces hurt their bottom line that much so it’s disappointing. I could be wrong though and not know about a depletion of worldwide tartar sauce reserves. 2. They could work on cleaning the tables more often after messy people eat. 3. If you want fresh fries or chicken, ASK for it. Sometimes it’s been sitting there, so you have to be proactive if you want the better(non-dry) stuff.

5 stars for the chicken. Who doesn’t love the salty, crispy crunchy goodness known as POPEYE’S CHICKEN??? But man, flat out 0 stars(I’d give it a negative if I could) for the folks behind the counter. Maybe it was an off night(or three, since all of my experiences here have been relatively dismal) — but the general surliness of the employees(including the manager) really puts a damper on buying chicken there. Folks like me who live in the area have no other choice as there aren’t any other Popeye’s outlets near us, but it is always great to deal with people who seem generally disinterested in providing basic services to customers. I also picked up the 10 piece deal for $ 11 dollars and simply asked how many wings are included with the box. I asked if it would be possible to trade a breast for a wing and was ripped for even opening my mouth about it. Sheesh. Also apparently someone else put in a very big order(it was Super Bowl night) and came to pick up his 60 piece order after a long delay. Apparently they forgot about the order and the poor guy had to wait for the chicken to be ready even though he called way in advance to make sure. He was met with the same general surliness and indifference as well. Obviously this isn’t Jean Georges so it is what it is. But there are still some basic standards that I think people should at least try to adhere to, especially if these are folks that are putting in some big orders. Anyway, still love that chicken at Popeye’s … the food is still decent! Just don’t expect any kind of friendliness in this den of woe.

I got the loaded chicken wrap and it was very old and gross. I’m not a picky eater, but I had to throw this away and get food elsewhere. Get your fast food fix elsewhere.

I love shouting, «Love that chicken from Popeyes!» at the top of my lungs! Last time I did it was at a funeral. Man, those people gave me some weird looks! lololo Eh, this one is solid Popeyes. I’ve always gone @ lunchtime so the chicken is hot and fresh. Greasy as sin, but hot and fresh. Give me a Popeyes over a shit KFC any day. I have nothing more to add.

I am not a big fan of junk food, however sometimes it hits the spot especially if you aren’t the one paying for it. :) I love these much better then KFC, The spicy is really good, probably my favorite. The chicken is always crispy and good to the last bite. I also enjoy their biscuits as well as mashed potatoes. If you can get it delivered as the staff and service is usually horrible. However delivery seems to be the way to go and always arrives hot and on time. Plus you don’t have to deal with the bad service and rude staff as normally found in these establishments.

The food is standard for a Popeye’s. The staff leaves a lot to be desired. From stinginess with the most mundane items such as condiments to allowing a homeless woman walk in, hassle a customer for 5+ minutes, while she actually tried taking his food from him while he was eating it! She continued to pick the garbage, fill up a cup she found with soda & then walk out all of her own volition while the staff did nothing to address the situation. Shameful!

Crappy service but decent chain store fried chicken. I don’t know why I had to repeat my order twice(I guess the server forgot what I wanted in between being at the register and walking over to the chicken?). Super uppity register folks also. But for greasy, unhealthy food, it’s pretty damn satisfactory. Don’t look too closely at the quality of the chicken. Just close your eyes and put it in your mouth. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…

Even with hands-down better alternatives for fried chicken(including BonChon Chicken only two blocks south), Popeye’s still has a special place in my heart as Don Mattingly does for Yankees fans. KFC cannot duplicate the crispy fried skin that is a Popeye’s trademark, and Roy Rogers — let’s not even bother. It is this affection for Popeye’s that keeps me coming back to this location. It is a bit ghetto with unsavory people just lounging around; There is a 50% chance your chicken will be dry and rough as if it has been hanging out there for a while; and yes, there is a 50% chance your buttermilk biscuits might be stale. Despite all this, I keep coming back to this location because of convenience, awesome deals(e.g. — 3 pieces of chicken w/a biscuit for $ 3.49 or 11 pieces of mixed chicken for $ 10), and the(costly) potential of enjoying fresh, great tasting, Southern fried chicken. Yes, the potential…
