Ok food, but nothing special. A little on the expensive side. Staff are very nice and helpful. Pizza is my suggestion.

The risotto is one of the best that I have tried. The line was not short, but hey new yorkers, when is restaurant ever convenience when it’s good.

Randomly came across this place and ordered the risotto with shrimp and peppers. It was definitely on point.

Amazing breadsticks and risotto as everyone else has already commented, but for some reason nobody highlights that their meatball appetizer is one of the best f’-ing meatballs out there. Even my husband(who has no gluten allergy) was blown away… and he is a regular at The Meatball Shop and Parm. ORDERTHEMEATBALLS! Tres leches cake was awesome as well… love this place.

Risotteria has, hands down, the best gluten free pizza, breadsticks, and desserts anywhere. I’m qualified to say this because I was not diagnosed with celiac disease until I was in my early 20s, and I’m from Brooklyn. I grew up eating only the best pizza, the best bread, the best desserts, the best everything. While gluten free options have improved over the years(yay) for the most part, I feel like I am settling. I’ve cried over how close but no cigar most gluten free carbs are. Not here. We used to go to the Bleecker Street location. I’m sure we’ll still find ourselves there from time to time. Risotteria made the top tier of my wedding cake. All accounts said that it was far more delicious than the regular cake. My understanding is that the chef/owner is a chemist, and he just figured it out. The only place that stacks up is La Specialita in Milan, Italy. I feel like a real restaurant goer at Risotteria, not a problem guest. I didn’t realize that they deliver now, or that they offer brunch. The other reviews here suggest that they do. I can’t wait for brunch! Please be true. I’ll even go as far as saying that Risotteria has the best pizza PERIOD on the upper west side. My gluten eating husband also only eats things that taste good, and largely the pizza(and let’s be honest, most of the food in general) stinks in this neighborhood. But yay Han Dynasty! Now we have two places that we don’t feel lazy for eating at.(As in, «I can’t believe we ate at XYZ restaurant after that previously yucky experience. We should have gone(downtown, to Brooklyn, to Astoria, to Raleigh, to anywhere.)» My only eh remark about Risotteria is that the beer is well selected but steeply priced. I’ll buy beer if it will keep him from closing down like every second empty storefront, though.

Got food delivered 3 times before, and all of a sudden I’m told that the ‘delivery zone’ stops one street south of my apartment. Apparently, the new ‘delivery zone’ extends from 65−90th st. Explain to me how it makes any sense that the ‘delivery zone’ extends 14 streets south, to 65th; but, not 14 streets north, to 92nd?!? Manager’s response: «Well, I didn’t make the delivery zone.» Give me a break. Absolutely ridiculous.

I have been to the risotteria in the W. Village several times and struggled to fight the crowds in the tiny space where you are often left waiting out in the cold. It is definitely a hearty meal which I prefer to eat on cold rainy days but so worth it. For those who are gluten free this is the place to go. For those who are not gluten free it is also the place to go as the individual sized pizzas are full of toppings and(even though they are thin crust) remain crisp until the very last bite. The risotto is always cooked to perfection and we have never had a complaint there. Hope the landlord doesn’t raise their rent and drive them out of business like most great eateries on the UWS!

First off, the food was very good. Having said that, here are some of the things that make this less than four star: It is so dark and the menu is 12 point black type on burnt sienna paper that all four of us at our table had to use the flashlights from our smart phones to read the menu. Unnecessary and easily fixed. It is also very noisy and if you weigh more than 10 pounds over the average human being you will have to squeeze your ass between chairs and tables to sit down. The servers were(mostly) attentive and perhaps a bit officious. They were removing plates the minute anyone finished anything without waiting for other people at the table to have finished their meals. A disturbing trend not just found here. My husband is completely unable to eat gluten and it was a really pleasant experience not having to worry about the menu. The breadsticks actually tasted like breadsticks. And all else was consistently tasty. I would absolutely go back and completely recommend this restaurant I just hope they change the paper they print the menu on. I’ll deal with squeezing my bulk between tables.

The food was good & the staff was friendly & accommodating. We had various food allergies & a vegan in our party, everyone was able to find something to eat. Would definitely recommend!

I’ve gone to the Risotteria on Bleecker many times when visiting NYC. As a Celiac I’ve always appreciated how knowledgeable the restaurant is about food allergies and the amount of gluten free options available. That location, however, is small and can get crazy cramped. I’ve just recently moved to the city for grad school and now spend much of my time on the UWS. I’m so glad I don’t need to trek downtown for my Risotteria fix now. I find that the food and such is comparable to the Bleecker location, but the new UWS location is so much bigger and more comfortable. I also find that the servers at the UWS location are friendlier. The baked goods can be dry, as someone else mentioned in their review, and I agree they should expand their delivery options.

Decent Restaurant but issues. The Good — Delicious gluten free pizza Great salads Brunch options Great Variety of gluten free and vegetarian items The bad — no reservations, worked in village but not for UWS. I end up not often going b/c I can’t just stand around Amsterdam waiting. Village location is near tons of bars and stores. — No menu online for this location’s food — staff is a mess, they have no idea what’s going on — risotto is not good — no delivery or delivery only to addresses on broadway or Amsterdam. Total mess considering riverside, west end and cpw is all residential. — desserts are dry It is only«so-so» because of silly policies and no one seems to be in charge of making sure quality is good and staff knows what’s going on.

Great gluten free selection, risotto was really tasty and surprisingly light. Great value. Reason for 3 stars was it felt more like a café than a restaurant.

I was excited to see that one of my favorite downtown spots now has a spot in my neighborhood! I am not ok a gluten-free diet but this place is delicious. The pizza(both regular and GF) are always excellent — a little bit of wood burnt taste, and the crust is not that gummy, heavy kind that some GF places use. Every single risotto I have ever ordered from either location has been delicious. Last night I asked the waitress to surprise me and she picked the roasted chicken, mushroom, and pine nut risotto. Absolutely delicious. And the portions are great — enough to fill, not so much that you need to take a nap. Also, the breadsticks are a great way to start the meal! Happy that this location has outdoor seating.

My wife and I came here for dinner on a Friday night and were overall pretty disappointed. The saving grace was very nice service. For starters the namesake risotto was not all that good — tom colicchio would surely vote off these chefs. My wife ordered the classic risotto with roasted chicken and asparagus. Not a lot of texture to the dish and the asparagus seems to just be tossed in carelessly. I was persuaded by the waitress to order the prosciutto and arugula risotto. The arugula was cooked into the risotto and ended up a soft flavorless leaf. The prosciutto was sliced thin and placed on top. Overall was kind of mushy and lacked flavor although the waitress claimed it was among the most popular and«flavorful» dishes. Neither my wife or I could finish our dishes as it was all one note lacking texture and seasoning. Maybe if they offered a grilled chicken or steak to serve on the risotto to provide some texture and char the dishes would be more successful. I take back my comment about the very nice service. I received a nasty response the«business manager».

I’d give it 3.5 stars if possible. Definitely room for improvement, but I’m thrilled to have a gluten free place in the neighborhood where it was lacking. The place is small and extremely loud. The servers are still learning their way(a few times they tried to give us food we hadn’t ordered). And the prices are still quite high. But the eggplant parm was probably the best I’ve ever had, including before I went gluten free 15 years ago. And having GF breadsticks on the table and GF croutons on my salad is exciting too. I really, really wish they had vegan cheese options for those of us that are also dairy free. And I hope they start delivering too. But for now, they have take out, a super busy business, and some really good food. So I’m going back. AND, my non gluten free boyfriend is willing to eat there. So hey… small miracles.

Nice little specialty spot that does its namesake dish proud. Tried the porcini mushroom risotto and it was pretty great — big portion, reasonably toothsome rice, properly reduced stock, plenty of thick slices of fungi. Approved. Also had the regular pizza(not gluten-free) with shrimp and gruyère, which is definitely a sacriligeous combination but also definitely tasty, especially with the generous applications of red sauce and garlic. Crust was distinctive — thin, very crisp, a little chewy, lightly charred. Not bad at all. The beer selections are weak, probably because they’re all gluten-free or low-gluten, but the wine list is respectable, if that matters to you. Ambiance is also solid, and service is friendly and on point. You can see how the original location has stayed in business for the past 15 years in the Village.

I’ve been the biggest fan of Risotteria in the west village, so I was thrilled to hear that a second location was opening near my apartment. After much anticipation, I dined here with my family this week and had an awesome experience. Their gluten free menu is tremendous; from pizza to pastas to paninis and risotto… It all sounds amazing. Our meal began with Risotteria’s signature gluten free bread sticks(such a treat), and my mom and I split GF eggplant parmesan and a GF margarita pizza. The ingredients were all fresh and delicious. Even my parents(who don’t ordinarily eat gluten free) were blown away by the textures and flavors in every bite. The staff was warm and welcoming — especially our waiter Willie — and we felt taken care of throughout our meal. I ended my dinner with a soft GF black and white cookie and left with a smile on my face. I know I’ll be a regular here!

I came here in a Thursday afternoon as soon as they opened and they were very accommodating for our large group of 10! First off, the breadsticks were surprisingly very crunchy, but nonetheless good, warm, and chewy. My friend and I split the Italian sausage & porcini risotto and the pesto sauce pizza w/mozzarella, zucchini, and oven-roasted tomato. The risotto was full of flavor and the sausage-porcini combo was excellent. With that said, however, I wish the flavors came together a bit more instead of feeling like separate entities. It would also have been better if the risotto was al dente(slightly over cooked). The pesto sauce pizza was thin crust and overall delicious. The zucchini added a nice texture to the chew with a touch of sweet. The pesto wasn’t overpowering and the tomato was the perfect balance of acidity, and I don’t even like oven roasted tomatoes! As I’m more of a NY pizza kind of girl, I would probably order something other than pizza next time I go, but for all you thin crust pizza with toppings lovers, knock yourselves out. Overall it was a pleasant experience and it’s really wonderful and easy if you’re on the UWS with a gluten free friend. I hope they come out with a separate lunch menu and maybe even go wild in the future with a brunch menu!

Risotteria has delivered flavorful risotto dishes in NYC for years, and an expansion has been due for a while. I’m glad it finally happened. This new location on the Upper West Side will satisfy all those craving a hearty and delicious Italian arborio rice dish. Some of my favorites: Shrimp, sausage, saffron, mozzarella — perfect combo of land and sea. Shrimp, hot peppers — the hot peppers accentuates the individual flavors of each of the components of the dish, and it’s finished with a little lemon zest on top. Pork shoulder, cotto ham, fontina — perfect for meat lovers. If you’ve been to the West Village location, it’s much more spacious, modern, and the food is fairly similar comparatively(N.B. I came on day 3 of opening so they may have ironed out some of the dissimilarities since then). Risotteria also serves tons of gluten-free and vegetarian options: perfect for all those dietarily restricted friends. Bottles of wine are cheap($ 30 – 40). Service is extremely cheerful and eager. Feels like home sometimes. Try it out!
