I love this place! I end up roaming their aisles for hours, even when I originally went in for one thing. They have everything you would expect at a hardware store AND THEN SOME. Lots of fun doodads. Best thing I was surprised and glad to know they carry is RALPH LAUREN textured paint collection. I’m a huge fan of brushed suede and aged leather… They have the whole collection! A++

Rented an 8″ ladder from here — The process was quick and painless, and was only $ 15 for the daily rental.

I am obsessed with this place. It’s not huge, but somehow they manage to pack in everything I’d ever need (…and want) into this corner gem.
Saifee hardware is much more than a traditional hardware store. They have a great selection of plants, seeds, bulbs, potting equipment and decorative pots/​vases/​rocks. They also have a little household décor like candles and small gift items.
What I love most about this place is their holiday section. For each season, they have a small but very well curated selection of holiday décor (and at reasonable prices.) I bought a ton of Halloween decorations here for a party, including these red bulbs I replaced in all my lamps in my apartment to create a spooky ambiance.

These guys are awesome. I’ve been going in almost every day to get stuff for my new apartment, and they are always so helpful. They didn’t have the size closet rod I needed, so one of the workers actually sawed a wooden pole to the right size for me. Then I was having trouble fixing a broken lamp, and one of the employees went out of his way to help me get the light socket fixed. Such good customer service!

Terrible service and the manager was pompous and rude. I had two keys copied at Saifee Hardware & Garden, neither of which worked. When I returned to the store with the keys and the receipt of purchase the manager refused to make any restitution because it was beyond their 7 day policy for exchanges/​credit. I could understand a 7 day policy if the item (s) were perishable but I paid good money for a bad product that didn’t work due to their incompetence. A bad policy and poor management. I will never shop at Saifee Hardware & Garden again.

probably the only thing Saifee can’t help you fix is yourself. while self-​introspection is allowed in the store. self-​medication or –reconstruction for that matter is not.
however the store and staff can outfit you with the basics and more to pretty up that exterior (your home, your garden, welcome/​goodbye mat, etc.) for «curb appeal» and to make your neighbz peanut butter and jealous.
or you can go below the surface and work on your inside game: pipes, electrical, lighting, paints, etc. from vast rows of both manual and power tools to nails, nuts, washers, and screws to a variety of sealants, epoxies, spackle, etc. you can get your apt’s innards into tip-​top shape… or simply make your domicile livable.
have a hanker to become a handyman err, handy person… your basics and more are here. now are they going to cheap? probably not. however you’re talking about a store in the heart of the east village that is catering to apartment dwellers who typically have limited fix-​it skills and are looking for simple solutions… like insulating your windows to replacing that allergen death trap of a an air-​conditioner filter…
this is not a wide aisle store. it is cramped from floor ceilings and has narrow-​ish aisles. there’s a general organization to the store which is not intuitive unless you’ve been there before. however if you live in the EV or surrounding areas and have first-​world apt problems then you’ve probably been to Saifee for first-​world solutions. yes there are other «hardware» stores on the avenues and elsewhere in the city, but chances are if you are not looking for complex tools for your toolbox… Saifee will Saiffice #seewhatididthere
the store despite its small stature can cover most needs from simple home décor to do-​it-​yourself improvement problems. the impressive part of the store to me is the dedication inside and outside to home gardening, potting plants, etc. plant life is the da bomb. that said i own no plants.
the staff? good and solid. however if you are looking for advanced repair advice… do your homework before hand and make a list of stuff you need, so the kind folks here can scan through it and give you the yay or nay on whether they can help you out and whether you’re buying the right stuff. in general the staff can give you basic repair advice, but again doing a little google ninja-​ing on your project will reap benefits, lessen your stress, and cut down on eating up a lot of the staff’s time… like measuring things beforehand as opposed to making wild hand gestures and stating obtuse dimensions of things helps them help you. aaaaand it’s also where the margin of error for most repairs is rather small, so measuring twice ends up being a godsend.
recently i had to purchase some metal netting and get a custom cut of it. i gave one of the speedy staffer the project. he walked me through samples of netting/​wiring they had. within minutes after giving him some precise dimensions. he he went downstairs to there inventory stash and cut the netting for me in a few minutes.
while self-​medication and plastic surgery seem to be the goto’s for self-do-it-yourself…your home still needs needs a bit of «sweat» and tooling to get it to where it’s functional and aesthetically pleasing. now you could go to Loews, home depot, etc. for large projects, but if you live in a prewar or one those post war modern monstrosities that are sometimes shoddily constructed… Saifee (a local biz) can give you the means to get your home life in order.

I have only gone to Saifee hardware for plants, small mint and basil plants for my fire escape. They seem to have a good selection and the staff is very knowledgable and helpful albeit busy on spring weekends.

I went here recently to buy some pots and a succulent plant. The staff was helpful, and the prices are right. If you’re looking for a vast selection of plants, this probably isn’t the place for you. But for basic plant supplies, it’s worth checking out.

Good selection and convenient, but everyone I’ve talked to knows less than nothing. Ask for paint thinner and you may get spray paint. Ask for help mounting on a metal stud and you’ll get told to «just use a screw».
If you know exactly what you need you’ll be fine.

This hardware store has just about everything and their items costs less than the big-​named hardware store down the avenue.
I’ve been shopping here for 11 years and is one of my go-​to hardware stores even though I live 8 blocks away and there are closer hardware stores closer to me.

I’ve been coming here for years because of the convenience factor and I have to say I’m done now. The employees have been rude to me on multiple occasions and the past two times I’ve gone the keys they made me didn’t work.

This place has everything. Ventured here looking for hydrophilic rocks for my indoor plants and not only did they have all the supplies needed they also had little trinkets needed to make your garden nice along with tools.
Also mason jars for 1.89. WHERE IN THE CITY CAN YOU FIND THAT!!! THIS PLACE AND ONLY THIS PLACE. I’ve been getting ripped off by the guys on the corner of 13^th and university for too long… Will always be coming back to Saifees now for all my gardening needs!

Great service. .. excellently stocked for New Yorkers looking to go green. .. great for houseplants and outdoor gardens alike — best all-​in-​one resource for soil, mulch, pots, and actual plants and trees.

Great place to have in the area. Has what you need. They’re a little pricey, but I assume so is their rent, so it works for me. If you need to load up on basics this isn’t the spot, but for a one off or a special purchase this place is great.
— All the little things you need for repairs around the «house»: screws, spackle, paint, wall anchors, extension cords, 2“x4“s, tension rods, etc, etc, etc. You’d be hard pressed to not find 90% of what you’d ever need here.
— Very attractive plants and pots
— Got some great decorative light bulbs – half covered in silverly metal on the inside – for an exposed light fixture on my ceiling
— Not a bargain, but the staff has in the past steered me to just what I need, instead of trying to sell me on the pricier version. That’s a good sign!

When did i become such a dude??? LOVE this hardware store. They have plants in the front of all sorts of variety! And pretty much any household item you need. DONE SON.

I’m obsessed with this place! They have everything you need for your home but the best part is unique little housewares like LED twinkle lights, light blue mason jars, and baby cacti.

I love this little store.
It’s a great alternative to Ace Hardware if you’re looking for some things with a little more charm.
Great vases, cute pots for indoor plants, candles, incense, and many other quirky little home items all at a pretty reasonable price.
I’ve also purchased several house plants from here, and the men in the store were very helpful in recommending which plants are best for low light, full sun, or in my case, which plants are the hardest to kill (and to their credit, I have yet to kill any plants after 4 months!)
Absolutely will return here again and again.
