Pretty straight forward stand in the middle of east village. Pops or shaved ice with a variety of changing flavors.
Got a coffee flavored pop ($ 3.50). Looks to have freezer burn on it, but I let it melt for a bit first. They don’t hold back on the taste — strong bitter coffee flavor that holds up better than ice cream in the hot sun.
Cash only establishment and just a stand so nowhere to sit. Okay overall, but not something I’d need to have again.

Everything in life is perfect with People’s Pops! I’ve had every flavor of their pops and I have to say, Raspberry and their Watermelon flavored ones are my favorite! Their pops are so fresh and never boring!

Grabbed a TableHopping freebie here — a super-​freezer burned* strawberry chocolate with coconut cream. Nice guy served it up from some random vestibule, which is open remarkably and likely foolishly early. *The whole ‘take it outta the wrapper when handing it to the customer’ thing would’ve been great had it not taken forever to thaw.

Well isn’t this just the cutest little shop. At first glance you probably won’t even see it… but right next door to the market on the corner of 1^st and 7^th there is a little pop out of a stand. And hey– they’re selling popsicles!
They had four flavors today and I selected the Tangerine Jasmine. These pops are bursting w/​flavor, so refreshing and so fruity but not overly sweet. A perfect little afternoon snack.
I know everything sounds awesome… but there are two things that I didn’t love about my visit. The first — the price of the pops. I’m not sure I’d be willing to pay $ 3.50 each time for a pop. It’s a little expensive, no? The second issue I had was the fruit fragments in the pop… not loving the bits of fruit and skin, I just wish the mixture was blended a bit more.

Had the apple basil pop. It was like frozen apple sauce.Ewww. The furtherest thing from refreshing on a hot summer day. And the most disconcerting thing about the pop were the endless bits of sharp apple skins in it, distracting like a hair in the mouth, instantly kicked off brain reaction to spit it out on ground and throw the pop in the garbage. I bet the shaved ice is better. I should of had shaved ice.

I opted on coming here because the line for big gay was way too long. There was no line at people’s pops so I forced three of my friends to come get some popsicles with me.
Although they are priced at $ 3.50 a popsicle, I think they are worth the price! The popsicles were not watered down like I expected them to be. They were packed with flavor and tasted very natural and fresh.
Although it was late and I’m sure the guy behind the stand was tired, he was super friendly and cracked some jokes along with me and my friends. He also told us a little bit about the process of making the popsicles and how often he had to replace the huge chunk of ice. Super cool!

These pops are amazing. I love that they use in-​season fruit. I’ve had the blueberry pop and the apple rose water pop. Minus one star because it’s cash only. I also got super lost trying to find them inside of Chelsea Market, but it was probably due to the mounds of tourists. Will definitely be trying the shaved ice next time.

I don’t mind paying extra for a place that really pours their heart into what they do– that’s the feel I got and you can really feel the passion. I got the yellow plum lemonade shaved ice and my friend got the blueberry apricot pop. Loved both of them.
I wish they had places like this in Texas where I live– so hot down here. We need your popsicles New York!

$ 2.50 for a little cup but it was just enough. Cash only.

Very cute shaved ice and popsicle «shop» on the street. Had few of their popsicles in the High Line park. This time had shaved ice. There’s a block of clear crystal ice in the middle of the counter. Don’t they afraid it’s gonna melt soon?
Anyway, we had plum orange blossom ice. The fresh shaved ice tasted so different from any other kind if you ever tried Taiwanese or Malaysian style shaved ice. The texture is just right to me. Cruchy ice melting with that wonderfully smelling plum orange juice. You can «chew» on it! But bf said it’s so sour to him. I liked it! So give it a try plus a live ice shaving show!

People who don’t get it are shocked that people will pay $ 3.50 for a posicle. Those people have never had *these* popsicles.

I attended an event yesterday in which the People’s Pops were serving up their icy confections. The flavor I tried was the Peach, blueberry, lavender. The pop was tasty, with real pieces of fresh fruit peeking through. The pop also wasn’t too cold, but was very refreshing on a hot day. I enjoyed the pop, but found the hint of lavender distracting.
The staff was friendly and I would gladly sample more of their pops in the future.

Get to the Chase:
Pros:
1) Awesome guy! He was super friendly and asked about us, where we had dinner and suggested some great flavors
2) The Coffee Cream and the Lavender and Apple Pops were SOOO refressshing on a hot summer day! So delicious, juicy and yummy!
3) Very easy to spot
Cons:
1) Unfortunately not all the flavors were winners :(Had the Plum + Mint and the Peach + Vanilla at Smorgasborg and they were too dry and sweet… tasted like licking a stick of purée
2) Price is a bit exorbitant for 1 popsicle $ 3.50

Yum! I was lucky enough to experience these pops at Madison Sq eats and my goodness they’re tasty.
Strawberry rhubarb pop was sweet and bright while blueberry yellow plum pop kept my lips puckered up. That yellow plum is crazy sour.
CAUTION: I almost broke a tooth biting into a plum pit. They use whole fruits in their pops and stray pits can wander into the finished products. Please be careful.

This is, I daresay, the perfect popsicle.
Delicious, refreshing, and not too sweet. I had the plum spearmint at the Brooklyn Flea recently, and I loved it. It was tart, and the spearmint wasn’t overwhelming at all — it was cooling. I love their combination of fruit and herbs — I’ve found with People’s Pops, the more interesting sounding the flavor combination, the yummier the popsicle.
$ 3.50 may be steep for frozen pureed fruit and herb infused simple syrup, which could definitely be made at home, but it’s worth the splurge. Especially to complete a New York summer moment.

I did not want to go to People’s Pops. I really, really did not want to.
Why?
I knew it was going to be absurdly delicious. People’s Pop would also be the last thing I would eat before leaving New York.
I did not want this foodie vacation to end. But everything must come to an end, and if I was going to do it right, I would end my incredible trip with a refreshing People’s Pops popsicle.
We made our way over to the People’s Pops stand, and I decided to get a chai fig popsicle while my friend decided to get the red plum basil popsicle.
We sat down on the bench in front of Van Leeuwen’s and started unwrapping our pops. I took a slow bite from my chai fig popsicle and… wow. Every bite had a bit of fresh fig accompanied by the subtle but fragrant chai that I’ve always loved. So we sat there, swinging our feet and gnawing on our popsicles as dogs and humans walked by, staring at us strangely as we constantly «mmmmm’ed» with every bite.
I couldn’t have ended my trip on a better dessert. It was a humid day, I didn’t have very much money left and all I wanted was something cold and refreshing, and People’s Pops had it. Now if only they would set up shop in LA…

Refreshing!
I got some watermelon shaved ice at Brooklyn Flea this past weekend and I was very happy with my choice. The watermelon was basically sweetened fresh watermelon juice, but it was so refreshing. And another thing to note is the shaved ice consistency. It’s not like your traditional Hawaiian shaved ice, where it’s literally shaved. This shaved ice isn’t as granular and it reminded me more of a sno cone you would get at the carnival. Either way, it brought back great memories and I would definitely try another one if I ever stop by their stall. Their popsicles sound delicious, but are a little too pricey for me to try ($ 3.50 a pop).

Wow, the menu is so simple. They’ve got Sweet Rhubarb Shaved Ice for $ 2.50. Four types of Ice Pops: Rhubarb Jasmine, Yellow Plum, Blueberry Ginger, and Apricot Hibiscus. The flavors change daily. The ice pops are about $ 3.50 each.
I decided to try the Apricot Hibiscus. It was so refreshing and is exactly what I needed on a HOT Summers day. I could taste the fresh fruit and they sure packed a lot of it in this ice pop. Yes, $ 3.50 for a fruit pop is leaning towards the pricier side. However, I do appreciate the pieces of fresh fruit found throughout the pop.
In my opinion, an ice pop from People’s Pops tastes better than a fruit bar purchased in the frozen section of a grocery store. The flavor options are limited, but they are so UNIQUE. Rhubarb Jasmine? How cool is that?
