Smile Moving

I don’t usually write reviews but this time is an exception. This company was recommended by my colleague, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I scheduled my move on Friday from 3 – 5 pm. Day before got confirmation that they will come, I scheduled everything from my side so the elevator would be on hold, got from work earlier and started waiting, at about 4:30 pm got a little bit nervous so I called them, no body picked up the phone, wrote an email with no responds. I tried to call them multiple times and about 6 pm I just gave up, nobody contact me and they did not showed up. This company does not look serious It is more like kindergarten. Until this day they haven’t explained me what happened.

My appointment was for 8−9AM and the movers arrived at about 8:45. I had a bunch of loose items that weren’t boxed up, but the movers did a great job of getting things into boxes and into the truck quickly/​safely. I had my stuff into the new apartment a little over three hours later, but they only charged me for three hours. The guys were friendly and professional. I would definitely use them again.

This is by far the worst moving company I have ever dealt with and they made my move day a complete and total nightmare. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON’T USE THIS COMPANY!
I had hired two movers for two hours. Seems simple enough, right? And I had even made my reservation almost a month before my move date. Three days before my move, I called to confirm. Not only did they have the wrong address, but they also had my phone number incorrect. I thought to myself, thank god I called or else they wouldn’t of showed up!
Well, guess what? The movers DID NOT SHOW UP ON MY MOVE DAY. We moved into a 4^th floor walk up apartment and the movers didn’t show up. They were scheduled to arrive at noon. At 12:15p, I called the main # and got not answer. I called about 20 more times over the next hour and still got no answer. Finally, 1.5 hours after the movers were supposed to arrive, the guy that answers the phones at Smile goes «Yea, someone called me a bunch of times from this number?»
I totally lost my cool and could not believe that not only did I pay for movers to come and they did not show, but then this guy is making a comment about me calling a lot. Are you serious?! He «apologized» and said they were running behind and they would be there in 30 minutes. At this point, it was 2 hours after they were supposed to show up and we had already moved almost everything.
I called my credit card company and got refunded immediately from these bozos. I usually don’t write Unilocal reviews but feel so strongly about this company that I had to warn other NYC’ers about this awful, awful company. Spend the extra dough and hire a real moving company. SMILE MOVING IS THE WORST!

Very disappointed with services or lack thereof. My appointment was for 12 – 2 pm and still waiting for them to come. I have been calling the home office which at times no answer. After 15 minutes late from
The original set time they told me they will be on their way then 12:45 comes no movers call again the time was changed to 2−3pm. Luckily my father had an SUV which I packed with small stuff went to my new apartment around 130pm. Return to old apartment by 2pm waiting for them to come and still waiting finally got a call from Frank saying they are 7 blocks away 3 pm comes and goes and I called frank he tells me he is at another job an that because of the delay they are giving me a 4^th person to make my move faster.
Finally at 440pm called the office again and still waiting at this point. After trying to getting in contact every hour with the frank I had enough that I texted him how to cancel the move that’s when another person Mark called me stating they are around the corner and will be at my apartment in 20 – 30 minutes. End result cancelled the move after waiting for 7 hours with excuses of we will be there in 20 – 30’minutes. My time was spent waiting was a waste of a day.
Will NEVER use them or suggest them to others. I don’t want to give them stars but Unilocal is making me

I had a great experience with this company. I called less than a week before my move from a 3^rd floor walk-​up studio apartment to a one-​br across town and they were extremely accommodating. They called to confirm my appt the day before and confirmed all the details so they could be best prepared. They were running a few minutes late the the day of my move but called to let me know. Perfectly reasonable.
I was quoted 2 and a half hours and they moved everything out and to my new place in the exact amount of time. There were two movers and I was impressed by their efficiency. I probably had more things to move than I originally anticipated but they still were able to handle it in the time given. Extremely courteous and professional. Great service, reasonable rate and definitely worth every penny. I hope I do not have to move again anytime soon, but if I do I will certainly be giving these guys a call!

I originally reviewed this and gave them 2 stars but I have since edited this because I recently spoke with a representative from the company and he was incredibly understanding, accommodating, and helpful. He explained the situation and was generous in fixing the issue.
I’ve never dealt with a company that was so swift to fix any issues I may have had during my move — they were keen on listening to my needs and even went into depth discussing the day and some of the reasons these issues below might have happened.
Because of the 180 in the service, I would definitely recommend them. It shows that they do care about their company and making it grow — as well as ensuring the customer is happy! They’re not just there to pocket some cash, but they genuinely want to ensure you are pleased with their service.
The movers themselves were wonderful guys — personable and helpful.
In the old review the issues I had were the:

I’m giving these guys my stamp of approval. Not only are they one of the movers with the best prices in NYC. But more importantly, they’re extremely fast and reliable movers.
Our call-​time was 10AM, and Eric plus 3 other guys from Smile Moving were on my doorstep 5 minutes ahead of time. Within 45 minutes, all of my stuff was out of my old house and loaded onto their truck. The move included a 3-​foot pile of documents and books that I forgot to tell them about. They moved it with no questions asked or additional expenses. This is a breathe of fresh air as other movers would stop, draw their calculators out, and charge you extra.
The whole move took 2 hours and 45 minutes, which is 15 minutes shorter than the 3-​hour window I was quoted. Bottom line, it was the least stressful move in my life.
I’m recommending them with full confidence!

My fiancé and I called Smile Moving at the last minute in a bit of a panic (literally the day before) because our original mover failed to return our phone calls. Fortunately, Smile Moving was able to accommodate our request and the time we wanted. The best moving experience I’ve ever had. I’m admittedly a bit OCD and extremely protective of my furniture, but the two movers who arrived quickly put my fears to rest. They handled everything with care. Somehow they managed to be both extremely careful AND fast. Also, they were so polite, nice, and professional. Terrific service! I will recommend them to everyone I know. Great job!

You get what you paid for??? No way! I got a million dollar service for a great value! Got 3 guys who were friendly, professional, quick, and took instructions like a champ.

I was very happy with the service smile moving provided. I had to move on the crazyness of hurricane Sandy and they were very accommodating considering the problems we faced such as the insane traffic and lack of power in the apartment/​neighborhood. The movers were professional and helpful. I would use them again.
