History
Established in 2005.
The Modern is a fine dining restaurant located at the Museum of Modern Art featuring the contemporary American cuisine of Executive Chef Abram Bissell with desserts by Pastry Chef Jiho Kim. In addition to The Modern, which overlooks the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, The Modern offers The Bar Room, a more casual dining and bar area and two private dining rooms. A separate street level entrance on West 53rd Street allows guests to enjoy the restaurant and bar beyond Museum hours. The Modern has won James Beard Awards for «Best New Restaurant,» «Outstanding Restaurant Design,» «Best Chef: NYC», and «Outstanding Wine Service.» The Bar Room and The Modern both hold three stars from The New York Times, and the restaurant holds two Michelin stars.
