Don’t waste your time. He wasted a month of ours.

I needed to fence my entire yard to make it safe for my dogs. My estimate was fair and the work was completed in three days. His crew was efficient and cleaned up the area each evening. Jason made sure I was happy with the work, making some adjustments for me on the last day at no extra charge. (It was a minor change).
I would recommend JPL Construction to my friends and neighbors.

I had recently just moved in to a new house and wanted a privacy fence constructed. I’m a little paranoid sometimes about home safety and all of that, so the fence was an important «peace of mind» thing I really wanted. I called up Jason and he asked me a couple of questions and gave me a quote after I emailed him some photos of the project area.
It was really just a small project for him, but he fit me in quickly and had it built in a day. Very reasonable pricing and just overall super awesome to deal with. I immediately felt comfortable with Jason and his crew. I highly recommend JPL!

Jason did a terrific job quickly and for a reasonable price. He dug up and moved one of the gate posts at no extra charge and it and the fence are things of beauty that really add something to the look of the house. He was extremely attentive and his follow-​through was excellent. I would not hesitate to use Jason again.

I have used Jason for a couple of jobs now and I have to say he is an excellent contractor. First, I had him come out and build a fence a couple of months ago, which he did a great job on. He and his crew completed the work quickly and to a high standard of quality, and for a reasonable cost. I was so satisfied with his work that I asked him to come back and do another project for me inside the house (removing a non-​load bearing wall and constructing a bar). Again, he gave me a reasonable quote, came in and did the work quickly and with high attention to quality and the details. I had electrical work going on at the same time, and he was very thoughtful in coordinating with my electrical contractor that was there as well, and also gave me some good advice about other projects I had going on.
In addition, a couple of days after he had finished my wall, I had an emergency where I had a sump pump go bad and my basement was flooded. I was tied up with a number of other issues and had no time to deal with it, and in a panic I called him on a weekend and asked if he knew anything about fixing pumps. He came out on a weekend and replaced the pump for me and didn’t even charge me a full hour of time!
I’ve talked to Jason about several projects that we are thinking about, and overall I find him to be not only extremely knowledgeable but also extremely thoughtful about anything having to do with construction or remodeling. He actually cares about his work, and he cares about the details. He will give you an honest quote, he is extremely transparent about all the costs involved and what he’s doing, and he will deliver the job well.

The short: Avoid the headache and find another contractor. Looks like all these other reviews are from years ago, so I’m not sure what changed but our recent experience working with Jason was a painful, manipulative, and cost us $ 4000 more than we agreed on. Yes, he finished the work, but seriously there are plenty of qualified, good and most importantly honest contractors to work with, Jason at JPL is NOT one of them. He’s shady, and strong-​arms his clients into last minute payments based on his ADMITED mistakes.
The long: We hired Jason to build two retaining walls and a fence across the top. After looking at the plan my husband and I decided that we need to close off an area for our dogs to play in. I met Jason at the site and we spent about 20 mins walking through and discussing the changes. I made it clear why we were making the changes and he agreed. I asked for an adjusted bid. My mistake was being to lenient or trusting. We never got the adjusted bid, instead he showed me the old one that he had hand written on and crossed certain items out, and he gave me an adjusted final cost. We agreed on the final cost and I wrote him a check for ¹⁄₃ of the amount. We agreed the job would be paid in three installments. Minutes later he knocked on the door and said he had forgotten one line item (Note: this was for a waterline HE BROKE and then convinced my husband was not to code so he conveniently offered to rip the whole pipe out and replace it. He also told my husband one price on the phone and then told me another price in person. Thankfully I checked with my husband and called him out on it. But we moved forward giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake or miscommunication. This was my second mistake, trusting Jason again.) Over 5 days later I STILL had not seen my adjusted bid and so I texted him for a receipt for the amount paid and a copy of the bid. Nothing, we got a useless computer printout that no one would accept as proof of payment, and NO BID. But we moved forward. The day before the last day I texted him again to confirm the remaining work and he admitted that he completely forgot the entire conversation we had had about the closed off area and that he wasn’t planning on doing that work. He said he could send me a new bid for that work. Mind you, I had already paid ¹⁄₃ of the amount we had agreed on after the walkthrough.
On the phone that night he admitted his mistake, that he FORGOT the work we had agreed on and said that he would complete the agreed upon work for the agreed upon price and asked for another check. I wrote the 2^nd of 3 payments and gave it to him the next day. He took the check from me, since that was what we agreed on and when I left he approached my husband and BEHIND MY BACK told him that he had made another mistake and the final cost was $ 4000 more. He asked for the new full amount from my husband, because he knew at this point I would have questioned this new cost.
When I got home I confronted him and he went immediately on the defensive, trying to back track on paperwork that he pulled out of nowhere, literally papers I had never seen before, and «walk me through» the work. This is the final day, after he would have happily walked away from a job half done because he «forgot a conversation» he had with a client and then went back on his word AND made a clerical error of $ 4000!!! I asked how he could have missed this when he took the checks from me and all I got was a shrug. I asked what he meant on the phone call the night before when he agreed to finish the work for the price we agreed on and he flat out said «Well I just said that, then I sat down and looked it over.» Apparently that’s when he found the time to write up the magical paperwork he tried to sneak by me and to my husband behind my back.
He then went on to attack my character saying that I was trying to cut corners. He was happy to point the finger, accuse me of «capitalizing on his mistake» and not take any responsibility. He then stared me down and told me «If I don’t pay the new full amount I was basically getting 20 feet of wood for free and that he wouldn’t make any money on the job.» I can’t fathom how in a matter of days he went from quoting me $ 10k and taking a down payment, to losing out on ALL his profit if I didn’t cough up $ 4k at the 11^th hour. He tried to manipulate me emotionally and bully me into getting his way. I stood strong and told him I thought he was dishonest but I refuse let his words and tactics make me question myself.
We paid the «full amount» because we believe in living with integrity, but I would NEVER work with him again. His mistakes were costly and more importantly he mistreats his clients.

Jason and Tino of JPL Construction installed/​hung two doors in my finished basement and did an excellent job. His work is top-​notched and was honest enough to let me know that he was able to get the materials several hundred dollars cheaper than his initial quote and that saved me a good deal of money. It is difficult with so many contractors out there to find good, dependable and honest one. Jason is your good, dependable and honest contractor.

I am so happy to have found JPL Construction. I had a need for a quick construction job and Jason accomodated my quick timeline with a true quality job. I am thrilled to recommend him and will use him again without question.

Jason and crew just finished a fence repair for me and did a very good job for a reasonable price. He listened to what I needed and then discussed different options with me. He is friendly and communicates well and promptly by phone and email. I would certainly use JPL again.

I contacted Jason to do some work on a fence extending down a steep ravine in the back of my house. He was polite and helpful on the phone and arrived right on time to look at the job calling prior to confirm his arrival. He made a very reasonable bid on the work needed to be done and he and his crew showed up right on time the next day to do the job. Because of the steepness of the incline, this was not easy work but Jason and his crew did great work and finished the job faster than I thought possible. He is easy to talk with and as honest as the day is long. I would strongly recommend him for a variety of home improvement and repair projects. I intend to use his services in the future and highly recommend him to others.

We just used Jason’s services to fix a fence and a couple of wooden gates on our property. Jason is a licensed general contractor who specializes in residential construction projects. He came highly recommended from our neighborhood listserv, and we were not disappointed. I called him up late in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve Day, and he showed up 15 minutes later to give an estimate even though it was a holiday. He was very friendly from the get go, and his price for the work was ~$ 100 less than the next lowest estimate we found. He arrived just before 9 am on the day he promised to do the work, and was finished in less than two hours. Great service and great price! We will strongly consider using him again for future projects.
