Gayle and I recently bought a few hours of Michael Carter’s time to determine if we needed a prenuptial agreement and to possibly mediate a legally-​binding document. One reality is that all marriages end, whether via divorce or death do us part. And what a prenup really does is allow couples to mutually agree on the division of property and other issues beyond what the State provides. This is sometimes a particular issue for blended families such as ours.
Michael came highly recommended and confirmed that trust with his calm, kind, and knowledgeable demeanor and advice. He was excellent in explaining the relevant aspects of Family Law, and associated terms, processes, and options. We were also pleased that Gayle and I could sit in the same room and talk as a team, rather than each of us hiring an attorney and creating a potential adversarial situation at the very beginning.
There are also other options regarding property and finances in a blended family situation. Two examples are Life Insurance and Estate Planning (including Wills), and that was the strategic direction that Michael Carter helped us decide that was right for us.
