Horrible selection for crafters– scrapbooking and Card making

Drove from Santa Barbara and your closed! Update your Unilocal site! My wedding is next week and this was the only time I could come down. Very disappointed

The best customer service! Which is rare, these days you gotta search and chase people around to get some good help. Kathy was beyond helpful when asking about sewing machines. (And I bought one thanks to her motivating words) she really knew what she was talking about. Also Vanessa I believe her name was, (the manager) was getting pulled around by every customer and she did great helping each customer with a smile! What a great team!

Oh dear me. This poor store is trying so hard to be so bad. The remodel just made it confusing to find things (there doesn’t seem to be ANY logic to the layout anymore) and I don’t think the employees are having any better luck. Nothing is ever in stock, and the bolts are a mess. And there is NO excuse to not be able to answer simple sewing questions when you work in a fabric store. My first job at 16 years old was working for the House of Fabrics chain and I know it’s a challenge to learn it all but these people have been working this store for at least a few years now and still manage to cut my fabric crooked every single time. Do your homework… actually SEW something yourself, learn about the fabrics, figure out how to read a pattern. There’s just no excuse.
In addition, the «Joann exclusive» fabrics are terrible quality. They are thin and fade within months. If you’re a crafter and not picky about the textiles you use, this is your place. Quilters please PLEASE go elsewhere. This store is not for you.

The customer service reps are friendly and try to do their best but they always seem to be overworked and understaffed. There is always a really long line at the checkout too. Today there were 10 people in line in front of me and 3 behind me and they only had one cashier. She was working on two registers at once and greeting people coming in (A for effort on her part). This goes for pretty much every Jo-ann’s I’ve ever been to all over the country so that tells me it’s corporate headquarters making poor decisions. Idk if its a thing where they know they dont really have any competition or what. This chain needs a major overhaul from the top down.

Horrible customer service. I went to the cutting table and the two ladies did not acknowledge me. They did see me after a few minutes and completely ignored me. Instead of helping me they decided to finish the conversation they were having before I had shown up. After they were done, they still didn’t help me because neither of them were supposed to be at the cutting table and they didn’t know who was supposed to be either. I felt like I was an inconvenience to them because I wanted to get my fabric cut… at the cutting table. Not friendly or helpful. I was trying to find certain things and they just pointed to where they ‘think” it was instead of walking me over to it and help me find it. I didn’t find what I needed and felt like an inconvenience. Learn some customer service ladies.

Great store for crafty people, I always take my daughter there to get her arts and crafts. She decided to get some modeling clay and the prices were very competitive they also price match that’s a good thing if you remember to bring in the ad or coupon (I never do). The fabric selection in my honest opinion is unmatched locally great selection of fabric, but the prices can get up there if you want the good fabric. If you have a large project it is better to head down to the fabric district and get wholsale. Any how the store is clean and we’ll stocked massive selection of clay, paint and brushes my kid loves it. The customer service is great the cashier who helped me, Saorie was very kind and helpful. The aisles are wide and the product is very well distributed with clear signs so it is easy to find I like this store!

Came here several times this summer with minor crafts I worked on. For the most part the store was clean and most of their items were in its place.
Some staff are super helpful. I came in today to get fabric glue. I scoped out the whole place, specially the perimeter where the fabrics were to attempt to find it myself. No luck finding it. So I asked the gentle man at the register, who was super helpful. So I found the product I was looking for then when come to pay, I noticed he left to help another customer. As I waited in line for him to return approx a min or two I noticed another lady in the end of the cash registers just there. Not offering to help so I can pay for my item. So I asked nicely if she was open and she replied «yes» tried to make small talk but she just stared and me. So I just said politely «have a good day.»
Overall a nice store with all your fabric needs it seems and pretty organized. But don’t count on the customer service too much. It’s a hit or miss it seems.

The customers are nice, generally kind humans from my experience shopping here. There are the occasional parents who insist on continuing their shopping while their baby wails or their toddlers whine loudly, which does affect the energy of the environment. Even on days without the eardrum-​punching, many of the staff obviously hate working here and they certainly give the appearance that don’t like working with each other. The exception to the mood is Sue and the tall, skinny guy. I hope that they won’t eventually be worn down by the effusive crabbiness of the other staff.
The selection is ok. Usually has the basics. I appreciate the re-​design of the store; it looks very nice and is more visually welcoming than before. The tendency for long lines remains an issue.
Three stars for the redesign and for Sue and the skinny guy. Sunday morning seems to be the time to go; most everyone was in a good mood.

They just revamped their store and it looks great! The store is more open and better organized and their customer service seems better. Thumbs up!

I love the Jo-Ann’s chain i have been to several different ones around southern ca, unfortunately the closest one to me is an hour in either direction. I only recommend going to this location if you know what you need and don’t need help finding it. I asked for help at one point and was told the fabric i needed might be over there somewhere, and pointed to another section of the store. On another occasion i needed spray paint that was in one of the locked cages, it took my asking 4 time to get a manager over there to help me. Not fun when your in a hurry. This one is run down, that can not be helped just a comment. Something that can be helped however is the condition of the restrooms, every time I go there they are disgusting. I am sorry but i have attached pictures. Each time i go to this store they look very similar to these photos.

was so filthy inside compared to Hobby lobby. I probably will never go back there. there selection of materials is so outdated. please get updated materials. You are so back in the ’80’s.

I stopped in here the other day just after visiting their new neighbor, Hobby Lobby. In comparison to that store, I really like that JoAnn’s has a VERY heavy focus on crafts and creating stuff from base parts. I did not find the other store to have anything near the variety and selection in the crafting endeavors I personally participate in, including baking/​decorating, beads/​jewelry, leathercraft, accessories (like making handbags and stuff) and paper craft/​scrapbooking.
One disappointing thing is the neighbor store renovated before moving in, so in comparison JoAnns looks like a very old and worn down location. The floors look grubby and the fabric department was a mess due to the customer push for Halloween costumes. There are always good sales going on here and I’ll come here before I visit next door since this place actually has things I like, but I wish it looked a little spiffier.
I am more a fan after visiting the neighbors and I’m glad we have this sort of craft supplier in town. I drive by this store nearly every day and it’s very conveniently located.

They do get 2 stars just because they did help me a tad. Not only was I looking for perler beads everywhere in ventura county and they were the only store who still had some. I found a variety pack but needed only the basic colors like white and black in a bulk. I asked the girl and she said I had to drive to Thousand Oaks. I ask for a transfer and she said no. I asked for a discount if I had to drive she just said there’s a coupon online for 1 item. Which I already used that this store so I couldn’t use it again. This company doesn’t like to help there customers too much I guess.

I love Jo-​Ann stores. They seem to always have just what you need, and at decently affordable rates. I recently visited this Jo-​Ann F&C on Rose, and was pretty shocked at the customer service.
At the cutting counter, I attempted to make small talk with the guy assisting me, and he totally ignored me. I thought, «Oh well, maybe he’s having a rough day and doesn’t want to talk.» Being in customer service myself, I understand that. But… at least smile and acknowledge your customer speaking to you. Then, he started bantering with his coworker about another coworker that they don’t like and how they want to get her in trouble for something she did… right in front of me! SUPER unprofessional. Then, during checkout, I asked the cashier if she would have change for the $ 100 bill I wanted to pay with (a pesky bill that I myself had been paid with that the ATM wouldn’t accept because it was a little crumpled) that I wanted to get rid of. She stood there, and said (very coldly), «I don’t know.» Then just stood there looking at me… so I paid with my card. I don’t know. I totally get having a bad day, honestly I do. But the whole vibe from the employees in that store was just bad.
I’ll be going back because it’s the only Jo-​Ann store close to me… but I am really hoping for a little more friendliness in the future.

With the fall growing closer most crafters begin to think about getting back to working on there crafty projects completing or starting on their holiday goods before the big days of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah etc. are here, actually, You may be planning a crafty project for any reason @ anytime of the year .
List made and in hand arriving at this store with high hopes again. I have have the benifit of the doubt to the store more than one occasion. Yet have consistently been met with a lot of reoccurring issues.
The parking lot is busy it. Sharing in the same Shopping center as Sams Club, hobby lobby &ross to name a few this means; one can usually can depend on it being a very busy lot with minimal parking in front of Joann’s.
The store is large and brightly lit, making finding things on your list easier provided they have it .the inventory and selections are not very wide and more often then not will not have what I am looking for. I do live close so I still shop here when I don’t have time or can’t get out to other shops.
The inside is quiet clean and has never felt overly crowded, however, in my opinion Joann’s is understaffed and not as attentive to the needs of there customers. I place a lot of value on customer service. I would probably frequent more and not be bothered by this fact but it’s lack of priority makes standing in the often slow lines a tad irritating and discouraging to me as I stand there feeling like I’m in a store spending my hard earned cash and they not adequately staffing customer flow to employee ratios feels like there bottom line is more important than there customers time & needs. If they only knew they could be so much more successful building a loyal customer base if they’d just pick up the slack already.

No help… Dude couldn’t even search to see if they had what I was looking for … Very happy an arts and crafts store is moving next door… Good bye joans

My girlfriend drags me here to buy fabrics and patterns for here costumes and eventually a set of pajama bottoms for me lol!
It has just about every pattern and fabric, equipment and supplies. The service is always amiable and one day the guy at the check out counter was super nice so instead of 3 starts they get 4 based on this one guy’s customer’ service.
Sure, my girlfriend laments that there is more variety and lower prices in Los Angeles but Jo-Ann’s works in a pinch!

Went shopping for some (a lot) of fabric tonight and everything was on sale plus I had a coupon. The cashier was the best cashier I’ve had by far at any store. She made sure I used all the coupons I could. Which turned out to be more then I thought I could. I ended up saving $ 22.43. What an awesome experience at Joann’s. Highly recommend shopping there. Make sure you print out coupons before you go.

I’m really surprised to see that Jo-​Ann has received low scores but I think the pros outweigh the cons:
Pros:
+ Oxnard location (much easier to reach than Michael’s in Ventura)
+ Fabrics (since Michael’s doesn’t carry it and Walmart’s fabric section has downsized)
+ 40% off coupon from their ads located at the store entrance
+ Large clearance/​sale section in the back
Cons:
— Cluttered shelves
— Not a lot of employees
I would definitely be coming back for more creative craftiness :)
