If you want to waist your day waiting come to the quest lab, only one employee working, it is bad, very bad. make an appointment or you are spending the day in hire.

I went to Quest Diagnostics for a routine blood test and, when the tech told me my physician had ordered a few additional routine blood tests, I asked what the charge would be as I didn’t want a big bill for tests that could easily wait for a later date. I was told that the charge would not be over $ 150 so I did the tests. A few weeks later I get a bill for $ 635!!! Apparently my insurance wouldn’t cover the tests but the Quest personnel had my Anthem card when they told me what the charge would be. Why didn’t they say they weren’t sure what the charge would be if they didn’t know? Instead, I was misinformed and now I have this huge bill for something I didn’t really need! I called every customer service number I could find for Quest to no avail. Then I went done to the clinic in Monterey that gave me the tests and, although they sounded very sympathetic, they gave me a phone number that was no longer working!!! URGH!!!

With so many terrible reviews and other places to get lab work done, AVOID this place and Kathleen D. the receptionist/​lab technician. I took my daughter in for lab work a few months ago, knowing it would be costly, I asked to pay the discounted cash price (which is offered by Quest at the time of service.) Kathleen told me NOT to do this, as I’d save much more by sending the bill to my insurance even if they did not cover any testing, they’d negotiate a better price. She was still adamant about it, even after I explained our policy only covers major medical.
To make a long story short, I ended up paying almost $ 1000 and could’ve saved 30% of this amount. I went in to speak with Kathleen to see if she could be of any help, and she was rude and totally unhelpful. Had it been myself, I would have at least had some concern and been very sorry and apologized. Of course there was no help from Quest Diagnostics, not even so much as a response though they were contacted by the BBB.

My one star is for the inefficiency of this location. I know that if you don’t have an appointment, you are doomed. I had to see my doctor yesterday, who needs blood work ASAP. I couldn’t get in to the Monterey office, yesterday, because they turned me away at 4:15pm (though their hours say until 4:30pm). I got there at 7:15 and Kathleen, the robot, reminded me that I have to wait as appointments get priority. Note: that would be great at the San Jose Street, Salinas office, as I wait 45 minutes, WITH an appointment. So, I wait. But every 15 minutes an appointment shows up, and The Robot repeats the waiting stuff. After 45 minutes, I ask her that if everyone has an appointment, does this mean I wait all day? The robot shakes her heads and repeats her memorized line… appointments get priority and we are a one person office. I am on hold with Quest customer service, complaining. They should change their office door to say «by appointment only». If you don’t have one, be prepared to wait until Armageddon happens.

I have always come here for bloodwork and loved the staff, however I went in today and was helped by an employee named Kathleen. MAYBE it was a bad day, but after she called me back, I mentioned I need to lay down as I often pass out. She begrudgingly said we will move to the next room. She then proceeded to sit me in the chair and try to take my blood. Thinking she had forgotten that I have problems fainting, I reminded her politely, she then became aggressive and tried to play it off as she was measuring for the vein, although I know she had truly forgotten as after she put me in the waiting room, then she left for 10 – 15 minutes. Mind you– I have always been laid down and THEN checked by the regular staff so I really didn’t know anything different. She then put me on the bed, and proceeded to JAB the needle into my arm. I have never had anything hurt more than a pinch, but this hurt beyond belief. She then began to lecture me as though I was a complete idiot and then YANKED the needle from my vein. I signed, said thank you, and left quickly. It is about an hour later and my arm has gone from complete pain to entirely numb. If you go in and see Kathleen, run out– everyone else is wonderful!

The reception was the rudest person I have run into. I canceled my appointment and will go to another lab. This was on June 2^nd, 2015.

The staff is always patient and friendly. This is where I always go for blood work because they are so efficient.

I showed up at lunchtime and Kathleen was just leaving to take her lunch break and she noticed me walking up to the building door and asked if I were needing her services and I replied «yes» without any delay Kathleen unlocked and opened the door, asked me to fill out a brief form and had me in within 10 minutes, drawing blood was quick, simple, and no bruising Kathleen did a fabulous job. I thank her and whoever hired her. The customer service was like it was back in the day when employees cared about their customers.
I do recommend this Quest Diagnostics Center.
