The wrost hospital I’ve been. They are not honest at all. They try to get your money as much as possible. Disgusting.

I’ve got to update my review. While I was waiting to be discharged from the ER, a registration person approached me. He asked me if I needed a blanket, water, or the lights lowered (for my sleeping baby). I told him I was treated well while in the ER, but that the waiting room was a disaster. I may have said it more nicely. But, something like that.
He told me that he was actually on a committee to improve the waiting room experience. He said that they were in the data collection phase right now, but are trying to make it better. I asked him if he wanted my feedback. He gave me an enthusiastic yes and took notes as I told him my experience. He then came up with several ideas they had to improve the experience. Maybe offering blankets or drinks out there, or at least telling people why they couldn’t have them (cant have blanket if fever or drink because of certain test). Or having volunteers help, better training for staff, etc. Him just wanting to listen, made me feel better. H even shared about a book he was reading on how to improve it. I was convinced. Anyways…
Right now, they are still at a low score. But, they had good ideas. They seem to be working on it. Hopefully, I won’t have to go back to the ER for awhile, but when I do, I may give them a try to see if there are improvements. The service I received once I made it in was fine and my Pediatrician did recommend them over Arcadia Methodist because of their pediatric department.

I will never come back to this Hopital nor will anyone else once a file for negligence and malpractice for emotional damages and physical damages on the floor of Doctors who was sited to West Wing Floor 650. I won’t mention his name and his nurses staff yet but soon enough the star news and local news station will know.

Admitted to ER with chest pains yesterday. From the receptionist to the triage staff … every encounter with every staff member was stellar. Transferred to the cardiac wing where if I could I would give the staff 10 stars. Every single person exhibited professionalism tempered with kindness and thoughtfulness. I feel so blessed to have been fortunate enough to land at Huntington Memorial.

So my review is going to be a little bitter sweet.
First the emergency room wait is a joke… Expect to wait at least 5−10hrs to get treated. Thats def unacceptable on all levels!!!
My father was here for a week or soo the nurses are awesome and sooo helpful!

The one star is for the hospital… If I was talking about just the doctors, I’d give them five… but, the hospital was so quick to send me to collections that it made my head spin. A month and a half after paying a thousand dollars on my bill, the other thousand was sent to collections, Less than 60 days! I’d just paid half of the bill! I am so offended by them I could spit. Beware of their business office!
Go to Glendale Adventist if you’re having real problems. If you just need an ER, go to Verdugo Hills… it’s only about 8 minutes up the 210 freeway from Huntington. I have never waited longer than 20 minutes for exemplary care at Verdugo Hills ER. Glendale Adventist Hospital is state of the art and has exceptional physicians. And, they aren’t «business first», like Huntington. Patient comes first at Glendale Adventist.
I’m SO mad!

I had my daughter at Huntington Memorial on 10÷25÷15 and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! I arrived to triage with my husband around 4:30am and was admitted and situated right away. I got all plugged in and they ran tests on me for awhile. Once all the tests and observations were complete, I was moved into a L&D room. The room was a decent size and had a TV. Since it was a Sunday, I put on NFL games and my husband and I watched while we waited for our princess to arrive. Throughout my labor, the nurses were great at making sure I was comfortable and warm. I got fresh warm blankets whenever I was cold and I was consistently checked in on. They also heeded to my birth plan, which was pretty simple and flexible. ***A special shout out to LYNETTE for being an AMAZING nurse… absolutely the best. She was funny, attentive, and kind. I really lucked out being there during her shift… she made sure I was comfortable and monitored me throughout the day and helped deliver my baby (fondly nicknamed «bootcamp baby»…long story).*** I don’t know if it was the warm blankets or what, but that bed was seriously more comfortable than a Westin or a Ritz Carlton bed! True story! It was sooo comfy and I took a nice long nap on it!
At the time of delivery, 2 additional nurses were in the room with Lynette and my OB (Dr. Fong… who is also amazing). I felt very secure and well taken care of with all of those ladies in the room with me! They were also my personal cheerleading squad when it came time to push :-) Once my baby was born and I got through my Golden Hour, another nurse came in to take her vitals. Not once throughout my 11 hour stay at L&D did I feel alone or uncared for.
After Golden Hour, I was transferred over to Maternity and ended up with a double room all to myself! Must’ve been slow those days :-). My husband was able to sleep comfortably in the extra bed. The room and the bathroom were very nice and clean. There was a phone right next to my bed that I used to contact my nurse on duty. I also used the phone to order my food! Let me tell you, the food here was legit! I had the Asian Chicken Salad, numerous pepperoni pizzas, cookies, soup, and I can’t remember what else. The yogurt parfait was forgettable though. The portions were pretty decent so my husband was able to eat with me. I was here for another 48 hours or so, and let me tell you, there was no shortage of nurses. Nurses came in at all hours to check on my vitals, my IV drip, my pain level, my supplies, my baby’s vitals, my baby’s supplies, etc. They showed me how to care for my body after my natural delivery and were genuinely concerned about how I was progressing. One of the lactation nurses (I can’t remember her name :-() topped by a few times to give me tips and make sure that everything was going well with the nursing. Unfortunately, I could not remember any of the nurses’ names (went through like 4 or 5 shift changes) except for Bucket and Kim, who were great. Maybe there was a Kristen and a Jackie too? If I got their names right, they both were really great as well. :-)
This ended up being super long, so to sum it all up, I had wonderful experience delivering my baby here at Huntington Memorial. Thank you, thank you to everyone involved!

I had the best experience here. Brought in after passing out with a stomach bug, the docs took great care of me. The following day I was released and they called me to follow up on my situation. Great service! Thank you!

I’ve been here for 9 days. In these 9 days I’ve spent most of my time in the high risk ward where I saw many different nurses. These women have made my stay here such a positive experience. Some of the names I remember were Terri, Lynn, June, Cheryl, Jennifer, and I can’t remember the rest. These women work in high risk and maternity. I am so thankful to them for really trying to make me comfortable at one of the toughest weeks of my life. In a nutshell my body was trying to deliver my baby 3 months early while Dr’s kept trying to stop it. But mother nature has a way of saying «forget your plans» and I ended up delivering my baby early anyway.
This is where I feel the support of the staff really stood out for me. After I moved out of high risk and into maternity these women came looking for me to see if I was ok and to see how my baby was. Wow. They even shared stories with me about other preemie babies and listened me to cry and let me vent when I needed to. I have a whole new respect for nurses because not only did they physically take care of me but also emotionally and mentally helped me get through this trying time.
I am thankful to my Dr, Dr Steven Hartford for sending me here because this place is great for neonatal care.
Dr Raab, and the Nurses in NICU like Karen, Zohar, Arrianne, and Susan are very informative and usually always available for me when I have questions and even when I don’t about how my baby is doing. I like that they are mostly always around when I come see baby to fill me in on how his day was. All in all the staff here has really wowed me. And I thank you guys for making this huge event in my life much easier for me to get through.

I checked in Monday morning and left around 7pm that same day and it was hands down the best experience at a hospital ever for me…
First off, let me send a special thanks to both RN’s Christine and Natalie, these women were absolutely incredible and made me feel very comfortable. These two don’t show up to work to simply get a check, they actually care about the patients they encounter and it shows. Again, from the bottom of my heart thank you both Christine & Natalie, I wish there were more people like the two of you out there.
Dr. Martin and Dr. Nazarian were extremely helpful and I’m feeling stronger with every day that goes by, it could just be the antibiotics or that mental blue pill but I think it’s somewhere in between lol! Either way it’s up to me to follow through and I’ll definitely be doing just that.
My experience at Huntington Memorial was grade A+
PS When I give out 5 stars I usually mention that I’ll be coming back however with my health improving I seriously doubt that will be the case, thank you all at HMH and God Bless.

Here for my mom’s arm surgery today. It’s a very clean, modern, upscale hospital. The waiting room is spacious and offers free coffee and water. There are magazines and televisions to try and beat the boredom. My only issue is that they wanted my mom here at 10am. She doesn’t even enter the surgery center till 12 so we are just stuck waiting here for 2 hours for no good reason. Oh well. All in all, nice hospital though. Rather be waiting here than somewhere else I suppose.

I started off wanting to give HMH a single star review. However after deeper contemplation I was reminded of orientation day, the atmosphere, the doctors and nurses who made it a warm welcoming experience and decided based on the merit of those «few» Huntington Memorial deserved 2 additional stars for the effort of those people.
Tips for having your child at Huntington Hospital:
1. Burn your birth plan, you wont need it these doctors and nurses are well trained to sell you or scare you into more invasive procedures. Not because it’s needed, but because they can bill for it. It’s a affair between the insurance companies and physicians you’re just the lube that makes it all possible. If you don’t use there stuff they can’t bill you, so they have to invent ways to convince you to or direct you to do want they need you to do. What about what you need?
2. If you do Hypno-​birthing or use suggestive reasoning to cope with and contractions expect to hear fear mongering terms like: «your baby could die, it’s rare but it could die»
” If you don’t progress we have to C– $ection.”
& my personal favorite «Do you want drugs?»
3.Do not mention vaginal birth there. If you plan on having a natural birth with minimal invasion, think again. The minute you try to stick to the birth plan (you forgot to burn in step one) the treatment goes from warm to cold like you forgot to pay the gas bill.
4. Bring a journal to maternity with you to document how many times your baby gets blood taken, heel pricks, blood preasure checks, our baby was stabbed over a dozen times in 4 days. Also document how many of your requests have to be repeated. We averaged between 4 – 6 ingnored requests per day. That’s 12 – 24 times you are not important enough to remember in a standard visit
5. Don’t know or try to excersise your patient rights, especially the one that says you can refuse any treatment you are not comfortable recieving. That’s when they retaliate against your recovering wife and newborn child. More tests, more blood. Every baby has jaundice at this point, now more tests more reason to bill your insurance.
They didn’t build this place so fancy by taking care of people, they built it by taking care of business. Huntington Hospital ignoring your needs so they can build a Starbucks inside.
You are a consumer to them and when you don’t want to buy their junk or don’t agree with their methods they treat you like cattle.
This is not a natural birth friendly hospital even though they sell you on the idea from the beginning.
The security for maternity is a joke. Anyone can get in and out. No guard posted, no camera at the door. Just a phone anyone gets buzzed in. Most people wait until someone comes out and slip right in uncontested.
The rooms are only nice if you have good insurance the families with the affordable care act insurance get the room with the broken t.v. remote, prison matress and phone that can’t call your nurse. If this room was a horse you’d shoot it out of mercy.
On the lighter side of things, the cafeteria is disorganized but the food is decent enough, vending machines don’t take $ 5’s and nobody makes change for you. Starbucks inside is more of a con than a pro. Juicebar would be better suited for a healthcare establishment don’t you think? The women in the giftshop are rude and too old to be that ugly to people. The gifts are tacky and overpriced like a Vegas giftshop only less class who buys the F.A.O. Schwartz lifesize baby girraffe for a newborn anyway? That thing has been there for 5 years.
Old ladies are suppose to be nice right? I mean it was like MacBeth in there, and what gift shop closes at 4:00? If you’re closed why is the door open? Isn’t it suppose to be 9 – 5? Maybe they have to get back to their Gingerbread houses before 5:00, fat German kids take long to cook I suppose.
As a matter of fact because of the poor condition, work ethic and customer service of the gift shop staff I pulling one star. This is now a 2 star review.
Sorry to those kind few doctors and nurses who worked so hard to make our experience a good one, in our hearts you’re 5 stars thank you.

This was the hospital where my wife and I chose for maternity. This was also the same hospital I was born at 30 years ago. Definitely has gone upscale since and the renovations they made make this hospital one of the best especially for maternity. Their labor room is very nice. Makes you feel comfortable and relaxed during childbirth. Not just that but their friendly staff/​nurses makes it even better. There’s not one nurse that didn’t help us when we needed it.
Then there’s the hospital room for all new mothers to stay overnight. I hear other hospitals that don’t even have another bed for the father/​significant other. These rooms here actually have a folding cot and a long chair as well which makes the stay even more pleasant for both mothers/​fathers/​significant other. The nurses are caring here and always get to you as soon as you need help. Though food is only free for the mothers, you can order plenty for the husband as the portions are good. What a great experience it was here!

I can’t say this was an amazing experience, but I’m going to make the assumption that most ER visits are never much fun to begin with.
I came here because of a severe pain in my ankle and was referred here to by a local urgent care.
I couldn’t walk on my left foot, but they didn’t have any wheelchairs for me either. I had to hop back and forth from the waiting room to inside the ER multiple times… which really just aggravated my injury.
On the plus side, the staff was friendly, which helped a bit. The staff is busy as hell, so there is a MASSIVE wait time between each visit. I think for me to get asked a few questions, get xrays, get an ultrasound, then finally get crutches and a boot cost me about 5 hours of my time.
They also did not fix my foot and I had to do follow ups with other doctors just to pinpoint the problem. This isn’t a problem, but holy cow, my medical bills sure are piling up fast…
Plus parking is NOT free. It’s $ 6 max, but still a bummer to have to pay each time I come here. :(

I’ve had enough experiences here that I can honestly review it. From my first time ever at the Huntington years ago for a broken wrist from roller derby to my most recent visit when our baby hit his head, I have nothing but praise for this ER and hospital.
ER and PICU. 5 Stars.
Our most recent experience is without a doubt the worst experience of our lives, but not because of the hospital. When our baby knocked his head, we rushed to the ER and were seen immediately.
ER staff instantly got to work. My husband and I, VERY new parents, were quite clearly terrified. Everyone kept reassuring us everything would be alright. The doctor on staff, whose name I don’t remember, but it began with a U… He had luxurious hair… Dr. U… was wonderful. He assured us we were great parents, these things happen, etc. He read us the results of the CT scan within 10 minutes of his scan. Luckily, the neurosurgeon read the CT scans and deemed himself as not needed, and sent our baby up to the PICU for monitoring.
For the two full days and one full night that we were there, we were taken care of by Elena, Farron, Rosie, and Lucy in the PICU. I believe their true colors showed as a staff and as a hospital in those moments with the three of us. They tended to our son as their own as well as supported us emotionally. Elena was great to talk to and very reassuring. Rosie was a sweetheart who allowed my husband and I to actually get some sleep for the first time in over 24 hours while she kept watch during the night shift. Amy, from social services, checked in with us each day to make sure we were holding up alright. Even while grabbing lunch in the cafeteria, we were stopped by one of the transport guys to ask us how our little baby was doing. Most of the staff in the PICU have been working together for over 20 years — they really operate like a close knit family, and by making us feel included in that in what was truly a time of need for us, made all of the difference in our experience.
I kind of want to have a BBQ and invite them all over.
Story 2, Labor and Delivery. 4 Stars. Minus 1 for Lactation Consultants. (Details ahead!)
We had a scheduled C-​Section at the Huntington. I had met some of the staff in L&D already, as I had been by in the weeks leading up for Non-​Stress Tests, High Blood Pressure tests, etc. All dolls. I was never nervous until the two days leading up to the surgery. I’ve never had surgery before, I’ve never had anesthesia before… I was freaking out a little bit.
As soon as we entered L&D at 3pm, I was immediately calmed. My nurses talked to me about how I was feeling, and they urged me to just take things one step at a time instead of focusing on the big, terrifying picture. It worked. Everything was abuzz with getting me prepared for surgery, and things went quickly. The most painful thing I experienced was the IV being placed into my arm. Not even the shot into my SPINE hurt.
I got the shot in my back at 5:41, and at 6:07, my son was born. Let me tell you guys something — hearing your baby cry for the first time, in real life, is the coolest experience ever. When the baby is on lockdown in your belly for 40 weeks, it kind of doesn’t feel real, but hearing that cry changes everything. I just could’t stop laughing, I was so happy. My doctor, Dr. Eleanor Leung, quickly put me back together, and had me carted off to recovery.
The nursing staff over the course of the next 4 days were incredible. If you are unfamiliar with what goes on with mom’s body after a C-​Section, I suggest you google it, then give these nurses awards! The things they see… Yikes. But they kept me clean and comfortable, helped me with things like standing up for the first time after surgery, and peeing for the first time. Not glamorous work!
I do want to take a second to address the Lactation Department, since I see that the hospital does read these reviews.
The communication with the lactation department was abysmal. No one came to see me or talk to me. We had to Google how to use the breast pump. I wanted to nurse my baby — it was in our birth plan. We were struggling getting him to eat, and no one helped! We requested someone to come by several times — the first two times, no one came. The nurses ended up helping me the best they could. The day before we left, we were told we would be seen around 12 and to not feed him. Some time around 1:30, my husband and I decided to feed our furious baby. No one came until 6. We didn’t get an update on the delay, they just showed up 6 hours late. When they finally came, they instantly put me on a nipple shield, so he never wanted my nipple direct after that. He’s now bottle only. Boo.
The next day, release day, same thing. We made a request to see someone, and we were told to not feed him around 11. Again, no one came until 3pm. I left the hospital with little information on breastfeeding. We ended up having to hire lactation consultants to come to our house.

I brought my daughter in because she had a very bad earache. She was seen within 45 minutes.
Once we were in the room we were greeted by a nurse who immediately checked her ears. The nurse said she had «wax build up» in both her ears and he would notify the doctor to see what they would do. Whether she needed an ear lavage or something else.
The doctor came in 30 minutes after and performed a lung check. He asked if her immunization were up to date and if she had been swimming. To which we notified that we had been to a water park the day before. After checking both of her ears, he told us we had to see our primary care physician because she had a wax plug that made it hard to see. He gave her a prescription for amoxicillin and asked us to take her to her primary care physician so she could refer us to a ear nose and throat doctor.
I would expect that because it was an emergency room they could treat anything! Instead I was sent home with medication for something they thought was a middle ear infection. Which I was not convinced of.
When I got home, my daughter kept complaining about her ears. I took a flash light and a pair of tweezers and to my surprise, she had a piece of cotton in both ears!!!
Yes, I know it’s my fault for not supervising my 6 year old when she’s cleaning her ears, but isn’t the emergency room there for emergencies?
It wasn’t a wax plug. It was a piece of cotton that they should have removed immediately but instead I was sent home with an inaccurate diagnosis.

I had a five hour wait …, I was suffering from a very severe headache in the frontal lobe due to a car accident the previous day., Friends and family were suggesting I go get checked out just in case there was any brain swelling.
When I finally did get into a room the nurse a male nurse shot me up through an IV with Benadryl and then Reglan I was then sent to get a CAT scan which showed no swelling in my brain.
The reason that I’m writing this review is because I was rushed out of the hospital by a female nurse I think she should’ve noticed how drowsy I was and paid attention to the time frame in that I was medicated and highly sedated yet she rushed me out of the hospital she kept saying «FELICIA are you ready yet?»
I was in a complete foggy daze and I drove home like that !!! I fell asleep three times in my car on the way home it was the most dangerous thing I’ve been through in a while and if something would’ve happened to me I believe it would’ve been the hospital’s responsibility/​liability.
The practice of medicating a patient and then sending them on their way is a recipe for disaster

The ER offers third world care behind mask of seemingly civilized infrastructure. The pca admin clerks at the front entrance were rude, arrogant and 1 step removed from the worst of dmv clerks. My wife came in w profuse bleeding. the attending zombie nurse took her bp without asking any basic follow up questions (such as r u in pain?!) and with utter indifference, told her to go sit and wait. And wait we did! 6 hours and counting! When we asked for an update after the 4^th hour, we were greeted w cold stares and even colder responses.
When our accompany doctor friend who works at usc tried to exercise some professional curtesy n questioned why there appeared to be disproportion of lack of activity to patient count, she was told «there were technical factors that were beyond your field of vision».
She was also appalled by how Huntington would make a primary physician referred patient with this degree of deep bleeding to wait over 6 hours w total neglect.
As I sit here passing our 6^th hour and being told by a stone faced mortician pca again that there’s no estimate and that a RESIDENT will see us as soon as s/​he is available, i tried to remind her for the 4 th time that my wife’s bleeding has yet to stop but was told there’s nothing they can do. Again not event a quick chck up from a nurse.
They just took her vitals and her temperature is 36.4. I asked the if they can provide a blanket but was told by front desk that it’s against Huntington hospital policy to provide blankets to patients in the waiting room.
To add salt to injury some tech waited over 6 hrs to gave her a cup for urine sample.
I’ve been to various er over the past 6 years caring for my parents, this is by far the worst er I visited to date.
While the wait time is byproduct of our failing healthcare system and seemingly universal across the board, the utter neglect and unprofessionalism of Huntington er staff is inexcusable.
I will most certainly file a complain to Huntington for their horrific treatment of their er patients. Though my voice will no doubt be ignored, I hope those who had suffered similar inhumane treatment will follow suite and speak their minds.

So this was my second ankle surgery to repair the ligaments and tendons — I have two pins in my ankle. I would go back to Huntington in a heartbeat. Everything went so smoothly, it was pretty incredible. My first contact was with a woman that literally LOVED her job. How many people can say that?! She was also the one that handled my insurance while I filled out my paperwork. Since I had 100% military medical coverage (United Healthcare) at the time, I didn’t have any of the problems that the other reviewers are talking about regarding insurance. She was very familiar with TriCare, she herself had quite a few family and friends in the military. She provided EXCELLENT customer service, seriously. And she was so friendly.
I see the service given by the hospital staff and insurance coverage as two completely separate things, since, well, they are… The hospital and doctors don’t get reimbursed fully either (say my doctor friends) But I can definitely understand the frustration of dealing with insurance companies, so I’m currently paying out of pocket. CRAZY, RIGHT?!! But that’s my issue/​complaint with insurance, not Huntington Memorial.
My first ankle surgery was at an outpatient clinic (a very nice one in Northern California), but I literally threw up on myself because I was so scared — you can’t eat before surgery, so yup, two drops of bile — ick! That surgery went badly and it took me a very long time to heal, like almost nine months. It also didn’t repair what it was supposed to, so my ankle kept giving out still. It was so painful and frustrating!
This time when I heard that I needed surgery to repair a torn ligament (once you sprain your ankle, it always stays weaker since you stretch out the tendons and ligaments and they aren’t elastic), I completely freaked out, as you can probably imagine…
At first, I was supposed to be operated on in an outpatient clinic, but was changed to Huntington Memorial because of scheduling. I AM SOOOOO HAPPY THIS HAPPENED!!!
I received a clear and easy to understand letter telling me where I should show up, check in, valet (I didn’t drive, obviously), so the day of the surgery, I already knew exactly where I was supposed to go and along the way, I confirmed with a few staff members (since I was so scared, I couldn’t «focus») and everyone was super nice.
When I got into the hospital bed, the attending nurse was super nice. I didn’t have to wait long at all. My mom then started asking a bunch of questions that were not important at the time since I was starting to get wheeled to the OR… the questions my mom were asking all pertaining to after the surgery and parking — really?! That’s not the nurse’s job! I guess surgery makes everyone crazy.
Oh, another benefit of going to Huntington vs the outpatient clinic — I had to walk to the OR at the outpatient clinic. I thought I was a dead «man» walking… DUDE — IT WAS TOTALLY SCARY!!! And that’s when I barfed on myself… while walking to the OR…
At Huntington, I had had told the nurse what happened during my first surgery and how scared I was, and she was super accommodating, very nice and extremely reassuring.
As I was in the OR, I had a conversation with the staff while they were anesthetizing me — of course I was talking about my barfing story… They told me everything was going to be okay and that I won’t even remember the conversation… but I actually did.
The next thing I knew, I woke up and everything was finished. My calf was still numb, but my foot was starting to tingle. They held me for 45 minutes longer since I had to received another pain shot. I think that was totally worth it… LOL The 45 minutes was from when I had the pain shot, to make sure there was no reaction.
I like this place! A lot! Sadly, I’ve been to a lot of hospitals and have not had very many good experiences like this.

If you really want to die in an Emergency Room then this is the place to go. I went there, by ambulance with my son who was having seizures. They wheeled us into the waiting room where we sat for 2 hours. When we were finally called the Dr didn’t look in his throat or ears. She just looked at his temperature and said to give him Motrin and to go home.
This Hospital should not have an Emergency Room.
By the way I am now waiting for Stacy, who is in charge of complaints, to push the copy and paste buttons on her computer and give me the same stupid answer she gives to everyone who complains
