Description

Specialties

Professional Child Development Associates is a non-profit organization that offers a range of multidisciplinary screening, evaluation, therapy, and specialized services for children, birth through 21 years of age, and their families, when there are any concerns or problems in development, behavior, or social relationships at home, school, or in the community. Our specialists can help parents who may have questions about a child’s development or behavior, and provide different kinds of services to help children, parents, siblings, and other caregivers or extended family. PCDA also offers education and training for professionals, on-site services, and professional consultation for other agencies, addressing special needs, general child development, and behavior.

History

Established in 1997.

Diane Cullinane, M.D., a board-certified developmental pediatrician, and Mimi Winner, R.N., M.S., a child development specialist, set up a multi-disciplinary agency in 1997 to provide services for children with developmental challenges. They created PCDA to address a critical need for services that linked families to every aspect of a child’s treatment. In 2008, after 12 years as a successful fee-based service provider, PCDA was reincorporated as a 501©(3) organization. This change in organizational structure allowed the agency to reach a broader population and to more fully integrate with local communities.

Currently, PCDA serves more than 1,000 children living with developmental challenges who have, or are at risk for, behavior and developmental challenges, intellectual challenges, genetic conditions, learning challenges, complex medical conditions affecting feeding, eating, sensory processing or cognition through a comprehensive continuum of services.
