I read the other reviews complaining about the cost and bad service — my experience was just the opposite. The waitress staff was very friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. The price for the two of us for breakfast and coffee was about $ 15 a piece. The food was good and arrived hot to the table; what else do you want it to do.

Bottom line if you’re looking for a good burger and great service do down the street to McNears. Ordered take out, server was rude. She made me feel like I was bothering her because she was too busy chatting it up with the dude sitting at the bar. No hi. No smile. More like«quit interrupting me». Fries were cold. And burgers were wayyyyy overcooked. I’ve had better burgers for 12 bucks. To add to that I felt sick to my stomach after eating the burger and ended up throwing up.

Deliscious food, excellent service with a smile, great prices, 5 stars. I had the grilled Chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread. It was outstanding. It came topped with roasted red peppers, avacado, cheese, tomato, and I added bacon. The bacon was superb! The whole sandwich was awesome. I like to dip my sandwiches, so I ordered a side of ranch dressing. I was very impressed with this restaurant. My film partner had the fish tacos and was also very pleased with his order. I’ll be back again and again.

We were so excited to try this place considering the high quality of the former owners’ other eating establishments. Sadly, the quality of the ingredients was so poor that our food actually grossed us out.

Terrible service and awful for kids. Some weird white guy seemed to be running the place and saw fit to leave his back pack and wallet on the counter like a teenager home from school. Customers seemed to be upset which kept running out to deal with while my kid fell asleep hungry after saint 45 minutes for his dinner.

With great disappointment I write this review — we have been semi-regular customers since it opened. It was my daughters favorite place, close to the movies But, as time has moved on the service and quality of food has become so low –fast food is a better choice. I noticed the decline more than my family but recent exoeriencs has taken blu off our list. So, let me ask if you order an 11 dollar chopped salad would you assume it would be chopped –ok looking past that would you expect to remove the stems from your spinach. Not too much to ask. Yesterday y daughter went there with her friends and they were out of french fries… ha ha. The place was really good but there seems to be a lack of energy. Hope them the best but I am done.

Okay, I’ve been here about half a dozen times, all separated by long gaps in time. Each time I leave, I remember why It had been so long in between. First, the food. It is just average. Burgers are okay, fish n chips are very heavily breaded and flavorless. Blue cheese fries and Cobb salad are about the only things I can recommend on their menu. Second, the service– and the real reason I will not return. I agree with the other Unilocalers– the staff makes you feel like it is a burden to wait on you. There is a dark haired male that seems to be there each time I have gone. I assume he is the owner. He literally makes me feel«bad» for coming, as though I’m bothering him. Even though the place has been next to empty each time I’ve been there, he always seems to be working on something else, and the whole«restaurant thing» is getting in his way. We did have a very sweet female server who was extremely attentive, and seemed embarrassed by the behavior of the male. Promote her, she knows how to treat customers. Last– the price. For three entrée, no drinks or dessert, it was well over $ 60. It’s too bad, because being across from the theater, its a perfect location for an after or before movie, casual meal. I don’t know how they have managed to stay open this long.

I saw so many bad reviews on this place but no one talked about the food. Really a great burger. Good prices for grass fed beef and great portion size as well. You get three options for fries regular, garlic, and sweet potato. I had the regular and tasted the garlic both are good. Customer service was fine Tuesday they have burger discount so it would be good to go and try this place, if you are sceptical.

While I’ve ordered their burgers through Petaluma Food Taxi, I hadn’t actually visited until last night and I learned — don’t order anything but the burgers. I got the lemon-crusted chicken which came to me with a not-so-crusty crust and drowning in a too-tart lemon cream sauce. It was way overpowering and even after scraping some of the sauce off, I felt almost ill later after eating it. Add in that the waitress was a bit airheaded — she brought us our check before we even got our entrees and even kept looking over expecting us to have paid and approached the table to find out if we were ready for her to take it only for us to tell her we hadn’t even eaten yet — and it added up to a lackluster experience. I think if they get my business again it’ll just be through ordering burgers for delivery.

The place resembles an old school diner meets modern day, with it’s metal ceiling and stainless steel tabletops and has a laid-back, casual feel. My boyfriend and I were hungry and needed a quick lunch before heading to tour Lagunitas. The service was great(by the owner himself!) and really enjoyed our lunch, as well. The first thing that caught my eye was the Blu Cheesy Fries… um, yes please! We got one of those to start and it was really delicious. The saltiness of the fries brings out the tanginess of the blue cheese and then is enhanced by the blanket of mozzarella on top! I couldn’t get enough of them! For the entrée, I chose the Grilled Chicken Wrap($ 9) in a Spinach Tortilla, for something lighter and filling at the same time. It’s packed with roasted red pepper, blu cheese crumbles, sliced avocado, romaine lettuce, and tomatoes, dressed with aioli, and wrapped up nice and tight. Perfect size for lunch.(Just a side note: If you’re not a huge fan of aioli, I’d ask for it on the side because it does come with a generous portion.) My boyfriend got ordered the Blu Cheese Burger. Made with organic and grass-fed beef that’s ground each day, the patty is paired with sweet caramelized red onions, crumbly blue cheese, and a thick slice of tomato. Throw it between a bun and you’ll be in for a treat! Cheers!

Since its right across the street from the theatre, if you’re going to a movie in downtown Petaluma, this should be the perfect place to kill some time, have a drink and maybe a bite before the show. Its not. We’ve tried it twice, and both times the place was almost empty. This should be a good thing for us, right? Sadly, it was clear that we weren’t wanted there. Why, I don’t know. We’re clean, quiet, middle-aged folks trying to buy stuff. They might have been getting ready for dinner service, it was fairly early both times? But since we just had drinks, we shouldn’t have felt like we were intruding. Sunnier personalities in front of house would be helpful, I suspect they’re losing a lot of potential customers. Well we tried, so now its back to McNear’s each week, which is fine with us — they’re happy to take our money.

I had such high hopes for this place. I love the ambience. Everything else was on the lame side. I’ve been here for both breakfast and dinner. I had the eggs benedict for breakfast. It was no bueno. The eggs were overcooked, hollandaise sauce was grainy, and the english muffin was really tough. My friend had pancakes and only ate 3 bites. When I went for dinner I ordered the turkey burger. It was just ok. I can’t say much about the service. The waiters were polite but not so attentive. This place will do if you’re hungry and order something that’s really hard to mess up. Otherwise walk a couple blocks and you’ll find tastier places.

The lowest of lows!!! I think I might look to fast food for better service. I have never felt like my requests were this much of a burden when at a restaurant. The food was FINE, but I have to wonder if the wait staff is related to the owner. Why else would a business owner employ someone who is so obviously detrimental to their business? I’M NEVERCOMINGBACK! Fire your wait staff! I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who would be happy to have a job. My wife works a block away, and she often goes to lunch with her work friends. They all REFUSE to go to Blu. Do your self a favor, and go anywhere else! A vending machine has better service! It says thank you after taking your money, you get what you order, and its all attitude free…

I wish I could give a better review for this downtown haunt, but it just isn’t so. It is almost shameful how lazy and rude our server was. We went in with a group of us for breakfast and were promptly given a pitcher to fill our own water glasses. Oh, I’m sorry are we disturbing you from helping the other 3 people in the restaurant by actually doing your job?! My bad… I kept it light with oatmeal. It was fine enough. It included fresh fruit and candied walnuts. A fairly small portion for $ 7 though, just sayin. There were mistakes on other orders at our table and no apparent rush to fix the problem. We recieved attitude from the wait staff the entire time. Bottom line, not so much and not again. I didn’t walk in or leave with any warm fuzzies telling me to come again.

I have to say that on a very recent visit, the food was back up to the level of original visits. We have the crispy pounded chicken and chicken pie. Both were wonderful. Milkshakes were good and served nicely, and large, although they were a bit on the sweet side, even though such things often tend to be quite sweet. Service, though, was very slow, almost preventing me from giving a new 4-star rating to replace my prior 3-stars. However, the food was really good and very satisfying. This place, though keeps teetering between 3 and 4 for me, depending on the food, because service has just not been very good in recent years.

I had that huevos rancheros, which were fine. The review goes to the terrible waitress who responded when I asked if she could make a decaf latte, «we’re not a coffee shop, Peet’s is around the corner.» After a smattering of other rude comments, I’m totally done with this place. I don’t care how good your food is(which it wasn’t) you can’t treat patrons like that. I served in a restaurant for a long time, I would NEVER talk to customers that way. I find it interesting too. Petaluma is a small town. Everyone knows everyone. Comments like those don’t go unnoticed or disregarded.

Walked in for breakfast on a Sunday morning with a group of 6. Not even a ‘hi’ from the server(maybe owner?)…We were greeted with ‘I can’t help you, there isn’t room’ as he walked quickly toward us, waving his hands as if to shoo us out of the restaurant. I was blown away. We would have been happy to wait for table space, or even to split our group to 2 tables. We were never given either of those options. I am well aware of the popularity of Petaluma as a breakfast destination, and expect a crowd anytime between 8am and 11am on a weekend. My group was family visiting from out of town. I was embarrassed that I had actually been the one to recommended that we go here. Two of our guests were preparing to, and have since, moved to Petaluma. When we meet for breakfast, we now exercise our other options in town. There are not many places I will refuse to revisit, but I will absolutely not support a business who treats their customers this way. I actually really liked this place before that. The service had always been, not great, but okay. The food was always pretty good, but not good enough to go back after this experience. Petaluma has so many other amazing breakfast options… I will not waste my time at Blu again.

Still one star for me. One Unilocaler said those bad reviews(now 58 in the one and two star category) were written by «other business owners» to make Blu«look bad». There were some 5 star ratings, but these are not honest and probably planted. The one and two star ratings are more representative of Blu. Blu’s management should react to the brutal reviews and take heed to correct the reasons people shy away from Blu. I myself would, if downtown, «go anywhere but Blu».
