Horrible. Like literally the worst chinese I’ve had in years. Flavorless, not fresh and they CHARGE for rice? Ya that lost you another star. City Chopsticks blows them away!

Lunch special is excellent. They start you with soup and tea. Tea was the best I’ve ever had at a Chinese restaurant and the soup was great. I ordered the sweet and sour pork which was excellent too. All for like $ 8.50. Some complain about the service, but I prefer their service. If I’m choosing Chinese food for lunch despite all the other options nearby, I’m starving and I don’t want the small talk. Food comes out quick, I don’t need a smile with it.

So, I don’t Unilocal… but this was atrocious! Picked up our order and drove home to find we are missing a dish. Checked the receipt and all the containers and yup, no Hunan chicken. And no brown rice. So I called to let them know. Someone who identified herself as Jenny told me that she took the order and packed it herself, so there absolutely Could Not be a mistake! She then continued to argue and berate me for several minutes, insisting that I was wrong, and could not have a credit because I had paid with cash! I finally hung up mid scolding. AND, the food was meh! Possibly flavored by the experience, but no, it really was not good food! So long Jenny Lows! I’ll order from across town, where they serve with a smile and deliver for free!

First time here. We ordered Mu Shu Pork, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, and fried rice. All were very good! My favorite though, was the tea. It was naturally sweet, and tasted very good! Our waitress even gave us some to go! The servers were very attentive and the food was flavorful and fresh. I really wish we lived closer so we could frequent this place more often. If we are ever in town again, we will definitely be back!!!

I have been here several times and enjoyed it in the past, but i was a little disappointed with last nights visit. The service was slow and the waiter wasn’t very good at communicating with us. They kept bringing one thing every five minutes which we thought was kind of annoying. Also kept taking food away we weren’t done with yet, we had to move our plate to the center so they’d stop. Another reason i took away a star is because i found an insect in my cashew chicken. II would have given four stars because the food is so good and i loved the won ton soup. Hopefully next time the service is better and we’ll try not going on a Saturday. It wasn’t even that crowded surprisingly.

It’s just good Chinese food! Good enough that we keep coming back. Usually for take out(not crazy about the open cafeteria feel). I can’t really say there’s anything mind blowing, but it’s definitely solid.

We like Jennie Low’s a lot. They treat you like family when they get to know you, wonderful people. The Chinese food is about as good as you can get north of SF, quite good, but of course there are better in the city. Everything is fresh and clean, wonderful service. We probably go there 5 times a month.

Made a reservation at another place, they sat us at a table with other patrons in a packed place. Walked out of there, and took a walk around, found this place. Had our own booth, and the food was great! Service was great!

My friend and I went to eat at this restaurant and our waitress didn’t want my friends change which is all she had. So she didn’t leave a tip and our waitress stopped her at the door and actually asked her for money. My friend said she only had change and the waitress kept asking for bills. When my friend said she didn’t have any the waitress said that they would remember for next time. Not sure what she meant by that but I’ve never had customer service like that, it was so rude. As for the food it was okay not great. But I don’t plan on going back.

I’ve wanted to try this restaurant for quite a while, as I’ve heard so much about it. I was not pleased with our food. The Wah Wonton soup was very salty. We told the server(owner?), and she even agreed that maybe the chicken broth needed to be diluted more. We also had Chicken show mien, and it was lots of noodles, and a small amount of chicken. And this was a bit too salty also. Don’t restaurants get it, that salt does not have to be on food for any length of time for the flavor to come out. It’s so much better to let people add salt at the table if they want to. The Asparagus with Beef in black bean sauce was very tasty! I was not impressed with the waiters, as they never said anything ~ Whatever… it was almost closing time, and they seemed very tired. I don’t know if I will go back or not. I’ve got my favorite Chinese food in Santa Rosa ~ Gary Chu’s. No place like it!

This was the worst experience of my life! The husband and wife owners clearly hate their lives given there rude attitudes and flopping of food to the table. Finally the food! NOPE! We were server plates of inedible garbage. Flat previously frozen prawns, chicken salad missing the chicken, goopie vegetables that smelt horrible, fried rice that I think spent the whole day in the fryer, and some soup that was so gross I had to set on another empty table. If I could give no stars I would. Feared for my life! Never again!

This is a solid Chinese restaurant. I know there are other good ones, but I like that there is a light creations section of the menu — you can have any of these dishes cooked in chicken broth instead of oil. I really like the bean curd with vegetables dish. It is a delicious soft tofu dish with a mildly spicy sauce with peas, carrots, snow peas, zucchini, and bean sprouts. This is a convenient location across from the movie theater.

No longer a 3 star experience, i.e. not good, not bad, just so-so. Now just 2 stars, and that is a bad sign for a restaurant that should be a great one. Tonight was the«seafood» noodle dish, with just a suggestion of seafood and lots and lots of noodles. I think the seafood swam through and then jumped out on the other side. Unfortunately the remaining noodles were quite bland and without too much flavor, so it was a chore to wade through it as there was not a lot of seafood. I do wish Jennie Low would step up their game. I love their downtown location, the people are nice enough, and it has the appearances of a really good place to eat, but what they are offering is blah food. The service is a little cold and distant, like we are doing them a favor by selecting to eat here. I don’t think I will return here, but seek out a Chinese restaurant with a little more interesting food and a warmer atmosphere. I don’t want to return and have the same complaints. I looked at a lot of the reviews, especially ones less than 5 and 4 and fully understand the basis of there complaints. There are certainly a number of great choices in Petaluma, and ones that have a chance at a four or five star rating in my eyes. Sorry bout that!

I really wanted to love this restaurant and that is why I visited a few times before writing a review to make sure my experience was consistent. The food quality at Jennie Low’s is very good, in fact it is the only reason me and my husband kept coming back! They don’t use MSG which is very nice and they offer brown rice for health nuts. Portions are decent and the restaurant is clean. The vegetables are kind of gooey but overall the food is decent at 4⁄5 stars – so you might ask why the 1 star review? The service is poor. All three times the service has been substandard for a sit down restaurant. You would think by looking around at the empty restaurant(which was empty every time we arrived at peak lunch hour, that they could learn some manners). The first few visits we were told to sit down and tea was brought out quickly but that is where the hospitality stopped. The man who works there does not say hello, doesn’t ask how the meal is, and grabs food off the table without asking if it is finished. My bowl of soup was completely full and he reached across the table and took it without even asking. My husband went in the back to find a restroom and the man asked«what do you want» to him, very rude. The lady at the desk is also not very friendly. They are only ‘selective friendly to certain customers” while others they don’t know or like they ignore. I suspect this is a husband and wife duo who run the place because it is always them there. Our first and second trip we left a 10% tip, I figured maybe they are just quiet and not understanding of hospitality, I mean they did bring out the food. But the third trip was the tipping point. We waited ten minutes for menus, and the lady lied at the end of the meal when my husband passionately said we will not be coming back again. When I confronted her about the poor service, she lied and said she did ask how our meal was(which she did not). I seriously don’t understand how this place stays open, if the owners are so bitter they should just close the place. I have a bachelors degree in Restaurant Hospitality management and I give this place a big FAIL. In this economy there are so many better places to spend $ 20 for lunch and receive a smile!

Loved this place! The owner is there most of the time and she’s a sweetheart. The Mango Chicken is to die for. Crab Puffs are amazing too! Highly recommended!

It’s gotten better since we tried this last. Our last meal at Lily Kai was not very good(3 of us were disappointed). It’s one of those up and down situations.

The only thing good here is the water. The rice taste like it was from the frozen section in Safeway and microwaved, and the chicken wasn’t any better. Definitely won’t come back unless i’m dragged here kicking and screaming by friends/family.

Laughable experience. After being pointed to my seat I was ignored. Then I annoyed my server when she had to stop eating her food to help me. I asked for more water and she told me she would refill it when it was empty. The place is empty too. Litteraly.

The Princess Chicken was impressive and the complimentary tea was soothing, add in the quick, friendly service and you’ll leave with a smile, feeling full not gross and greasy. Oh and you’ll have plenty of cash and time to see a movie or two across the street!
