I moved into a two bedroom unit on the second floor of a three story converted row home in south philly. The top floor unit hadn’t been rented yet. It was really nicely re-done and my boyfriend and I were thrilled to be living there! The first morning we woke up and the oven didn’t work– I also noticed there was no heat in the dryer. I called the landlord and he quickly responded and came to fix it. Then there were lots of little things I noticed, like paint in wrong places– messiness with a lot of stuff(places where paint was dripping and dried that way). THEN the boys upstairs moved in. This is when I realized how poorly insulated the building was– I guess they forgot that they needed to put something between the floors when re-doing the hardwoods. I could hear everything from cell phones vibrating/ringing to peeing to every single step they took. I was dreading spending the year there and then got a new job in a different state and moved. I found the new tenant, they paid their deposit, I moved out and they did a walk through with me. They told me I would be getting my full deposit back within 30 days. 6 weeks later, I’m still waiting. They sent me a check over a week ago that was for less than what they owed me and they said they would send the rest. I called today and they«forgot» so I asked him to overnight the check. Fingers crossed I get it so that I can wipe my hands clean of these people.
