Every room beautiful vistas of Pismo Beach, and the pier. Every room a view of sunset, sunrise, moon rise, and moon set. Huge rooms, nice staff. Stairway to the sand. Adult beverages next door. Easy parking. Well furnished. I would return often. Simply the best. Listen to the surf all night. Yummy

My family has been coming here for years. All rooms are ocean view. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy. Pool and jacuzzi. Close to town. Love it!!!

This hotel is phenomenal. BEST VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY IN PISMO BEACH! :) they have a great staff, great prices, free breakfast, all rooms are ocean view, and guests have free access to the Pismo Beach Athletic Club during their stay. They also have a restaurant called Steamer’s within walking distance of the hotel (literally in the same parking lot) that has a bar, so if you would like to do some drinking but do not want to really stray too far away from the hotel, this is a great option.
My best friend and I came during off season (January) and stayed two weekdays. It only cost us $ 116 AFTER tax per night! Also, they were offering a buy two nights get one free promotion that week, which is amazing! I HIGHLY recommend the Kon Tiki. It is a little outdated compared to other hotels in the area, but I would choose it over the competition any day! The only downsides to this hotel is that they do not have online booking (you have to call to book and hear their rates) and they do not allow pets, so sadly, you have to leave little Fido at home. However, don’t let that stop you. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did!

Had a lovely stay at the Kon Tiki. Great location on the cliff, with steps down to the beach. A lovely short walk along the beach will take you into Pismo Beach itself, where there are some great bars and restaurants to entertain you.
The hotel room, a standard double, was very spacious, with 2 beds and a balcony overlooking the beach and pool area.
The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The staff were very helpful and parking is free and plentiful.
Breakfast was a bit of a free for all, but again, free and plentiful.
Would definitely return, love the kitsch tiki décor!

Kon Tiki Inn is hands down the best place to stay in Pismo Beach. You can’t beat the view from all the rooms. The staff is wonderful. You can walk down to the beach and walk to the pier. Can’t wait to visit again.

I would give this hotel 6 stars if I could! Just got back from this hotel and must say I have never been happier. This place is better than any of the other «fancy» hotels on Price Street.
To start, the people taking reservations are wonderful. Downsize is that rooms book fast — up to six months in advance.
Our room was VERY clean, large, ocean view on the second floor. Wish I could have had the «Penthouse» but again it was booked six months in advance. There was also soooo much room in the room we stayed in. It had a king size bed AND a queen size bed! Closets were large, bathroom could accommodate two people, lots of drawers and soft beds.
Here’s another thing you don’t hear about too often… I had lost my gold loop earrings and called the hotel today. The cleaning staff had found them and turned them in! To boot, when the guy on the phone said he had them he asked that when he sent them back to me, if he wanted me to have them insure the package!
What service! What an experience! I will definitely return to this hotel.

The second stay we’ve done here it’s a keeper. Million dollar view of the pacific what can I say! The rooms are very clean and comfortable includes a fridge and reclining sofa. The spot in the right place near everything for walking or driving.

I am torn between, on the one hand, wanting to keep Kon Tiki Inn a secret, and, on the other, needing this wonderful gem to stay in business for the next time we are here because we absolutely love it!
The first thing we noticed pulling in to this beach-​front, motor inn style hotel were the nice, roomy, free parking spaces (see photo) — a little thing, but hugely appreciated. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and blissfully quiet. The patios/​balconies have a view of the pool, beach, ocean and, best of all, the sun setting over the ocean. The air conditioning is cold (though in the evenings, you will much prefer to open the patio door), the bed truly is heavenly, and the blackout drapes allow you to sleep as late as you need — we could not believe how well we slept! The water pressure in the shower is awesome, the 2 hot tubs overlooking the ocean (next to the heated pool) are so very welcome after a long day of driving, there is a small free breakfast each morning, the restaurant next door is very good, and you walk from the hotel down onto the beach and into the ocean.
It’s not fancy, you won’t find some of the extras (notepads, pens, lotions), you have to call them to reserve a room (can’t be done online), and they charge your card the day before you arrive (you are told this when you reserve your room), but you’ll appreciate how surprisingly low they are able to keep the rates, while focusing on the things that really matter.
We will definitely be back!

Can’t beat the view or the constant sound of the ocean waves. How peaceful and what we needed for our getaway. Saw a Unilocaler review mention asking for a 2^nd or 3^rd floor to leave the window cracked open all night. Relaxing.
Rooms are very clean. Ours had dresser, desk, table with two chairs, a very comfortable reclining love seat, king size bed, 40 inch flat screen tv and balcony with two chairs and a table. Overall a very comfortable room. Bathroom was on the small size but room does have a second sink outside the bathroom.
Other perks include safe in the room, parking spaces with ~3ft between them, pass to the health club across the parking lot and a staff that was very welcoming and accommodating.
Perfect vacation for us with long walks along the beautiful beach, walking distance to downtown/​pier and several decent restaurants. Weather was very pleasant (not the 108* heat we had last July in Paso Robles.) Easy drive to several wonderful wineries or San luis Obispo.

Giving this hotel a 5 star not because it’s new… It isn’t. It is an «old school» design with a view of the ocean from every room. It has dated décor, but if you look past that one detail, you’ll find a clean room, clean property, clean pool area and a very friendly and helpful staff. I was a very slight more money than the chain hotel off the water, but well worth it.
First, traveling with 2 small kids was a breeze. The ground level rooms open up to a grassy area where young and old can enjoy the view and the clean ocean breeze.
As a seasoned professional traveller, a good shower experience is a must. The bathroom is small, but a working good shower head and a clean tub that drains made the grade.
I recommend this place for a night or a few nights. It would be easy to get comfortable here!
The restaurant next door has awesome food which they will deliver to your room if you like (without an upcharge.)

Booked a second floor room so we could leave the sliding door open all night and hear the ocean. Perfect location for our family. Love to stay here again soon. Room 220 was great! Son and I want to come back to boogie board!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Comfortable, clean room (outdated but not bad) with rooms facing ocean view. We popped some champagne to watch the sunset on the balcony (very relaxing). The best part was the beach being mere steps away from the hotel (nice sand too!).
The free breakfast was nothing to write home about but it was free!
The restaurant next door (Steamers) was especially yummy and convenient. Other restaurants are within walking distance. We only drove to check out other nearby beaches.

For what they charge and what you get it should be a 6 star! I know there are those that will hate on the old décor and outdated comforters but nothing… and I mean NOTHING compares to the sublime sound of the ocean that you get from this place. I’ve stayed here and at several other places in Pismo but never have I experienced it’s equal.
Recommendation:
Stop by Trader Joes and pick up some wine and munchies, plan on watching the sunset from the balcony. If you are a planner like me, bring up some of the good stuff. Ask for the 2^nd or third floor and a room towards the south end of the building (better view of the sunset).
One of the other very nice and unique features is the way the hotel is built so that you don’t hear the parking lot or the freeway from inside of the room. Recently I was at the Best Western just north of the Kon Tiki and the noise was very noticeable!

We love the Kon Tiki! We stayed two nights on the third floor and it was lovely! When you step onto the balcony you get a gorgeous view of the ocean and the pier! Most comfortable bed out of all the hotels I’ve stayed in, very efficient house keeping, & the breakfast selection is really good. The staff is all friendly and you can’t beat the location! Kon Tiki is minutes from the shops and restaurants! We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the views we got to admire while in it. Also you get to enjoy the secluded beach by taking advantage of the stairway from the Kon Tiki down to the beach! Can’t wait to return

I wish I could give the kon tiki inn more than 5 stars but I also don’t want to give away how spectacular of a place it is. I found this place by doing an Internet search for our dream vacation to California and boy oh boy did it live up to the dream. We stayed for 3 nights and I was heart broken to leave. From the moment we got off the freeway (easy access) into the parking lot has been nothing but paradise. The guy that checked us in (do not remember his name) was very helpful and explained everything such as the breakfast hours and where it is served (separate building in lot) to the access you receive to the Pismo Beach athletic club in complete detail. We stayed on the 3^rd floor and as soon as we walked in could see and hear the soothing sounds of the ocean. Every room in the hotel has an ocean view and a nice balcony to sit and watch the Pacific Ocean. We loved being able to leave the door open with the screen and fall asleep to the sounds of the water. The room was very spacious and had two large counters and sinks. There is a coffee pot and mini refrigerator also. The TV is very large and much larger than I have experienced In a hotel. The bed was very comfortable and relaxing and the pillows were the best I have ever slept on. The breakfast service was exceptional and the woman working over there is a very charming woman and you can tell she loves her job. There are make your own waffle stations, assorted cereal, juices, coffee, toast, muffins and bagels and hard boiled eggs. (No breakfast meat but with everything else you do not really miss it) The pool was heated and also had two hot tubs. The ocean breeze was chilly so the hot tubs and heated pool were amazing! We met a couple that has been staying here for 20 years in the same room and has met the owner and says he is constantly updating and adding to the property. It’s beautiful inside and out! There are stairs that lead you right to the beach on the other side of the pool. I have read in other reviews where this seems a negative but they weren’t that bad. This has got to be the nicest place on Pismo beach. We will be back!

We kept the patio door open so we could hear the ocean. It locked too.
We got early check in.
In short, our stay was perfect!

I totally enjoyed my two nights at Kon Tiki Inn, top floor with a fire place. I’ve stayed at the Ritz, Fairmont’s, Holiday Inn’s, Best westerns, over my travels around the states in the last 22 years and I was very impressed and happy from this hotel.
It was clean, fab views, great price, easy walking into town & most of all. Everybody was friendly and helpful from the check-​in Steve and to the manager Irwin, ‘hope I spelt it right’ :) who gave me some great places to ride my bike, which the hotel has a place to store for you. I have nothing to say negative.
It was nice to see you don’t have to pay 100’s of dollars to get great service.

Always clean, always friendly, always a super fair price for the experience, view and proximity to downtown Pismo and the pier. It’s our go to place to get away from the city. Every room is ocean front and each room is great. Our fav is the third floor rooms. Definitely recommend this place to anyone! Great for families too– bottom floor rooms walk out to patios and grassy area for kids to play. Always clean pool and hot tubs. Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars!

Staying at the Kon Tiki Inn was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. It served as the backdrop for a wonderful few days vacay. Here’s this list:
1. The staff is super friendly and accommodating — without fail.
2. Every room faces the ocean and has a balcony or patio
3. The rooms are nice and big
4. Bathrooms, though not fancy, are sparkling clean and well maintained
5. The beds are very comfy and the pillows are divine.
6. The rooms have a little fridge & microwave.
7. The continental breakfast included make-​your-​own fluffy waffles.
8. Steamers is right next door. Yay!
9. Did I mention the efficiency and friendliness of the staff?
10. Heated pool and 2 jacuzzis.
11. Well maintained grounds.
12. Staircase of 115 steps take you to & from the beach and keep your legs in shape.
13. Sunsets are the BEST from the balcony.
14. The value for money was surprising for a Central Coast town.
And that concludes my assessment. The Kon Tiki is my favorite hotel and I will be back! Thanks, Kon Tiki! Love ya!
