Locally owned and operated, Barrel is a full-service retail merchant of fine wines and a full service wine bar in NW Portland. Its particular emphasis is on excellent customer service, knowledge, quality inventory, and competitive pricing.
We offer a broad, yet unique, selection of local and international wines, available by the bottle through our retail wine shop or to be enjoyed by the bottle or by the glass in our wine bar. We also feature local charcuterie and artisan cheese selections.
Additional services: Private parties, Gift Certificates and Gift Baskets are available for that special occasion or just to say thank you.

Meet the Business Owner
Mark J.
Business Owner
The founding member of Barrel, Mark Jacobsmeyer, possesses considerable entrepreneurial spirit coupled with successful professional careers in the restaurant, hotel/resort and wine industries.
Mark brings over 20 years of wine related experience to this venture. Most recently, Mark worked as the wine steward with QFC in Bethany Village, NW Portland. Prior to his position at QFC, Mark spent more than 9 years working in sales for a large wine distributor in the Portland market.
In 1991, Mark landed his first Food and Beverage Management position with The Los Olivos Grand Hotel in the Santa Ynez Valley, California. Subsequent to this position, Mark held a similar position at The Alisal Guest Ranch in Solvang, California as well as The Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, California.
Mark holds both the Introductory Certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers as well as the Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) from the Society of Wine Educators.
