Mike and his staff are great. Much better than going to a big chain pharmacy. They know you by name and will answer questions rather than forcing you out the door.

Well… damn. I almost got to give these guys a good review. I did have a great first experience with these guys, but the second one was terrible.
I took my prescription for Ritalin in to drop off not realizing that it was too early. As someone with ADHD and several prescriptions I don’t always remember the exact date that I last got them.
I replied «oh well that’s ok I’ll bring it back» and the pharmacist on duty said: «no we will keep it on file for you». So even though my doctor had written it for that day, the pharmacist not only was refusing to fill it but was not returning it to me.
I called a week later and told them that I would be coming in to pick it up and was told over the phone that they didn’t have it on file. After explaining what it happened the woman on the phone seemed to vaguely remember me coming in and said «someone lost your paper prescription but don’t worry about it we will find it». So now they were acting like it wasn’t a big deal that they had lost my prescription. I told them that I was not feeling good about this and was going to come in until it was found.
I went down to Brooklyn pharmacy and waited, the exact pharmacist who took my prescription from me originally was working. I told him I would wait until it was found. About every 35 minutes the pharmacist would look at me and say «are you sure you dropped it off with us?» And I would explain to him again that he was the exact pharmacist who took it. At least the woman working did not act like she didn’t know who I was, she kept assuring him that I dropped it off with him last week and I am sure that he recognized me. About an hour and a half later they called someone else and to help them look for it. He told me he remembered me and was just going to fill it and the she found it.
I look very young, and at times I’m treated disrespectfully for that. I don’t know if they thought I was trying to fill a prescription early? Even though my doctor had written it for that day? But if the pharmacist is going to choose to keep a prescription on file at least have the respect to keep track of it. I had to deal with the same thing at the Fred Meyer pharmacy and I just don’t feel I can trust any of these places. I understand not being able to keep track of everything, but don’t choose to treat me disrespectfully because of your mistakes.
They at least apologized profusely and told me they appreciated me waiting. And that’s why I’m giving them more than one star. While I was waiting they joked with me and try to keep me in a good mood which they did. I respect these people trying to work in an old-​school manner and I realize that they been around forever, but it might be time to at least buy a computer when you’re dealing with someone’s medicines! Every time I have been in there with other people they have made mistakes with their medicines or lost them completely as well.

I moved into the neighborhood 3 years ago. Shortly after I transfered from Fred Meyer to Brooklyn Pharmacy. I love supporting local, small business. I like the display cases filled with old apothecary bottles. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, however, there is a lady or maybe two who can be a bit condescending over the phone. I find it rude and occassionally I think about taking my business elsewhere. I haven’t because I feel loyal to them. And it also helps that the store is only three blocks from my house.

I love this pharmacy! I’ve been going there for decades and they just do their best be helpful and friendly!

An awesome little mom-​and-​pop pharmacy! Pharmacist helpful and knowledgeable. And quick service! Every time I’ve gone in the staff has been pleasant. I give 4 instead of 5 stars merely because the over-​the-​counter items are not well stocked… Although that’s clearly not their main business. Great little place, I highly recommend!

Great service! Competent staff. When I had an issue with my doctor’s office, they were very helpful and called my doctor for me several times. Also they are locally owned and operated.

I want to like this pharmacy but after the second time in about 2 years of having my Express Scripts insurance become a major stumbling block to them filling my prescription I am done. The first time-​since my doc changed my Rx and wanted me to start immediately I went to Brooklyn Pharm instead of waiting for the Rx by mail that I usually use. The female pharmacist would not accept my military Tri-​Care ID insisting it was not ‘enough’ she called Tri Care and after insinuating that I was trying to scam her out of my thyroid medication she finally grudgingly filled the Rx. Fast forward to today; Tri Care pharm called said my thyroid medication was back ordered and suggested I get it filled locally. Again Tri-​Care said Brooklyn Pharmacy takes Tri-​Care/​Express Scripts. I went in, the pharmacist-​a male this time thought my military Tri-​Care card wasn’t enough. He first said Oh yes they fill for Express Scripts then thought I should have more ID-​my card wasn’t enough. OK, I left. Went to Rite Aid– they filled it right away– my military Tri-​Care card was enough. Customer service is lacking; knowledge of Tri-​Care/​Express Scripts is lacking-​if they don’t want to fill for this insurance they should take their name off the list of covered providers. Very disheartened by the unprofessional, unhelpful attitude. Once I could understand but this seems like their way of doing business.

I also highly recommend this place. Have gone there for many years…
They have been knowledgable in explaining all kinds of remedies, alternatives to prescriptions, compounded drugs etc…
When I went in recently to refill a prescription I’ve had for years the pharmacist came out to inform me that my insurance company had made a computer error and the price which has been $ 30, for years had just jumped to $ 90. –before even thinking about it and yes in front of ‘the older people’ I said F#*K THEM! I then asked what the price would be for this drug with no insurance… its generic and very commonly used-​the pharmacist said $ 181. !!!
He was very helpful in explaining he’d seen this before. And its unlikely the insurance would fix the problem. (he did not lecture me about using a very appropriately placed bad word like I’m still in the 4^th grade) and he said that was just waaay too much of a mark up for them to take-​so he sold me the scrip for $ 45. and we left the f#%**ing insurance company out of it.
In my book this level of common sense, compassionate customer service is solid gold.
Its become so rare especially in health care.

I’ve been going to Brooklyn Pharmacy for over 20 years and my visits there have always been refreshing and comforting. The head pharmacist there, Mike, and his daughter have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. I always feel like I’m being taken care of in a was that is difficult to find in this day and age. If they happen to be helping someone else when you walk in, be patient. You will want the same care and attention to detail that the person in front of you was most likely given.

I have supported this business or several years — I like the idea of an independent, family owned shop much more than Walgreen’s or the like. The fact of the matter is, that despite themselves, their customer service is lacking. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. My son is having surgery tomorrow and I dropped off his prescriptions several days in

I love this place. I’ve been going here a little over ten years and have always found the staff to be helpful and kind. They’ve been more than helpful in discussing medications and often go out of their way to help. The service is really fast and, when there is a line, it’s a «line» of one person ahead of you.
Someone else mentioned the old fashioned candies and, I have to say, I do enjoy them. Chick-​O-​Sticks and Big Hunks aren’t that easy to find but they are fun to eat. Hmmm, I wonder if they have Idaho Spuds…
There aren’t very many locally owned drugstores anymore and it’s a shame. Shipping profits out of town is a hidden cost to doing business with the chains. This kind of shop is better for everyone in the community.
I have the hardest time imagining someone getting the «rudest customer service» there. I have seen customers be quite rude and never saw the staff respond rudely. I wonder if someone was having a bad day — either the staff or the customer. Perhaps, in the spirit of generosity, we might imagine that some extenuating circumstance might have been at play…

Well, I want to like this place, because it’s independent, and still open. But honestly, they seem to be working hard to put themselves out of business. I’m ok with them not opening the hours of the big chains, I get that, but what I don’t appreciate is them loosing prescriptions, and then how rude the staff are. The comment in another review that we should put up with them being ‘rough around the edges’ because they are ‘older folks’ just doesn’t cut it for me.

I love that this is a small place. I agree that there is barely any wait and if you call it in before you go it is always ready when you get there. One bonus is the old fashioned candies they have for sale. I love the caramels and the fudge so I make it a treat since I only have to go there once per month for my refills.
The people here are relatively friendly. They are older folks so it can seem like they are kinda rough around the edges but to me it is kinda endearing.
Support local businesses! Go here! There are so few locally owned pharmacies available. they have all been shutting down with megastore competition… It was hard to even find a small place like this online… SO I’m sticking with it…

I like this pharmacy a lot more than I do the chains. They don’t make you wait just so you shop, they get it ready as soon as they can and sometimes thats very fast. It’s also locally owned and that means a lot.
That being said, it’s not perfect. I’ve been told not to let my child run around during long waits, and my wife had her name made fun of by one of the men behind the counter… her name is relatively similar to one in a popular movie and the comparison is not one meant to compliment when people make it.
Since then, I’ve gotten to know everyone here a lot better, they know our family and our medications and work with us to make sure we get the right thing at the right price, sometimes even making positive changes to the prescriptions.
All in all I’ve been here dozens of times and the overall experience is far superior to the cold anonymousness, bulletproof glass, and forced shopping wait of your local RXchain at the nearest intersection.
