The mission of Mad Science is to get grade school age children really excited about science by providing them with interactive, hands-​on science activities that engage their minds and spark their curiosity about the world around them. Our services include: assemblies & stage shows, in-​class workshops, after-​school science enrichment, home school programs, family science nights, carnival booths, summer camps, scouting programs, corporate events, holiday parties and birthday parties. Our unique approach to dazzling kids with amazing science concepts has the children having so much fun, that they don’t even know that they are learning. With our new Mad Science Laboratory Party room, it makes it possible for you to come to us for the best hassle-​free birthday party ever! Our new location is also great for home school sessions, scouting programs, and even school field trips. Whether you come to us or we come to you, Mad Science will show your children how cool science really is.

Established in 1996.

Mad Science of Portland and Vancouver is a locally owned business that has been part of the local children’s education community for over 14 years. We provide high quality programming including assemblies & stage shows, in-​class workshops, after-​school science enrichment, home school programs, family science nights, carnival booths, summer camps, scouting programs, corporate events, holiday parties and birthday parties. Our philosophy is to present exciting, high quality, engaging shows and activities that demonstrate to children just how «cool» science really is. Mad Science programs are high energy, fast paced, science presentations that give us the opportunity to actively engage and stimulate the children with mesmerizing demonstrations and activities. We engage the children by asking probing questions aimed at stimulating their creative minds. Including children as volunteers, we fully engage their bodies as well as their minds in the science concepts we present.

Business Owner

The owner of Mad Science of Portland and Vancouver, Ms. Sue Theissen, brings vast amounts of business, education and scientific expertise to this thriving enterprise. As a corporate executive, Ms. Theissen embraced the philosophy of quality as a driving force in the marketplace. This dedication to quality has taken Mad Science from an unknown entity in the Portland and Vancouver area in 1997, to a business known for providing quality programming throughout the state. Her drive to provide outstanding programs earned her the coveted Franchise of the Year award from the Mad Science Group after only 13 months in business. This honor was awarded for a second time to Mad Science of Portland and Vancouver in 2009.
