Let me tell you a story of deception and unethical business practice I experienced at Margulis Jewelers. My Skagen wrist watch was losing about 10 minutes every 24 hours. I brought it to Margulis jewelers. I asked them to check the battery. They suggested I buy a new battery to try. I had them install a new battery for $ 15. That would be $ 10 over the retail price of a watch battery, a nice profit, but after all they are located in the high rent district on SW 5^th Avenue! They told me they would have to keep the watch to examine it more closely to see why it is losing time. Close to a week later, an employee called me to tell me my watch does not work at all, not even losing 10 minutes. She said it was dead. She said it needed a new movement that would cost something like $ 135. I said I would come in and decide what to do. I was suspicious.
I had brought them a watch that was losing 10 minutes and got back a watch that was dead. I didn’t believe them. I did some research and took the watch to Alexander’s Goldworks on NE Fremont St. Alexander opened my watch, saw that the battery was good (it was new after all), took a quick look at the (Japanese-​made) movement, said it looked fine, closed the watch, handed it back to me in perfect working order, and thanked me for coming in. He did not charge me. It’s been about a week, and my watch keeps perfect time. Margulis Jewelers must be having a tough time paying the rent. Do not consider their services. Their staff are either without skill, or they lie to sell you something you don’t need.

Margulis has the most beautiful rings, Hermes watches, estate jewelery… David Margulis will also custom design a piece for you! My lapis ring is unbelievable… I’ve never seen anything like it. David designed a timeless piece for my mother who has passed on to me (lucky me!)and I will pass on to my daughters. I love this place!

David and Lori are fantastic. We were first time buyers and they treated us as if we were lifelong friends and customers. I bought an engagement ring online hoping it would be good enough for the proposal, with the intention of replacing it with something we’d pick out together. The online ring turned out to be perfect with the exception of the prongs, which we thought could be a bit more delicate. We took it into Margulis expecting to be intimidated by the atmosphere and the prices, but we were mistaken. Lori and David took care to understand exactly what we liked about the ring and what we didn’t. They made some great suggestions that we agreed with and they didn’t bat an eye when we disagreed. They proved to be masters at helping us define exactly what it was we were looking for. In our minds, we were taking a gamble by sending back a near perfect ring and asking a jeweler to start from scratch to make something even better. The ring we walked away with is perfect in every way. While it’s similar in shape, style, and price to the online ring, it’s a thousand times more elegant, and a million times more special. I strongly recommend a visit to Margulis next time you’re in the market for a nice piece of jewelry.

There are all other jewelers, then there is Margulis. We have gone there for 15 years. Classic, amazingly beautiful, and the highest level of customer service. We have gone to Bonnie during these years. I have gradually added to my jewelry collection through her. I completely trust them. I go back every few months to have the jewelry cleaned. Their customer service is amazing, but their products are the best there is. If you want your own design brought to life, buy their designs, or buy vintage, the best. Highly, highly recommend.

Margulis is a classical and classy jewelry shop, with a gorgeous selection of more and lesser well-​known brands. If you are investing in that kind of purchase, to me it makes more sense to buy timelessness through lasting elegance.
The staff represents the store so well by their always friendly demeanor. And they attempt to help you in any which way, which, in my case also fortunately, means thinking ahead (watch battery). That is unusual in any kind of business and I appreciate their well-​meaning thoughtfulness.
This I find hard to resist when you have the means and the need for repairs of older (family) jewelry and watches.

Stopped in here over the summer with my boyfriend and his mom. She’d gotten a fancy diamond bracelet from her husband for their 50^th anniversary and needed a new clasp to ensure that it didn’t fall off when she wore it. They’ve brought in and purchased lots of jewelery here over the years, and have been loyal customers.
On our way out of the shop, my bf grabbed 2 chocolate truffles from the giant bowl, one for him and one for me (my hands were full). The person at the door made a snarky rude comment, «please only 1 truffle per person,» which, after spending thousands of money at this establishment, was received in poor taste. Seems trite, but it was 2 damn truffles, not a handful or anything ridiculous.

Thank you to Margulis Jewelers. I had a ring stuck on my finger, and it was cutting into me, and it hurt really bad. The folks at Margulis are the ultimate in professionalism, friendliness and helpfulness. They ushered me in and were so compassionate. They cut the ring off my finger and did not charge me a penny !!! That is kindness and fabulous customer service even though I did not make a purchase. This is a beautiful shop. I give Margulis Jewelers and their associate representatives the highest rating possible. Know that you will be taken care of in every sense of the word. Beautiful shop, (across from Pioneer Sq and Nordstrom.) Perfect if you prefer shopping local, estate jewelry, & one of a kind designs. 10 years ago, my husband surprised me with THE most lovely, detailed platinum and diamond engagement ring from here, which was soon followed by a platinum wedding band. Each year, the very friendly and knowledgable staff inspects and polishes my rings, then they add an anniversary diamond to my band. My husband has given me other beautiful pieces from here, and they’re all unique and very precious to me. We love this store!

We went to Margulis hoping to find jewelry to go with my wedding dress. We had been looking everywhere for a three string pearl bracelet and could find nothing that met our price range or style.
At first, we were worried that our price range would not match up with what they were offering in the store– but when we told David what we were looking for, he offered to help custom make the bracelet within our given price range.
He gave us 3 different options to choose from, all with different pricing options that fit within our budget. The turn around was less than one week, and the end result was a gorgeous bracelet that was beyond anything I could have thought.
The customer service and experience far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend Margulis to any of my friends.

David is very knowledgeable and experienced. After a few minutes of talking to him you can tell he is just such a kind, gentle and genuine person who wants to help you find exactly what you are looking for. He’s very patient and will make sure everything is precise and is happy to pass on his 40 years of experience and knowledge to you!

The place can come off as a bit stuffy off the bat, but just make sure you go straight to David and you won’t regret it!

one thing i can say about margulis is they’re snooty. i’m sure they’re very good at what they do but i prefer to do business with a venue that’s a little more down to earth.
the other thing that didn’t sit well with me is the sales lady was ready to take my jewelery away for appraisal with out any discussion of price or formality such as signing papers or getting my info. when i asked her how much the appraisal would cost she became defensive. with that i kindly thanked her and left

The 3-​star review below is puzzling to me. The reviewer wanted honesty from the jeweler, and he got it. So what’s the problem?
Margulis is the classiest jewelry place in town. The sales people here are patient, knowledgable, and not pushy. It’s OK to bring a smaller piece here for appraisal, they will not look down on you or try to up-​sell a bigger piece.
Appraisals, repair, antique jewelry… they kick butt every time. Forget the mall stores and come here for a one-​in-​a-​million experience.
Trust me, you won’t regret it!

While this place was recommended to us by a trusted friend and it does have a wide selection of estate jewellery, I have to admit that my perception of the establishment was more than a little tainted by scaremongering on the part of the sales staff.
The establishment itself is nice, replete with antique furniture (from 1932 and original, if you ask the sales folks), and many a gem stone. The sales guy seemed to know quite a lot about his industry we were surprised when he barked that stainless steel and titanium rings were unsafe, that they couldn’t be cut off. He’d asked me what kinds of rings we’d looked at prior to our visit: titanium, stainless steel, white gold I replied.
I guess I shouldn’t blame him, titanium lasts longer, looks very similar and is ¹⁄₂₀^th of the cost of the rings he was trying to sell. All the same, I think his customers would appreciate a little honesty.
