The service is personal and extremely friendly. We had about six items from the menu and loved every single one of them! This is a five-star restaurant!

This is a 2.5 stars. We love sushi and live in the area, so decided to try this place for dinner over the weekend. It was early, and there was only one other table of people in the restaurant. The food was mediocre. Prices were standard for SE Portland sushi restaurants. The quality was okay, but we’ve had better at Mio and other local places. The service was subpar. It seems to be a family business. One man, and two woman. It seemed that one of the women was the mother in law. Their infant baby was also in the restaurant, crying, and being held and soothed by the wife/mother/waitress. We have children and are sympathetic to their cries, the challenges of soothing them, etc. However, we are customers in your restaurant, and while it’s off putting enough to hear the crying children of other customers, to not receive service because the owners are tending to their infant and getting to hear the crying, well, that is something that we don’t appreciate as paying customers. It took a while for her to take our drink and dinner order because of the family issues that seemed to be going on. Also, she failed to clear our empty plates when bringing new plates of food causing dirty plates to pile up on our small, two person table. Really??? Overall, she was distracted with the baby and the family conversations that seemed to be happening behind the sushi bar and not terribly concerned with the service of the patrons. We would not come back.

Absolutely love this place. The vegetable spring rolls are so good and the sauce with them is wonderful. Fantastic miso soup and great cucumber rolls. And! They’ve got this fried dessert thing that I was unable to stop eating until we ran out. Will definitely go again.

The boyfriend and I stopped here for my birthday and we had a great experience. They were close to closing, so I was worried they’d turn us away(it was about an hour to posted close times) and they didn’t hesitate to seat us and get us situated. They were really up front about their situation, because newly opened they are still waiting for their license to serve liquor, and even when a couple came in after us they took them as well. Our waiter was very talkative but friendly, and overall I think having this within walking distance is great.

Where do I begin… My husband and I saw this place had good reviews on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Disappointing. To begin, the waitress(only server there and definitely Thai) didn’t know the menu – at all. As we ordered, she had to repeatedly look at the menu to see how an item was spelled. My husband and I wanted to get a bottle of sake on the menu, she first brought out a completely different one from the one we ordered. After we told her it was wrong, she came out with an ‘equivalent’ bottle(similar flavor) because they didn’t have the one on the menu. And though the replacement was 30% less(it’s supposed to be a 750 ml bottle but the one she gave us was 500ml), she said that the price would be the same. We declined. Between my husband and I, we had the veggie spring rolls(seems premade), tempura shrimp(doughy in the middle), sashimi and three sushi rolls. All were mediocre at best. Oh and miso soup, which our waitress forgot to bring out until we reminded her half way through the meal). All in all… Blah. Maybe their Thai dishes would be better… But I guess I won’t find out. Not coming back.

So my friend and i were walking in the area. We stopped to check out the menu in the window and the owner/cook came out to personally meet us and say hi. We were heading someplace but looking for somewhere to eat at the same time so we told her we’d be back. Came back 15 mins later and was greeted again. Took our seats and was immediately brought filtered water in a chilled wine bottle. She gave us great suggestions on items and was willing to alter and personalize rolls. We tried the Dragon roll, rainbow roll(altered) and a combo platter of California roll, sushi, n gyoza. All of it was prepared wonderfully and beautifully. Some of the best tasting sushi I’ve ever had. And by far one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. When we were done, she went out of her way to surprise us with a dessert. It was so good. It was elephant ear consistency with a creamy sugary peanut topping. It was awesome. I would definitely recommend this place for great Japanese cuisine n personalized service.

Me and my friend gave this place a try. We ordered an $ 12 salad that was wilted and had slimy lettuce. They made us a new one which we were told was going to be smaller because they ran out of lettuce. They still charged us $ 12 and did not give us the option to order anything else. The place was also filled with fruit flies. Not going back.

Extremely happy to have this place right by to my food cart! I always judge a place that sells sushi on their spider roll and a place that sells Thai on their pad thai. Both are amazing here! Friendly staff and wonderful service! I will definitely be going here on a regular basis.

So happy to finally have such fresh and delicious sushi on Hawthorne! Everything was perfect but especially the creamy salmon roll the sushi chef treated us to. Buttery and very fresh. Next time I’ll try the fresh crab meat pad thai and the spicy kimchi ramen. TRYTHISPLACE!

This is a wonderful, new hideaway on Hawthorne Blvd. I noticed the simple, yet elegant décor from outside their windows and it was most inviting. I took a look at their menu and was personally enticed to try their tonkatsu ramen, being a Japanese«foodie.» The ever-most-friendly manager was on duty and he explained that the ramen was one of the best meals that they had. Boy, was it amazing. The broth was so flavorful and comforting. The manager also got me to buy some imported sake with hints of eucalyptus and it was pleasant and aromatic. They have the perfect selection of imported and locally made sake for when you want to be bold and solo, or adventurous with your buddies. It adds a nice global flair to my alcohol palette, and I’m the kind of person who isn’t afraid to get diverge from the usual martini. I also believe they will be making sake cocktails soon and expanding with a sushi menu. I can’t wait to go back.
