Sugar Me

Today, I had my first experience with sugaring. My first thought was how adorable the front of the shop was! I saw Trey and she did an excellent job. She was warm and friendly and greeted me upon arrival. I was early and we started my appointment promptly and ended sooner than expected. She went as quickly as the job would allow. The friendly conversation helped ease my mind away from the pain and it was over before I knew it! I will definitely be returning!

After seeing alllllllll the good reviews for this place, I finally decided to try it out awhile ago. Unfortunately, didn’t have a great experience and haven’t been back since. The place was freezing cold, stood around waiting for awhile while listening to the staff chat to each other (with no acknowledgement I was standing there). I had heard a lot of good things about sugaring, but my experience didn’t line up. It took forever. It hurt. I ended up with lots of red bumps all over, which is strange for me since I’ve never even had a reaction to waxing. Did I say it took FOREVER? Ugh. I probably won’t go back, and wouldn’t recommend to others.
****Shortly after writing this review, the owner of the studio contacted me. She genuinely felt bad about my experience, and has taken steps to remedy it. I appreciate her concern, and I hope to revisit and give it another shot in the future. +1 star in the meantime… glad to know they care a lot about their customers and their experiences!

First visit today at Sugar Me. Greer K. was amazing. The overall environment of the shop is so lovely & inviting. The intake process was super easy, and I felt very comfortable on the table and in the room. Greer felt like a friend, immediately. We were laughing together the entire time. I will say, it’s not painless, but it also isn’t unbearable at all. I’m immediately hooked, and so thankful that Sugar Me is in my neighborhood.

I absolutely love this place! I’ve been going there consistently for the last two years. Clean, professional, friendly, and kinda cool. I would tell you who my favorite Sugarista is but then we’d have to compete for appointments so… oh, damn. It’s Courtney. She’s really great. Anyway, useful info: I have extremely sensitive skin and have often reacted badly to waxing. With sugaring I have no ingrown hairs and a quick recovery time (i.e. if you would like to «spend time», you know, with someone special later on you’re good to go). Prices are comparable to waxing and scheduling is really easy and can be done online. Sugar Me is the spot for your hair removal needs and you will leave there feeling like a sexy slice of coconut cream pie rather than a hot, sticky mess.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet! Sugar Me is amazing. From someone that has had nearly every part of me waxed at some point, I’m a complete sugaring convert.
Since moving to Portland and in search of my new hair removal salon, this has been my place for seven months. While I think that this is slightly more painful in the process, there is practically no recovery time and my sensitive skin has thanked me over and over. I love that this is all natural, requires less growth, and theres no way any part of my skin is coming up with the hair.
The salons are absolutely adorable, and Greer K. is a gem! She’s always made me super comfortable, and is extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend her and this salon to all my friends (a few of which have already been converts as well!).
Bonus, the prices are pretty reasonable. Some of which are less than what I used to pay for a wax. The only drawback is that you have to book in advance! I find myself booking my next appointment at each session.

Went to sugar me on division for my first sugaring experience and it was great! I have had traditional waxing before and my skin never reacts well. So far. No irritation or in grown hairs! Courtney was also really sweet! I will be back!

I hated getting waxed. You know… down there. Hated. Pretty much refused because it hurts so much. I tried sugaring today. It wasn’t anything like getting waxed. I got the portlander… bc I am one. Robin was my sugerer and put me at ease instantly. It doesn’t hurt that bad! I’m waiting to see how the regrowth is… but very likely going to be a regular.

Great experience overall. I have had quite a few Brazilian waxes and this takes the cake. My skin was so less sensitive after and returned to its nice soft self within hours. The place is comfortable, staff is easy to talk to and prices are reasonable. Definitely recommend!

You know that commercial with the two rob lowes… and one is all hairy? That used to be me. I should have been out selling falafal.
Now I look like an Olympic swimmer. Woman swoon, everyone wants to pet me now. It’s a burden I will have to bear until my back hair grows back.
This place rocks!

Fantastic people, fantastic ambiance, fantastic job! I am very happy that I had the courage to try Sugar Me because I am extremely happy woth their service now. I highly recommend Greer. She is very gentle and friendly. She makes you feel very comfortable and gets the job done at the same time :)

I love this place.

This is by far an away the best waxing experience I have ever had. The sugar wax is so completely different than regular wax and there are no wax strips. Just sugar,
lemon and water formed into a gooey ball. The removal of my hair didn’t hurt as much as with the regular wax method which is a huge plus! Greer was very nice, easy to talk to and answered all my questions and very thorough. Since it was my first visit, she discounted my service, which was so nice. I will definitely book another appointment.

I’ve been going here for over a year, and I am still raving about this place to my friends. I was no stranger to brazilians, and had been getting waxed for a number of years by the time I learned of sugaring and gave Sugar Me a try (after bushing up a bit to really put it to the test). I was an instant convert.

My close friend suggested Sugar Me as the place to get my first Brazilian wax done and my experience was wonderful. I have gone back 3 times since, and would continue to go back if it wasn’t for having moved to another sate.
The owner Kate is very professional and her staff is very professional and caring. Greer K. has always helped put me at ease and the appointments I’ve had with her go super fast and she is very thorough.
So glad that I lost my Brazilian wax virginity here! No other place can compare.

I have been waxing for years. YEARS. My cousin turned me on to this place, and I will never wax my face again. Everyone who works here is knowledgeable and friendly (I’ve seen almost everyone who works here, and they’re equally awesome). Prices are similar to waxing, it hurts less, and for someone with sensitive skin like me, it doesn’t do such a number on my face afterwards. The redness goes away in an hour. Try it! It’s awesome!

Having come from a magnificent studio I’d be part visiting for six years in Seattle, I was worried about finding a new place in Portland for all my hair removal needs. Now that I’ve been in Portland just about three years and have visited two sugaring studios, I have to say that this is my favorite for its location (free parking is muy bueno) and Tray and Courtney. Between the therapy session feel of getting to see them and the excellent hair removal I’ve received over the years (along with the stellar prices; Seattle was not as competitive with waxing), I’ve turned into a sugaring addict, not to mention that Kate keeps the space so freaking cute, it’s like walking into a fun boutique that I wished sold swimwear… or at least a wide range of lingerie.
A few points to define though. First, no, all hair removal hurts, so this won’t hurt less than a regular waxing brazilian, but if you’re like me, your skin will not decide that it’s being bombed and attempt to resemble the Stay Puft man from Ghostbusters after, so that’s already a huge improvement from waxing. Taking a couple advil or aspirin before are enough to dull the sensation to a point where I don’t notice it at all. Second, I feel like this is far more sanitary than waxing – I understand all estheticians should adhere to strict sanitation standards, but you can’t reuse a ball of sugar nor double dip, so any chance of that is nil. Third, this is the oldest form of hair removal. The Egyptians were onto something and I wholeheartedly have embraced it so I can have the smooth legs, arms, and nether regions I so desire. Can’t wait to frequent their new location opening up on Division!

I’ve been a regular here for over two years now and still recommend Tray or Kate to do your Brazilian. Especially if you’re new to Brazillians, you’ll want a seasoned pro to do it! Otherwise, the work may not be as thorough, hurt more, and/​or take a longer time.
I’ve also gotten legs and underarms sugared here by all of the ladies who work here and have always been happy with the results.

Been to see both Kate and Tray a couple times. Love this place. Now that I’ve been sugared, I’ll never go back to waxing. It is both faster and less painful than waxing. If I am just going in for a bikini, I am usually in and out in less than 10 minutes. However, if you do arrive early, there are plenty of cute things to look at or treat yourself to in the boutique.
They do such a great job here. I would highly recommend to anyone!

Sugar Me is absolutely awesome!!! Beautiful and charming surroundings and very attentive service.
I’ve seen Greer Kukak now twice, and she is incredible: quietly confident and calm with a steady yet gentle touch (she also does facials, which I can’t wait to try!!!). Getting sugared is nothing like getting waxed.
I’m talking eyebrows here, so we’re not talking about great pain, but there is NO pain with sugaring. It’s incredible! And, the usual redness I experience from waxing (which lasts over an hour and looks like I got a bad sunburn or a punch in the face — ha ha) is absent!
I’m a believer. I’m never going back to waxing!
And, I can’t recommend Greer Kukak high enough!
