I had this place recommended by a coworker and decided to give a try a night we were in the area. It was a several months ago(summer) so we were able to get a table in the patio which had a nice ambiance. The food was another story, not sure if it was an off day for them or what. But our food was pretty greasy. Our waitress got our order written down incorrectly.

The food in Portland is beyond amazing. The Farm Café is perfectly find food, but simply not outstanding. I personally loved Grassa, Pok Pok, Pearl Bakery and Maurice’s which are serioud five star places.

Intimate, charming atmosphere but why does all of the food have to be so drenched in vinegar and mustard? If you’re into sour and bitter than this place is your jam but I tried a variety of items on the menu and was disappointed with the overdose on vinegar. Won’t be coming again for that reason.

I stop in here on a semi-regular basis JUST to pick up a to-go order of their smoked salmon deviled eggs with lamb bacon. That’s right. LAMBBACON. ANDSMOKEDSALMONDEVILEDEGGS. There is NOTHING that isn’t awesome about that dish. Moreover, I was able to bring a vegetarian friend who was THRILLED with the vegetarian options. And I could still have my meat. And did I mention those eggs? OOH-LA-LA. It’s also got a romantic/intimate atmosphere, outdoor seating if you want it, and… I have no idea what the drink situation is like, but it’s probably fine. Surely someone covers this in their review. I love the place. I need to see how vegans would fare, but vegetarians and carnivores are gonna do just fine. LOVETHOSEEGGS. SOGOOD. Please leave some for me, m’kay?

WE had a great night here. The place is busy and we didn’t have a reservation so we sat at the bar which was great. The Bartender suggested a wine to start and it was very nice Pinot. We asked about the veggie burger and she said it was good but a number of things on the menu were great. We started with the baked Brie and Clams and Fires Wow both were excellent. The Bartender suggested the Kabocha Ravioli, Wow, Wow, the flavor was fantastic they were perfectly cooked and the roasted squash inside was great. We also had a order of fries which are great. My Wife and I are both in to great rums and the bartender said she had seen a bottle way up high and dug it out for us it was a great finish to a wonderful meal. the Food was great and the bartender well she was great also. Even the owner checked in on us. No wonder this place is busy.

Great food and a courteous staff but the lighting in the front room combined with the constant opening of the front door that let in a burst of frigid air every few minutes wasn’t great. Next time I will request a seat in the back where the real action seemed to be.

Pricey. I pronounced one of the words wrong when ordering. She kept saying it correctly… which just confused me as I didn’t know I was saying it wrong. Gnocche… My bad! The food was delicious, don’t get me wrong but the portions were small for the price. The room was too dark and its set inside of an old house, which can be awesome. I didn’t like the walls being here and there… Made for a confusing layout. They tried to fit too many people into too small of a space, in my opinion. Felt I was sitting back to back with a complete stranger… I’d love to go back, but my boyfriend isn’t interested. It left a dent in his wallet without filling his belly. The drinks were pricey too. :(Maybe they have a happy hour for another visit? I’ll check into that.

Booked an early seating for two prior to a show at the nearby revolution hall. Loved the ambience, super friendly staff and the interesting menu. Had a fabulous cocktail while wating for our food– braised lamb with spaetzle for me and quinoa risotto cakes for my friend… Which our friendly server forgot to order. but then expedited super fast. Not only did he get us another round of drinks on the house, when we got the bill… It was zeroed out. On the house. Hence my vote of 5 stars. The food was well worth the wait and this was great customer service. We will be back. As paying customers. Gladly.

Walked in and were able to get a table on the patio, as the place was packed inside. It was so nice outside! With the weather threatening to rain, an umbrella was raised over us and we were very comfortable with our fleeces on. The Lamb/Potato Pie and Herb Crusted Tofu with Mushrooms Marsala were excellent in both seasoning and portion size! Noelle was spot on with her friendly and well-timed service. Did I mention the seasoning? Wonderful!

Great start to the night with warm welcome, delicious cocktails and yummy fritters. Unfortunately, our server acted as if she couldn’t get away from our table fast enough(I swear we’re pretty normal and showered ahead of time.) I ordered the risotto cakes, bland. Husband had the veggie burger, salty. One friend had the trout and said it was delicious but the sides of potatoes and other veggies were undercooked. The shining light on the night was the Shepard’s pie that apparently was quite good! I’d be willing to give this place another go, maybe it was an off night? I will probably shy away from the bland vegetarian options though…

A menu that changes daily according to availability of ingredients and chefs choice? This is right up my alley and the definition of farm to table; the way cooking should be. I had the broccoli fritters and feta ravioli. Both were delicious and filling. Also their craft cocktails are on point. Black peppercorn infused bourbon? Yes please. As someone who loves a vegetarian meal every now and then, you won’t find just a salad option for you here. I’m also sure their meat selections are also amazing. They had two fish options on menu the night I came so you pescatarian folks out there are covered too!

We changed our reservation from 7 people to 11 people and they were very accommodating. We liked the fact they had parking! The food and wine were all delicious! Radicchio salad got 2 thumbs up. Beet salad, baked brie, & deviled eggs were all winners. Entrées Were ALL delicious. The bartender shared her whiskey knowledge and it was appreciated. All in all there aren’t many places where all 11 people leave with happy faces! Thanks!

Farm café is very Portland, a bit shabby chic; been around for some time, but still has a great buzz. It is a great place to take out of towners who are vegetarian or pescatarian. Food is fresh, most of which is locally sourced. Menu and specials change frequently with the season. So if you are loving a menu item online today it may not be available. They maintain some of their menu year around, but most of the sides will change week to week! This is not a bad thing, but a highlight, as there is always something for everyone, even my carnivore husband. We ordered the butter lettuce and beet salads to share between 3 of us. Good thing we did, as both were huge portions, of course fresh as can be. Delish! Our mains were the tofu with Marsala, trout and lamb. All dishes were amazing and plenty to take home for left overs. Quality of the fish was outstanding. One of the best pan seared trout dishes I’ve had in a restaurant. Lamb was a ragu style with plenty of flavor, but nothing mind blowing. The vegan tofu Marsala was so full of flavor and depth, it was not lacking in anything. We were stuffed to the gills, but polished off a nice local bottle of locally produced wine and enjoyed our time. Pricing is very reasonable for a locally sourced concept. Service was excellent and friendly, but not overbearing. It is loud, but this just adds to the vibe. Parking is a challenge on Friday nights, but do-able.

Holy shit! Amazing and place. Love the inner decoration, but the food is even greater. I had cioppino which is really good; I am impressed but then it isn’t a difficult dish. We had lamb bacon devileggs and sauteed mushroom for starters. Mushroom is also good, but the devileggs is just beyond awesomeness. It literally melted in my mouth and full with a very delightful lamb flavor. As for tofu hater, if you tried the herb crusted tofu, you would definitely change your mind!

A great restaurant for a date! My boyfriend and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner here, where the ambiance is intimate and the service is attentive. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were seated right away. The inside space is cozy and dimly lit, and the exterior has an impressive outdoor patio area. We ordered the pickle plate to start, which happened to be green beans, shiitake mushrooms, and fennel bulb. The mushrooms were excellent, but we weren’t wowed by the others. I had the risotto cakes, which we both agreed were excellent — perfect portion and flavor. My boyfriend ordered the gnocchi, which although good, was not as large of a serving or filling as he had hoped. Overall, still a great meal and we will be back again soon.

This place is great! The food was fantastic– everything local and fresh and very flavorful. My guests and I were not disappointed with one thing… besides our server. If I could give the food 5 stars I would but the service we received, I would say, deserved 1 star. I won’t name any names but the guy was very pompous and aloof and really left a bad taste in our mouths. He was not warm or welcoming– very cold and borderline rude; so much so that he rolled his eyes at us when we asked to split the bill between two cards. All of the other staff we encountered were super friendly and accommodating but he was just a sour puss, which really is unfortunate when the food is really great. I would go back but honestly would request not to have this guy as our server again. If you’re going to be in the service industry at least act like you are happy to help your customers!

Came to Farm Café during a trip to Portland. It is located in an area of town with a lot of food and foot traffic. The place wasn’t too busy, although I made a reservation since that’s what all the previous Unilocalers recommended. Ordered the veggie burger since that was also recommended. And the burger was fantastic! You could hardly tell that it was a veggie burger. The bun was crisp and the lettuce was fresh. The party itself was tasty and filling, mostly tasting like a mix of veggies, grains and protein. Totally worth the visit to Farm Café and would definitely come back on my next trip to Portland.

I almost never leave reviews, but this was fantastic. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life, and it was a vegetarian patty. (I’m not vegetarian, either.) Usually I can dissect what spices or flavors were added. This time, it was such a great mixture, I couldn’t even place it. It just simply«tasted great» and was a great portion.

I’m a newly minted vegetarian. After two days of getting dragged to restaurants that treated me like a second class citizen, or an afterthought… When I saw the menu here I knew that I was WELL considered. Absolutely Vegetarian Friendly! A sumptuous meal that felt deeply satisfying. I had the grilled Tofu, it was well seasoned, the mashed potatoes it was served on were delicious and it looked fantastic. It was served like state, complete, and filling. Something I’ve been having a hard time with lately. Our waitress was lovely and the space was soooo cosy and intimate. Other restaurants take note! This is how you do it!

Vegetarian amazingness!!! The herb crusted tofu with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and mushroom Marsala was to die for and the Potatoe Gnocchi was the best I’ve ever had. We ordered the rhubarb crisp with coconut ice cream, which was a delicious ending to the most wonderful meal.

My favorite food place in Portlandia!!! Came here for a late Sunday dinner with a friend. Easy nearby street parking. This is a great place for vegetarians, which my friend likes to pretend to be sometimes. Made reservations just in case, but there was plenty of open tables at 9:30pm. Chose to sit outside in the patio which is really cute with string lights, very romantic if you’re on a date. We shared the clams and fries as an appetizer, which was delicious!!! I had to fight every urge to drink the broth afterwards. These clams were amazing and accompanied by yummy fries and a nice dollop of aioli. The fries were so good drenched in the broth! I got the veggie burger with house salad which was sooo good! I can see why other people might be put off by the texture as it is a little on the mushy side, not sturdy like a black bean burger. But I love eggplant and don’t mind a little bit of mush. It tasted excellent! Also the salad was great too! My friend got the ricotta/lemon ravioli. I tried it and it tasted very fresh, but I still liked my food better :) Would definitely recommend it! If I ever come back to Portland would also try a bunch of stuff on their happy hour menu.

Not sure how this place has escaped my notice for so long. It has it’s own parking lot! Although only 4 spaces. There are plenty of spaces along the street at dinner time. The mushroom appetizer was good 4 stars. The baked brie was supposed to be really good, and it was pretty good, but didn’t seem much different from what my friends make at home all the time. 3.5 stars. The halibut cakes were quite delicious, especially with the aioli 4.5 stars. The pan crusted tofu with garlic mashed potatoes were ok. The tofu was good but the mashed potatoes were just so so 3 stars. The poletta was decent. 3.5 stars. The veggie hamburger was pretty darn good for a veggie burger. 4.5 stars. The halibut was pretty good. 4 stars. The kids cheesy noodles were actually pretty good. 4.5 stars. The green ravioli was quite good. 4 stars. All in all I would go back. Most of the dishes were ones that I would order again. The service was good. Great place for vegetarians. Not exclusively vegetarian but lot of vegetarian choices.

I didn’t know this was a *Fancy* restaurant. Sure doesn’t look that way from its exterior. WOW is this place PRICEY! The name is definitely misleading as there doesn’t seem to be much ‘café’ inside this place at all. While the food and service was good, I did get the impression that they were trying to hurry us through as we didn’t order any alcoholic drinks(at $ 10+ apiece!) The vegan thing is very pronounced here — and that’s fine if you’re into it. You’ll get the stink-eye if you don’t make a reservation! I guess we were lucky to walk in and get a table on the weekend.
