Just had lunch here. I was looking for a sushi buffet and I found one! Sure, there is Tokyo One in Addison, but at times you don’t want to spend over $ 30 to eat Sushi. This place is only around $ 12 for lunch. It’s a smaller selection, but about 20 different rolls is all good for me. If you are used to Tokyo One and want that huge selection, then I would stick to Tokyo One, but if you just want to fill a craving, this place hits the spot . The sushi was presented in a clean manner. I got very full and satisfied. The service was very attentive and kept our glasses filled the entire time. I would definitely go back, but at this point, it would have to be vegetarian, since that’s the kick I’m on right now. LOL! It was not crowded at all, which is always a good thing for me. I recommend checking this jewel out :)

I’ll start off and say that this restaurant is probably closer to 3.5 stars but Unilocal only allows whole star increments so the rest of the reviews are right on. It’s located in a strip mall right near Richardson and is one of few all you can eat sushi buffets I’ve found around the dfw area. I came with about 14 coworkers during lunch and we did not call ahead of time. It seems like they are not always very busy during lunch since there was not that much sushi out and once or large party came in, the sushi chef went into over drive cranking out the rolls! There about 10 – 14 rolls rolls total, miso soup, some fried tempura vegetables and rice are on the menu. I think compared to some of the other sushi buffets I’ve been to, the selection is average at best and the quality of the sushi is a little bit above average, but it isn’t bad for 12 bucks. At the end of the meal the sushi chef came over and apologized and said to be sure to call ahead next time so he could prepare more sushi since our table generally clears the buffet whenever we had more than 6 people get more food at once, although we didn’t think that the wait for more food was too bad. I’d probably come back again if I was craving sushi!

The quality of the sushi isn’t great. I ate about 30 pieces of sushi and almost threw up an hour later! They do have about 10 different kinds of sushi for the buffet but they’re nothing special.

I had to write another review for this place. They have all you can eat sushi for just 11 dollars! The sushi is great, and the service exceptional! A phenomenal little spot if you’re craving sushi for a low price! The«All you can eat sushi» option comes with all you can eat miss soup, dumplings, and fried rice.

I went there 3 times this week. Once for dinner and twice for weekday lunch. The weekend and dinner buffet is $ 12 but it is exactly like the lunch buffet, just $ 2 more than the $ 10 weekday lunch buffet. Well, there’s a small difference. The dinner and weekend buffet had edamame and pork dumplings. Other than that, they’re the same. The cooked salmon rolls smelled a tiny bit fishy the first time(but was still fresh and edible) but on the second and third trip it was perfectly fine with no hint of fishiness at all. It was probably a fluke on that first trip. The miso soup is not MSG brew like other Japanese restaurants. It’s actually decent. They strive to keep everything very clean and fresh. I saw them change the ice under the trays of stuff after the ice melted to keep everything chilled and fresh. You can go in the mid afternoon and still find fresh sushi. My only complaint is that the tempura in the tempura rolls is cold and soggy. This is a very minor complaint and it is to be expected when you’re at a sushi buffet where the sushi is not made to order. Like I said in my previous review, Hinoki is good, fresh, sushi that is the quality of grocery store sushi, so it is not for the sushi snob.

A bare bones operation that served me burnt salmon. I won’t be back.

Superb sushi! Every bite a flavorful and textural experience that made me want to come back for more. Excellent miso, ramen, and tempura vegetables. I’m not sure, but I think they make their own picketed ginger. It’s about a 45 minute drive(with no traffic) from my place. Totally worth it.

Let’s just cut to the chase – YOUWILLLOVETHISPLACE! Ms. Jones and her ever handsome rock star husband are frequent fliers at this establishment – you will often find us at the corner table sharing good conversation along with heaping plates of the tastiest and freshest sushi rolls in all of North Dallas… yes, it is THAT good. All you can eat sushi rolls, handmade on site(no frozen junk here), vegetable tempura, great service and all for a very reasonable price of less than $ 14.00 per person. If you love sushi like Ms. Jones and her hubby do, you know you can easily spend over $ 30.00 per person getting your fill at traditional sushi bars. Velvet Jones will make you this promise – you will not find a better deal in town with tastier sushi. Today, they had over 18 different style rolls and this is actually the case every day. Don’t listen to the sushi snobs, for the money, this place is a solid five stars. Try it, love it and thank your lucky stars you follow the always accurate reviews of Ms. Velvet Jones. You’re welcome.

Don’t ever try the«all you can eat» in this restaurant. My first time here as the last time from now on.

The service is terrible! They don’t have that many customers at lunch time but I still wait a long time to get the menu and just a cup of water! And the food is also boring and terrible!

Stopped in for my first time tonight for sushi. The service could not of been better! Great people, great chef! The sushi however was average at best. I ordered a spicy roll and also the cowboy roll which they told me was their specialty. Most of the flavors from the sushi came from the sauces and not from the fish. This is unfortunate. Three stars because the service was excellent and it deserved a bump for that reason. It would have been two stars just for the food.

Dallas Suburbanite here: On a scale of «OMG, best sushi ever»(Blue Fish, anyone?) and Supermarket Sushi, this place is a bit above average, a solid in between for the price point. All’s I’ve had is some rolls, but plan to explore this more!

This place was pretty decent. I’m a huge sushi fan but as we all know that stuff gets pretty pricey. One of my friends introduced me to this place and I’d have to say for about $ 12 for all you can eat sushi, it’s pretty good. I tried out most of the things there, and everything tasted great. Also they have all the miso soup you want! Only reason I’d give it an average rating is because nothing was particularly special, which was expected. Big thing was that there wasn’t much variety, either. I’ve been to AYCE sushi places in Houston and there’s always been a lot more to select from for a pretty decent price so I expected more options but didn’t get too much of that. All in all, I’d definitely come here again if I have the munchies for some sushi but I’m not willing to drive far or I’m not down to drop $ 50 at an expensive sushi restaurant. Because it’s down the street from campus, I’m sure I’ll be back.

For what Sushi Hinoki sets out to do they hit their target on the mark. You really get what you pay for here, and that’s $ 12 sushi. Let me repeat myself, $ 12 sushi. That’s enough for a roll at a nicer sushi place, but that isn’t what Sushi Hinoki is. Not to hate on them because I genuinely like this place, their target market is mostly broke UTD students that like to stuff their faces no questions asked without having to take out a second(or third) student loan. And that is exactly what you get. The last time I was here the only roll with actual raw fish was the rainbow roll and the rest were a combination of cooked fish, sauce, fried, cream cheese, or all of the above. Some might say this is low quality, well I offer the rebuttal that this is $ 12 sushi. I am sad that they increased prices from $ 10 but that was only a matter of time. On the real though, if you’re looking for some low grade sushi to stuff your face then look no further. It tastes decent and you will leave full and happy. The décor is nice, staff is welcoming, and the food keeps on coming. Two tips would be that if a large group rolls in then a sushi famine ensues as the one sushi chef works madly to keep up. Some patience and you’re good to go. Secondly, if you’re not here for the buffet then go somewhere else. I’m sure it tastes great and all but it’s real expensive to make up for the buffet profits. There are much better sushi restaurants in the surrounding area that I’d rather go to.

Intro– this place is pretty awesome if you have a HUGE sushi craving and just want a crap ton of it without demanding too much quality and without the high price. Service– first of all, the service was nice. When I went around 2:00pm, it had a nice amount of people in it. They greeted me at the door, brought me to a booth and yeah! Not much to say was wrong. They constantly refilled everybody’s drink and brought out the sushi quickly for the buffet. Food– It was my first time and my friends talked about the hinoki special which is all you can eat sushi from the 18 sushi choices at the buffet! I must say, they actually impressed me! Although the sushi was not the best, all you can eat for a good amount of choices really got to me! You also get infinite miso soup, small ramen, and tempura vegetables. Again, if you’re craving sushi, want a lot of it, and don’t mind getting decent taste, give this place a try. If you care about your sushi and the quality, I personally wouldn’t bother though… Conclusion– I have yet to try things from their actual menu because hey, all you can eat sushi is just so enticing! If you’re not too picky about your sushi, come to this place. This is definitely not a «treat yourself» kinda place. I’d go to Yama sushi or sushi sake for that!

I love this place. I discovered it on Unilocal. It’s down the street from UTD, so it’s convenient for me when I’m hungry on campus. The first time I came, the staff was all really sweet and nice. The chef was sweet, and my waitress was also so sweet. They encouraged me to take my time to eat when they were about to close. The volcano roll here is amazing! The only volcano roll I’ve ever had that has mushrooms AND onions. I love it. It’s a little pricey. $ 15.95 I believe? But it’s definitely worth it. There’s an all you can eat buffet too! Tried the chicken teriyaki box, it’s not shabby. The place is calming and nice! Definitely will be coming back often.

I stopped in here after a long gym session and quick stop at Sprouts. Looks like this is geared more to an all you can eat buffet, which I never do. So maybe that was one issue. I had the green tea to drink. I ordered the Agedashi Tofu(fried tofu) for starters and ordered a veggie roll and avocado roll for my meal. The green tea had a very different taste than I am used to so I asked for sugar. When I opened the sugar, there were no sugar crystals, just nasty clumps as if the sugar packets had gotten wet. Yuck. I put it in my tea anyway and well now it tasted like cleaner. The tofu appetizer came out with my entrée which is annoying but whatever. I have never tried it so I was excited. The tofu itself was great, however the sauce it’s in was horrendous. It left a horrible taste in my mouth for the rest of the night. I had a few bites and was done…$ 6 bucks flushed. The rolls were okay… I only had a few pieces because the taste in my mouth from the agedashi dish was still so pungent. I paid and left. The servers were much more concerned with keeping the buffet stocked than what I may have needed. So if you go in, make sure that is what you order and you should be good. That’s what all the college kids were getting and they were pleased. *Very limited menu. Specials, rolls, and buffet.

Sushi Hinoki isn’t great sushi. It’s cheap sushi for sure, but it could easily be worse. This place is good for a fast and varied sushi experience. While I generally prefer Sushi Shack for my unlimited sushi lunches as I find their sushi to be better quality, it is better for going with groups while Hinoki is better for smaller groups since you don’t have to order whole rolls at a time and it’s buffet style. When I crave sushi, I don’t go here. But when I’m really hungry, it’s an off hour where no other sushi happy hours are happening, and I just have one or two people with me, Sushi Hinoki will do.

This is my go to sushi place in Dallas because… 1) it’s close to Utd 2) it’s affordable 3) not bad sushi 4) ALLYOUCANEAT!($ 12!!!) What’s better than that? Nowhere. Lemme tell you, this place’s sushi is the best I’ve had with this price in Dallas(much more worth it than sushi shack. Their buffet sushi is nasty). I always take people here, especially from out of town. The atmosphere is nice — not noisy, and it’s not usually crowded, which confuses me. They take card, parking isn’t an issue, they’ve got some extra stuff included in the buffet like dumplings, fried rice, tempura, miso soup, and salad. Basically, you need to come and try it out. It’s not the best sushi in the world, of course, but you definitely get a good deal. I guarantee you won’t leave hungry.

Went back to have lunch again and for some reason I wasn’t as happy with the buffet as I was the first time. It just didn’t taste as fresh as it was the first time. I still stick with what i said about the volcano roll though, delish!(3 stars alone, that’s how good it was) The sushi at the buffet was not as fresh — I’m thinking maybe because since it was busy the first time I went, they kept having to make more, making a fresh batch each time. Oh well, maybe if I do go again, I’m go for the specials menu and not the buffet.
