CLOSED!!! This place was good food, but terrible management. Unfortunately they are closed. There’s not a whole lot of options in this area for lunch, so I’m sad to see them go.

Wow … I drove by(twice) today and it appears this business is closed and gone from the Tewksbury location. I thought they did a fairly good business especially with the Chevron crowd. Does anyone know if they closed for good or moved to another location?

I’ve been coming here for several years now. The breakfasts are great all around. The turkey dinner was always a favorite too. But it the windows are now papered over and the number has been changed :( I’ll miss the German lady

I stumbled across this place while I was walking around Point Richmond. There are not too many breakfast places around here that I know of. Very nice People! The German Lady that owns it is a Hoot! Very clean and well ran:) I like it that way! There is lots of space to sit down and the food is good. I ordered the French Toast with a side of Home Fries and it was Delicious! I will for sure tell my friends and all of you about this one!

Delicious chicken enchiladas and yummy sandwiches with homemade potato salad! We look forward to many more meals here! Thanks for a perfect dining experience!

California club sandwich with turkey that was fresh out of the oven?(So the owner claimed… although I beg to differ because the turkey in my sammy was cold…). Either way, good sandwich. The turkey wasn’t dry but it wasn’t super juicy. It didn’t look like much food at first but in the end I was only able to finish half of the sandwich. My brother had the french dip and oh my there was so much meat in that thing!!! His gf had the beef tips with mashed potatoes and veggies; I tried a piece and it was really good. The portions here are pretty generous as none of us could finish our meals.

My only complaints with Edibles are that it isn’t in Berkeley and it isn’t open 24 hours(hell, if it were open 24 hours, I’d make the quick trip to Pt Richmond). Edibles is exactly what it sets out to be, a workingman’s lunch diner, with an extensive selection of non-skimpy dishes at low prices. I usually get the turkey dinner with all the trimmings: large portions of turkey and mashed potatoes, with smaller portions of stuffing, yams, cranberries, and mixed vegies, all smothered with gravy(served with as much buttered baguette as you want). About $ 10. Hits the spot when you want that home-cooked comfort food feeling– and even with the plethora of options in the Bay Area, that’s hard to find. It looks like there are plenty of healthy low-cal options on the menu as well, for those who want lighter fare. It’s a fairly large single open room, with lots of natural light. As others have mentioned, the owner is extremely gregarious, and the rest of the staff is genuinely friendly and seem to enjoy themselves. I always like when I get the sense a staff is well-treated, and it adds to the relaxed atmosphere. Top of its category for the East Bay.

One of many fine eateries in Point Richmond. With such low prices for the portions they give you, it’s certainly quite the value. You can get soups, sandwiches, quesadillas, and even a turkey dinner! I’ve been here multiple times, and I know I’ll go back in the future. The owner is also as friendly as they get, and always wears a smile.

I was expecting more negative reviews for this place after having lunch there recently. We ordered a French Dip and the meatloaf – both with salad. The french dip was very salty and the meatloaf tasted like that you’d find in a frozen dinner. Mashed potatoes tasted instant and the salad dressing was a glob of goo. The owner was very nice(hyper/animated) but the food just didn’t make the cut. Since so many others seem to like the place, maybe we caught her on a bad day– but this is a place we wouldn’t return.

I don’t usually like giving out information of my favorite places to eat because I don’t like when people start crowding the place. However, it would be so unfair not to spread the word… Today is my second time to eat at this place. Best way to describe the place — large portions for your money. I live in San Francisco where everything is small and pricey. A comparable restaurant in SF will cost you $ 25 parking, tiny portions and fancy-hyped crowded place. Edibles is completely opposite — with easy free parking, clean, simple, friendly atmosphere and wonderful food and host. The owner’s friendly and warmth personality makes you come back for more. A variety of food is offered(from organic vegetables to various choices of meats). What can I say — it is truly worth coming back. With that, I invite everyone to stop by and see for yourself what this place can offer.

Pro: Excellent quality of food and huge portions. My only beef with this place: I feel like I could make anything on the menu here at home. It’s all very simple, good quality, home-cooked food and tastes delicious but it just seems weird to me to pay for something that I could have made just as well myself at home. Personal opinion.

Delicious. I had a smoked pork chop for lunch which is the best I’ve had in a long time. The owner is a hilarious German lady who gives you some attitude if you can’t finish your food. This is harder than it sounds as she gives you way too much food. Most meals are served with fresh mashed potatoes and a choice of another side(veggies, fruit, fries, etc). Salads and soups looked top notch also. Solid 4 stars.

Well I’m rating them on the Catering sandwich boxes which my boss Loves getting for our working lunches. They aren’t cheap at all on putting a lot of meat on their sandwiches. The box comes with a Sandwich Fruit salad potato salad and a Cookie! or a lemon bar. I like their sandwiches but the only issue is when they cut the tomato they seem to prepare it a bit too early… The tomatoes taste too smooth like when you leave a cut slice out for a long while it tends to loose all its juices. That is my only complain about the Tomatoes sandwiches lol i am to picky? Other then that I would like to take a stroll down to point Richmond and have some breakfast which I just found out after reading some of the reviews haha. I would recommend this place for a very cheap cold lunch if you are on the go!

I don’t know what Elisa O. is talking about, Edibles has lots of vegetarian food only, especially since you come here at lunch and half the people are ordering salads. The German lady everybody is talking about is indeed very animated, friendly, and I am always happy to see her behind the counter when I walk in because I know I will get exactly what I want to get. In fact, you could probably tell her what you want, and I’d be willing to be she would more than likely have it made custom for you. However, the quality of some of there items tends to be lacking. For example, my favorite item is there chicken panini(although I wish it were grilled, it is not), but I tend to take out more than half of the chicken they place in my sandwhich and dispose of it. That isn’t saying much good about your chicken, as it’s certainly overcooked, and does not taste very fresh(I would suggest it was frozen if I didn’t see them cooking it behind the counter). Their eggplant sandwhich could use a bit of work too(which, mind you, is part of their vegetarian menu), it’s too mushy, perhaps less eggplant, and bread it a little bit. I think this place has a lot of potential, but is holding itself back due to ridiculous american customs. Another example, I love their breakfast burritos, but why in god’s name would you put sour cream in them? I didn’t even think to say«no sour cream.» The last point: portions here are just too damn large, and not proportionally either. I’ve noticed that with nearly everything. Chicken sandwhich, way too much chicken. Eggplant sandwhich, way too much eggplant. Breakfast burrito, way too many potatoes. Cut back on portions! Make it proportionally appetizing as well! Oh, and P. S. Elisa, I’m glad they didn’t allow your dog inside. Had you said the opposite, I would be less inclined to come here. Think about it and give these guys a second chance.

This is the first restaurant I’ve been to in Point Richmond. It was good. You can get some authentic German food here with an authentic German woman working the register. She is very animated. Other foods like the BLT or any other classic sandwich are good to go as well. This is never a first choice to go to. It’s a little more than decent. The prices were also fair. You can usually find a seat in this place and it’s never that busy, probably because it’s not the best but still good. I’d suggest trying this place once but it may not be something you’d come back to.

It’s been 2 or 3 years since we’ve been here. Our memory of the place was of a welcoming and loquacious hostess, good food and uncomfortable seating arrangements. I remembered picnic tables and benches, Alan remembered wooden folding chairs. I also remembered it being kind of dark. We were heading to Fort Mason and decided to have lunch in Point Richmond rather than fight traffic heading farther into SF. We parked by Hidden City Café only to discover it closed until January 2nd. I preferred to go back to Edibles rather than the Royal Oak and Alan indulged me. We walked in and there were new tables and chairs and the chairs were substantial and comfortable. The place was bright and cheery, w/a Christmas tree in the corner. There’s a large mural of the Bay on one wall that I had completely forgotten. We were welcomed in by our genial hostess. Alan ordered the Reuben(they’re famous for them) and I ordered a roast beef sandwich on wheat w/peppers, onions, kalamata olives and cream cheese. It was nicely balanced, w/lots of green peppers and just enough olives. Alan’s Reuben was even better, stacked thick on bullseye rye bread and accompanied by excellent potato salad. I had hot tea and my only complaint was that the water wasn’t particularly hot. There were several other parties and people came and went, everyone greeted in friendly fashion. We’ll be back sooner next time.

I have been going here since I was 4 and it was across from the Hotel Mac and they had the most beautiful luscious garden in the back. They have THEBESTPANCAKES, ever, period. So affordable, almost all breakfast plates $ 7& under, $ 3 for b-fast sandwich. Their sandwiches are extremely fresh and tasty, and they always have out of the ordinary items like brautwurst, which is great because you can get almost anything you are craving here. And the owner is such a nice lady who always starts a conversation with you.

In the mood for tons of food at a fraction of the cost? This is the richmond spot for you! Be ready to squint your eyes at the menu which is written in tiny dry erase marker. Your best bet would be grabbing a paper menu by the register. I love the salads here(Taco and Cob). They give very generous portions. This place is best known for their turkey with all the trimmings. Its a large plate of Thanksgiving all year round! Avoid the Noodles with Beef… unless you want a bowl of something that resembles canned dog food =/yck!

The food here is awesome; the first time I came I was overwhelmed with what I wanted to order because it all sounded so good. I ended up ordering the blintzes for lunch and wowing everyone in the canteen at work. Coming to the restaurant is like stepping into someone’s mom’s kitchen. It takes them a little bit of time to prepare the food, but you can tell it’s not because they’re playing cards in back; they prepare it all right in front of you. Very homey!
