The plan was to get a new roof along with some updates. I wanted to re do the whole trim around my house and get new gutters installed. Mind you, I am a new owner, therefore I trusted the reviews I had seen on this website. I couldn’t have been more wrong, and felt more taken advantage of as a new owner.
Carlos, the owner of the company, was my contact, which I thought was great. There would be no way something could get lost in communication, as they do with having a middle man. Carlos and I had agreed on the job, which I already mentioned was replacement of ALL trim around the house and new gutters, and a price was set. I was under the impression that since I had been very clear from the beginning, there would be no questions or issues.
After being hired, and while they were working, I decided to take a trip to the house. (I don’t live there yet.) I immediately noticed that they were not replacing all the trim. Also, some of the gutters were obviously crooked, and hard on the eyes. The side also needed gutters, however, they decided a smaller piece would be set there instead; I did not agree with that. I brought up my concerns, as any person would when they notice something not being done right. I was forward, and demanding as a customer, yet not disrespectful or rude. He agreed that he would take care of things, and I thought things would get done, once again.
A couple of weeks go by, and I go check on my home. Nothing had changed. I tried calling him multiple times, but got no answer. I finally decided to send him a text message, and he answered. He stated that the man who does the gutters would be in within the week.
Another two or so weeks go by, and the gutters had not been fixed. I email him, and he answers it, and states that because he replaced all the trim, and not just the bad one, we should call the deal «even» in regards to the gutters. That I even got a deal in the pricing because of it. However, I never indicated in my request to replace only bad trim. I clearly stated, replace ALL trim, and he had agreed to the price. I was not happy with him at that point. Therefore, I said we were not «even» and asked to have the gutters fixed, again. I got no answer back in regards to the gutters.
I called him again, very upset, and got no answer. I left him a message stating what needed to be fixed and got an email in return. The email said that when he is «pushed» to do something, it «inspires him to do things quickly.»
That’s how things ended, unfortunately.
I understand that this review is long, but it gives you a good idea of the kind of person you will be dealing with. I made the mistake of paying him the agreed amount before the whole job was done. Do NOT do that.
He is obviously not the kind of man who takes criticism well. I got the impression that he felt like his company could do no wrong. That’s a mentality no one should have. Mistakes are made all the time, and that’s understandable. However, the best response to mistakes is owning up to them and doing what should be done in order to fix them. Not get defensive.
To sum it all up, I would highly recommend to avoid this company at all costs.

Sacramento Steel Roofing did a great job on the re-​roof of our home. We’d put it off as long as we could but our old shake roof needed to come off. We were pleased with owner Carlos Brandt and his team’s ability to get the work done quickly and professionally. Several neighbors have commented on the quality of the new steel roof and we are enjoying our ‘new’ home. Sacramento Steel Roofing’s team were respectful and displayed a great work ethic.
