Update: I am changing my review after the incredible customer service provided by Peter. The part they replaced ended up not being the problem. They refunded the entire charge and then some. I had enough to cover the repair at not cost out of pocket and we finally have heat again. No more waking up in a 57 degree house!

Peter and Roman are great. They were very responsive, polite, professional, qualified, and most importantly, honest and trustworthy. They did not pressure us to buy anything we did not need and were very clear and up front about everything. Their prices are extremely competitive and more than fair. Other bids we got were $ 2-​$ 5k more than A Cool Air Inc’s. Our AC unit is very quiet and efficient and we are very satisfied with the work Peter did. I highly recommend these guys.

Hired A Cool Air to come and clean my coils, which they did a good job of. Then two of my vents were not blowing air and my fresh air handler has not working since i purchased my home. He did not know what my fresh air handler was nor did he know how to fix my two vents that were not blowing any air. He called his office and they told me that the owner would call me and come over to look at everything that the tech did not know about. One week went by and so i called them, they told me that the owner was on vacation and would call me the next week to schedule a visit. Called one more time after two weeks and never got a call back. So moral of the story is, if the tech that can’t speak English can fix it your in good. But don’t expect a call back from the owner to fix big problems, I have been waiting for over two months! I am going somewhere else now…

After all the great reviews about Peter, I was expecting… Peter. After calling to schedule an inspection, Roman told me that appointments could not be made by phone and I would have to hang up and email him. A bit strange, but ok. He did respond to my email and set an appointment for a few days later in the afternoon, telling me that he would call me that morning with a more exact timeframe. By 1 PM that day, I hadn’t heard from Roman still, so I sent a follow-​up email. He responded apologetically by email and also called about an hour later to say the technician was on his way. Again, not quite the best service, but workable. When the technician Leo arrived (on time), it was apparent that his English was not sufficient to address any of my questions. He walked around the house and climbed up to the roof without explaining anything he was doing. On the plus side, he seemed nice and killed a spider that had been hanging out around my front door. A while later I got a call from Roman telling me that my unit was operating well but that Leo had to clean some leaves from around the coils (my unit is on the roof). Turns out that’s $ 20 more. I relayed my question about an ill-​fitting filter to Roman to ask Leo… so then got another phone call from Roman. To Leo’s credit, he got out his ladder again and tried to show me what he meant using his measuring tape and gestures with a few English words while we waited for Roman’s translation help. I really hate to give a bad review simply because of a language barrier while these guys could be excellent at what they do. It’s just really hard for me to know. The point of an inspection is to gain information (How old is my unit? How much longer do you think it will last me? How often do I need to have it serviced?), and unfortunately that wasn’t possible in this situation.
An update on 9÷24÷15: Peter did send an apology letter and a check for a complete refund. I do admire his honesty and commitment to standing by his satisfaction guarantee.

My AC went out on a Sunday night at 105 degrees. I left A Cool Air an email. The owner got right back to me and was at my house the next morning. He just needed to replace a capacitor and I was good to go. I’l use them when I replace my 15 year old system within a couple years.

This is a review that came in late. I got my AC replaced last summer. The temperature was 100+ and my AC completely died. I called and got 3 estimates for due diligence. First two companies had fancy sales men, but they weren’t the ones would be doing the actual work, and they had a bit of difficulty explaining technicalities, extremely simple estimates with high prices, but no explanation of reasoning for costs. Last estimate had A Cool Air which gave an excellent write up. Price point. Explanation for costs. Explained rebates at the time and how those would work along with walking me through the rebate process (and I did get the rebate along with a great new system!) They really did an A++ job, one hot summer later and my AC is still working like a charm. Give these guys a call!!!

Great service for my elderly mother. The tech did not speak English well enough to communicate with my french speaking mother. So the manager Roman simply called me with updates. Their prices were reasonable and upfront.

Rule one in business. Always keep your appointments. And if you can’t…pick up the phone.

Another great service call from A Cool Air. 100 degree and everyone is a week wait just to show up. After talking to Peter in the morning, he was able to squeeze in me and fix my rental property AC in the afternoon the same day. What a guy! Trustworthy, reliable, life saver for rental property!

I highly recommend A Cool Air. We needed new duct work and insulation. After getting a few quotes, A Cool Air came in way below the rest. In addition, they did all the work necessary to get a significant rebate from PGE to offset the total cost of the project. The thing that impressed me most, however, was after our system failed the initial test to qualify for the rebate, A Cool Air came back to the house and replaced the intake ducts under the house (something that wasn’t included in the original quote) at no additional charge. Now our system works great. Excellent prices and integrity to match. Could not ask for more!

I’m giving these guys 5 stars because they called me back off a message I left them here (with about 35mins) on Unilocal.That’s really impressive because most trade business like this are not internet savvy and you know what I mean;)
They messaged me back with their availability (though it didn’t work for me) which was huge and it allowed me to find someone else. I hate waiting and that feeling of who or should I call someone else or wait for someone call me back. For this merit alone, I’d say give these guys a chance.

Found A Cool air on Unilocal in 2013. After having several companies come out to check my hydronic HVAC system and recommend replacement, A Cool Air repaired a leaking pipe in my ceiling (which no one else would touch for under $ 800.00 dollars) and performed the service on my system all for around $ 300.00. Thought I had my HVAC company for the long haul. E-​mailed for my unit to be serviced and was told they no longer serve the Folsom area.
So…disappointed.

Had a gem of a HVAC unit that was pushing outside-​temperature air through my air ducts and the only people who were loving it were the folks at SMUD every month when I paid my utility bill. After a summer of adding more coolant and another summer of getting the unit from 1985 «serviced» it was clear I was beating a very dead horse. My search started on Unilocal,and with the help of Google, I gathered close to half a dozen folks from whom I would call and gather pricing, brands, and availability. I ended up inviting three vendors over for a more formal review, and despite the constant reminders of SMUD rebates and Obama tax breaks I would have available to me if I booked with [insert any HVAC companies name here], only Peter gave me the Carrier unit and peace of mind I was hoping for. Given all the troubles with my previous unit, I wanted to spend my money on a crew that had a long track record in town, but also on a team that would deliver the trifecta of HVAC service… bidding, install, maintenance. The other guys that offered proposals on the project all had unique job descriptions, which may be efficient if all you do is the bidding, or the ripping-​out the unit, or installing of a new unit, but could care less if there’s a service call down the road because those service calls don’t fall under your job description. Instead, I wanted a crew of guys that would tackle this project front to back, as a team, and with a big concern on the quality of the install because if anything acts up down the road, they’re the same guys who will be making the trek back to Greenhaven to fix the thing at their time and expense.
Long story only a little longer, the experience was great and I was super stoked on Unilocal for the great referral and on Peter and team at A Cool Air for the great experience and HVAC unit. A stand-​out moment for me came on the backend of the whole process. Once the install was complete, Peter still dedicated quite a bit of time to make sure I was comfortable with the rebates, SMUD forms, and various expectations come tax-​time. Though he already had his money and I had my unit, he continued to deliver great service, take great care of me, and exceed expectations. The team at A Cool Air is nothing short of a class act and picks up 5 shining stars from me all the way.

I have been a customer of Peter’s for several years now. I had him install two new systems for me in my home about four years ago and he did a fabulous job for a great price. The quality of the work was impeccable and working with him was a breeze. He always was on time, did what he said he would do and there were no unpleasant surprises. He made his warranty for 5 years for any problems, no cost to me, not even labor.
This week I thought I had a problem with one of my systems where the heat wasn’t coming on. He came out checked everything out and (to my embarrassment) he found no problems. Oh dear! He was still abundantly professional and friendly and told me to let him know if another problem occurred. Honestly, I simply could not imagine anyone doing doing it better. So, he has my highest recommendation, and that is not something I give very often.
Don’t be confused or put off by needing to email him to contact him, he does that so he can focus on the job at hand and he returns your inquiry via a call very quickly, less than two hours for me.

This update is long overdue — we updated our entire HVAC system through Peter last October. We have used Peter in the past, and didn’t think twice to call him for a quote when we decided to replace the whole system. As an educated consumer, I also got 2 other quotes from other companies — but I might as well just thrown those out because they were a waste of time. Not only was Peter’s quote the cheapest, it included better, more efficient equipment — and he installed bigger duct work and helped the flow in upstairs bedrooms that we felt were not cooling down as good with the old system. Install was perfect, and they did an awesome job. I tell everyone about A Cool Air — since now that we have the new system we probably won’t need them for a while. Do yourself a favor and call Peter first, you won’t be sorry!

I had a fantastic experience with A Cool Air. I called on Tuesday night and was informed by the recording that they were booked for the next 3 days but to email them in case anything opens up. I got a reply to my email roughly 30 mins later saying they could come out the very next day at 5 pm. No 4 hour waiting window, just one set time! Words can’t express how awesome this is when you have to work during the day.
The tech came out exactly at 5 pm and quickly fixed my AC in only 40 minutes. He even gave lots of advice and took time to explain what the problem was and how to avoid it in the future. Unfortunately, it was a little more expensive than I thought it would be ($ 70 for inspection and $ 70 for labor — I originally thought it was only $ 70) but I guess that’s the price of having a working AC when it’s 90 degrees out.

I needed to replace a 25 year old HVAC system and did a lot of research on service providers in the area, manufacturers and costs and had a few different companies come out and give estimates. I chose A Cool Air based on the interaction with Peter and his advice and candid assessment of what was and (as important) wasn’t needed. Less of a sales pitch and more of a conversation. He’s a great guy and seems to just want to give you what you need, not try to get you into the Mercedes of HVAC systems…
He quoted the best price for a 4-​ton system, we scheduled the date, and they came out and did a great job. Great follow up, very professional, and fast responses to questions, etc. I’ll be contacting them again — knock on wood — should I need to in the future. Highly recommended.

I needed HVAC work done on a short sale house I was closing on immediately. I was on a very tight schedule — I called numerous places, and only Peter’s business responded. He said they could start the work the next day. Without his response, I would not have been able to complete the work on my expedited schedule.
As for the work quality: it was fantastic. He did a very great/​professional job; everything was completed as promised.
Furthermore, I would like to add: In the entire process, we faced a lot of problems due to the home being a short sale; stated, Peter helped work around each of these problems without complaint. He responded to my texts/​phone calls all throughout the day to help finalize things as soon as possible… for all future work, I will definitely be using Peter.
