Check ‘n Go

First, where do I start? Oh, that’s right. The horrible way I got «baby talked» to last night when I applied for a payday loan. My day began badly, when I realized I’d be $ 150 short on bills after an unexpected car repair. So I google «payday advance» and voila! Check ‘n Go is the closest location to me. I’ve done payday advances in the past when very necessary, and I know they are not a long term solution. I don’t have a long term cash flow problem, so I check out their website and it says «borrow anywhere from $ 100−255». PERFECT.
I walk into the store and was greeted promptly (which is where I give them 1 star). Immediately, however, the tone of the conversation was extremely condescending. In the past I’ve gone to California Check Cashing, and I should have gone there. The guy wanted a check, my ID, my bank statements, my paystub, my social security number, and I had to fill out an entire application. After all that, he wanted me to pull up my bank account on my phone to prove it is still active. California Check Cashing never required any of this for a payday loan, but OK… I need the cash so I’m willing to do whatever I need to. But as soon as I spent 20 minutes filling everything out, he proceeds to tell me that I’m wasting my money and I should really take out a $ 2616 loan with 17 payments of $ 360. Ummm… I came in to borrow $ 150 bucks which would have about $ 20 interest. 17 payments of $ 360 is like FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS in interest. What part of «I don’t have a cashflow problem» didn’t you understand? He made me sign some crap saying I wasn’t interested in the installment loan, all the while trying to talk me into it. I’m not an idiot, sir. I don’t want your installment loan. I want a simple, quick, one-​time payday loan so I can get my car fixed.
At this point I’m already impatient, and I’m about to walk out the door when he finally says «ok you’re all approved. Now, would you like to borrow $ 100 or $ 255?» I said «I’d like to borrow $ 150, like I said when I walked in the door. Your website says you can borrow FROM $ 100-​$ 255». He looked at me and with the same condescending voice explained that in California they aren’t licensed to loan $ 150. You can choose $ 100 and pay $ 17 interest, or you can choose $ 255 and pay $ 45 interest. «OK, but you didn’t tell me that when I walked in the door and said I need to borrow $ 150». Of COURSE now he’s pushing me to take out the $ 255 amount so I will owe them more interest. NO THANK YOU.
«I’m sorry, but that’s not going to work for me. I will go to California Check Cashing instead.» I tried to head out the door quickly and he stopped me, saying I have to sign some statements that I’m I’ve been offered a payday loan and I’m not interested. You’ve gotta be kidding! THEN he tells me that payday loans are not really their main business and that’s why all the extra paperwork. WHAT? WHAATT? It says «Payday Loan» all over your building, your website, and your business cards. Dude. Shred my file and get over yourself.
If you need a payday loan, go to California Check Cashing. They are much friendlier, not condescending, they offer $ 100 UP TO $ 255 (and anywhere in between), they don’t require an application or bank statements, etc. They also will work with you if your paycheck doesn’t show up on time etc. In fact, I’m going to their Unilocal now to leave a GREAT review.

If I could give negative stars I would. Every time I come here there is only one girl working and 5 – 7 customers waiting. The employee always looks miserable and is not friendly. I do not suggest coming to this location. The wait time is always at least 30 minutes. horrible customer service. They need to hire more employees. Also hire employees that appreciate business and are people friendly.

The people that work here are very friendly and helpful. The customer service is always awesome and consistent. I highly recommend!
