Pros:
Cheap, clean, great staff, great food
Cons:
Bed had hole in it so it was flat all night (sleep number bed)
People in room next to us got in a fight at 3:30 in the morning. Slamming doors and yelling.
Trains running all night long blowing their horns.
Drain in shower was clogged so you had to get out of the shower and wash your feet in the sink.
It would’ve gotten a higher score if we could’ve slept. I consider sleeping an important part of a hotel stay. If you sleep like a log you will probably be fine.

I was booked on the wrong night by an online company so it wasn’t Red Lion’s fault but the guy working the front desk (June 25^th, Saturday night) had this «sucks to be you» attitude. He gave me some options but I have to say that walking into that beautiful lobby with the Chihuly glass on the walls is truly impressive — and then talking to some mouth-​breathing frat boy calling me «bro» and dropping F bombs to his co-​worker as soon as he thought I was out of range just didn’t match. Let him clean rooms or something. All of my other reviews are stellar because I prefer to reward great service with high reviews.
Maybe the rooms are amazing for the right price, etc. I don’t know. My review is only based on how I was treated by one person on one frustrating night.

This place has some perks but overall isn’t worth the money. We have come here several times seeking an affordable staycation but honestly you are better off at a Motel 6 or America’s Best Value Inn. What hotel has non-​functioning ice machines and no refrigerators in the rooms during summer… this place.

Positives: free bottle of water and the brand of shampoo/​soap/​lotion/​conditioner.
Negatives: the train track is just behind the hotel and trains run all night. Also the birds start squawking at 5 am and have about a million annoying calls.
Of course if the walls were not paper thin that wouldn’t matter.
Besides that, the upkeep on this place is basically bandaid style fixes. And it does not evoke a sense that the staff really cares about cleanliness.
Try the Governors hotel. Ratings are better, location is just off I-​5, breakfast is included and prices are a bit cheaper.

Ok so let’s start with the positive.
Absolutely gorgeous grounds. And a wonderful bar. Very friendly staff. Room furnishings and comfort were great. Location is convenient. Front desk staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. In particular Jacob and Roy. Thank you both. Truly.
Now the negatives.
The walls are PAPER THIN. I checked in to room 351 early afternoon. I had no one on either side of me. It was perfect. A few hours later a young couple checked in next to me. Around midnight, as I was trying to sleep, they decided to be very vocally intimate. I could hear everything. I was tempted to leave but decided to see if I could switch rooms. Jacob was awesome and moved me to a room that was quiet, without any other guests nearby. My night went on without any problems.
The next day I checked out with the intention of driving 4 hours home, but got caught up with apartment hunting and college visiting stuff. I decided to get a room again here and rest up to leave the next day.
I was put in room 281. Everything was great until 9pm. My neighbors got loud. Again, paper thin walls. I almost cried because I was so tired and frustrated that this was happening AGAIN. I trudged down to the front desk and spoke with Roy. He moved me again.
So here I sit, in a hopefully empty wing of the hotel aside from myself.
The gorgeous grounds and friendly staff mean absolutely nothing if I can’t get any sleep.
If you don’t mind hearing your neighbors go at it all night, then hey, maybe this is the hotel for you.

My room had an odd stain in the sink. Not a deal breaker for me. The theft of 12 beers, and the lack off follow up, or any sort of concern from management and staff is troubling and disappointing. My questions were never addressed.

breakfast advertised as ending at 10am, went down at 9:34am, the woman said im too late as she packed up.
asked for a sleep number remote more than once so i can utilize the bed while im here, never brought it.
was told we can find vending machines by the pool, there was only an ice machine and a machine with soda.
there is a party of children in the pool, screaming at 10am. these are not all children of hotel guests.
was locked out of room because the key they gave me wouldnt work, i was about 6 minutes walking from lobby, they had me walk by myself instead of coming to me.
spoke to the guy at the front desk about the breakfast, he said «ill look into it» then promptly hung up.
need help moving my bag transferring rooms, its been 15 minutes already.
DO NOT STAY HERE. THIS IS A LOW CLASS MOTEL.

Worst service ever! Ruined our reserve and ruined our friends reserve. Took 45min to get a room. And it was wrong. They put me on hold forever had to go back to the lobby and get it fixed. This girl and guy at the desk did not give a fuq about service.
No fridge! They did bring one to the room thank god. And there must have been a shift change because later that night they were super nice and cool. The security guard Franco/​Ernesto I forgot his name. Big African American guy came to our room and opened a bottle of wine for my wife. Thank you so much for that.
Check out was easy. The 1 star is for him. No stars for this hotel.

If there is a zero, this hotel will receive one from me! We came here in Sac for my daughter’s softball game, when we got here they put us in the handicap room with no air conditioning, no phone line and no tub! We didn’t reserve a handicap room but they keep insisting we did! I don’t know! But major disappointment for me! I think they should close and renovate!

2ft tall weeds in the dark creepy back of the property where our room was located. I think there may have been a few business operations going on in the rooms around us. Property is severely neglected, the city should shut this place down. Stained carpet, unfinished walls repair and the room smells like mildew. Not safe. Moving to the Sheraton tonight

This review is solely for their AYCE holiday buffets. We’ve been here for three different occasions, the latest being Mother’s Day. At this point, it seems like they’ll be offering the buffet on most major occasions, but schedules have varied, so it might be a good idea to call ahead. For Mother’s Day, they offered a 10% discount to those who booked a reservation a month in advance.
Each time we’ve gone, we take their earliest booking time. This not only gives you a chance to be the first ones to the buffet, but it also allows for seating at the most desirable spot in front of the glass windows that line their beautiful lake area. Mother’s Day was the first time we’d seen it busy enough to even warrant making a reservation, but maybe that’s an indication that word has gotten out.
Our first two times here the staff was incredibly gracious, to the point of truly treating us like guests in their home. This last time however, they had a lady serving as hostess that was being unbelievably rude to people. She seemed to be completely overwhelmed by the effort it took to get groups of people to their table and vented her frustration on arriving guests. It was a very jarring way to start what should be a lovely meal with Mom. After watching her curtly tell people they «might» get the table they were asking for and several times witnessing her just walk away from someone asking a question, I was steeled for my interaction. Thankfully, after mentioning the name of the person I spoke to about our reservation, the hostess from hell became an angel. Her attitude immediately turned around and she showed us to our table.
The buffet consists of pretty standard brunch fare. I was impressed that the eggs Benedict had lightly poached eggs and was pretty tasty to boot. Other highlights included an omelet station and prime rib. Be sure to hunt down the seafood table! For some reason, they like to hide it in the corner by the salads. This last time it was loaded with crab legs, peeled shrimp, oysters, and lox with bagels.
A trip to the dessert room is an impressive way to end the meal. The whole side of the bar area is converted into a sugarholics dream (or diabetic nightmare). Cheesecakes, chocolate-​covered strawberries, cookies, whole pieces of cake and mini pieces of cake… it’s all there. If I could just have the seafood table and the desserts, it would probably be worth the price of admission for me.
Mimosas, champagne, and all the usual beverages were included in the reasonable price. I believe it was right around $ 38 per adult. When trying to make a reservation, I recommend asking for Robin. That girl is a high-​class professional. The day I called for reservations in April, she returned my call the same day and was very kind about making sure we got all of our requests put in.
Aside from the hostess debacle, service was very friendly and accommodating. The server for our table was so sweet to let Mom and I linger over our chocolates and watch the ducks for a while.

The pictures are very misleading on their site. The price was right for what I received.
I was put all the way in the back and it was horrible. Didn’t feel safe. The area I was in looked like a very trashy Motel 6… my room was that of a Motel 6… but, I got what I paid for.
See attached pictures of what you really get if you don’t pay the premium prices for pool side or Lake side rooms. However, I can’t see the rooms looking any different.

Walls are thin. Parking was hard. There were a couple events going on including some fights. Lots of shirtless guys being loud idiots trying to show off. Also they want 75 extra for a deposit. I booked on priceline with a prepay then had to go add money to my card to cover their deposit. Not cool. Air conditioning doesn’t work. Was 77 when I got here had it on 68 for hours its still 77. Loud place… Old sleep number beds… Filthy sink. Id rather be at a motel 6.
Edit: Do not get too attached to that 75 dollar deposit. They will not accept cash… Only card. It has been 8 days and I have not received my money back. I will never stay at another garbage Red Lion again. There’s nothing but overpriced room service for a few hours per day to justify that 75 dollar hold. No minibar in the room… Red Lion your business policies suck. Stop trying to be a Marriot when you’re a glorified Super 8. Will not be back ever… And when I drive by your establishment I will roll down my window and spit from now on.

Not bad for a hotel that has been around for more than 20years. The hotel grounds are huge. Almost park like. The fountain water is recycled from their private wells. The staff friendly and helpful except the restaurant wait staff. I returned from work at about 930 am. And I was hungry. I was told breakfast was stopped at 930am as I was reading the menu it said breakfast closes at 10 am. The waitress was somewhat rude. I needed hairspray. The gift shop had travel size hairspray $ 6.99. At Walmart it’s a $ 1. I really loved the bed. Slept well. I had brought my dog and forgot poop bags. Hotel did not have any but Angelica our housekeeper provided us extra bags. Thank you Angelica and a big shout out to Robin who made our stay most comfortable.
I wanted to add in about the other photos posted. We did not find bugs in our room.

Ridiculous. Every time when I check in hotels, I always check the beds; to make sure it’s clean and bed bugs free. I walked in and checked the bed. I was disturbed by few hair strands on the bed sheet and on the pillow.

I have not stayed here for 8 years. 8 years ago we had a group of around 50 here for a two day meeting, 10 of us had our cars broken into. So back for the first time in 8 years and how this place has gone down hill from 8 years ago. My first room (261) smelled like mold. Then today in the meeting room area more mold, wet carpet, and a mushroom growing inside the hotel.
Don’t stay here!

I stayed at the red lion for one night I had no toiletries in my bathroom, two of the lights were broken and my door kept jamming where I couldn’t open it, then I checked out the next day and they still charge me for two nights I highly recommend not staying at this hotel.

I don’t know where the disconnect is between Expedia and Unilocal,but Unilocal is accurate. Super old and dingy and I don’t get the sense that this is the cleanest place. I am checking into another place in the morning! Oh, and the wifi is super slow too.

This is the worst hotel l have been in for a long time! Sunday morning…500 people here… no food no drink… no help… poor or no service!!!

Dated is an understatement. Switches, plugs, coffee maker and the sleep number bed sucked… every plug and switch! Room smelled like cigarettes, and the shower was equivalent to the bathroom sink water. Paid for the «breakfast buffet», was behind someone else getting food and the attendent comes out and says it’s not open yet. She says it opens in 10 minutes, and proceeds to give more attitude?

This place is a dump. I stayed here while in the area for work and will never do it again. The lobby is really nice but the rooms are dumps. I walked into my room and first thing I noticed was the strong smell of cigarettes (in a non smoking room), next was burn holes in the carpet, broken lock on the walkthru door for the other room. When the air kicked on it smelled like marijuana and cigarettes all night. All in all this place is a dump for the price. I’ve stayed at $ 60 a night motel 6’s that are nicer than this place.

Let me preface this review by saying that im in town for a job interview. Ive been up since 1am after only 3hrs of sleep. Could it be the nerves or the train that passes every hour and blasts its horn? Or maybe its the ac/​heater fan thats louder than average?
Travelocity seemed to have decent reviews, but Unilocalers are right once again. I should have looked here first before booking.
The footprint of this business is huge… almost too big. Im in the room in the way back of the property so i had to drive past a few dark, empty buildings. Sorta spooky here.
Room is nice enough. A little outdated bathroom but the mattress is a sleep number mattress. Pretty cool. Like renting a car before buying but i dont plan to buy this mattress. If you roll towards the middle, its like sleeping in the crack of a butt!

I do not recommend staying at this run down hotel. Thankfully, we were only staying for one night. While the beds were comfortable and room clean with the exception of stained carpet and some mold in the bathroom, the hotel is extremely rundown. We worried for the safety of our vehicles. The staff was less than accomodating. Hotel was maybe 20% full and yet they put us in rooms that were the furthest back from the lobby and jacuzzi. Way too far to walk to either, but based on the condition of the hotel and property, I don’t think I would have wanted to get in their jacuzzi anyway.
Because our rooms were cold, we asked for additional blankets. An hour later they brought us raggedy blankets with holes in them.
Stay far away. No way this should be rated as a 2.5 star hotel.

TERRIBLE!!! I just had Frank, the «security manager,» call and say they have a noise complaint against our room. The way he addressed the situation was unprofessional and rude. He came to our room as I requested because I wanted him to see how «crazy and loud» we were. (5 year old, 13 year old and 2 moms!) you could tell he felt so stupid when he realized how ridiculous he was for accusing us of being loud. He scared the kids with his unprofessional behavior and made us feel like we had to walk on egg shells. It is 10:30 pm and he basically told us we couldn’t walk around because the downstairs people could hear our footsteps. Then his reason was that «they may have paid more than us!» Unbelievable!!! I am appalled at the way we were treated and will make sure I let everyone and anyone on all social media, how terrible they treat their guests. DESPICABLE!!!
Update: there was a bug on my pillow. Gross! I called the front desk and who do they send to come pick up the pillow with the bug… the rude security guard.
Update from this morning: The hotel manager, Rich, just called and before even talking to me he says «I was told about the incident last night and I’m just calling to let you know that Frank handled the situation correctly so there’s nothing I can do and I’ve never gotten a complaint about him in the 5 years he’s been here.» He did not even hear anything I had to say yet! Then he goes on to say that Frank told him that he too heard stomping or jumping from OUTSIDE. How is that even possible? Sounds to me like Frank was trying to cover his butt. I let him know that maybe the noise they were complaining about was the sound of normal walking and maybe the fact that the floors were so creaky was the issue since I can definitely hear the creaking when I walk. He then says «we’ve never had a problem with that room before.» Whatever! Then I address the noisy heater issue. He says again, we’ve never had an issue with the noise from the heater. So I video taped it as proof and posted it on here. He offers to move us. Ummm its 8:20 am and we are checking out soon. My daughter is still sleeping. So basically he is offering to move us so we can pack up all of out stuff, I can wake up my daughter, drag out luggage to another room in the cold and then check out? No thanks. That is a joke! Why didn’t they offer to move us when we first complained? Then I addressed the bug on my pillow. He automatically gets really defensive and says that he saw a picture of it and it’s not a cockroach so it’s not an issue. I don’t care if it’s a cockroach or a beetle or anything else, it’s a bug and it’s on my pillow!!! Gross.
Update (9:00 am): they send maintenance to fix the heater. Well what good does that do now? We are about to check out and we spent 2 nights listening to it. Why didn’t they fix it when we first called about it?
Update (9:37 am) maintenance is still here trying to fix the heater so I can’t shower or get ready. While I wait I wanted to point out a few other things that I’ve been bothered by on my stay. The key card reader doesn’t read the card well and on average it takes about 5 – 8 tries before it works. The sleep number bed is broken. There is terrible lighting in the rooms. The hallway light is the only one with a switch. The others you have to manually turn them on. The bathtub was gross and the drain needs a cleaning. The floor is very creaky and the carpets are dirty. The comforter had obviously not been washed because there were fresh stains (dirt and who knows what else) but they were stains that hasn’t been washed out. The room smells of smoke even though it says non smoking. No microwave or refrigerator in rooms (which is fine because it’s not advertised as having them but just in case you’re looking for a place that offers them, this is not the place for you) Rude management and security.
Update (10:20 am) maintenance just left after and hour and twenty minutes and he says they will have to call the contractor because he wasn’t able to fix it. I have to say, he was very friendly and tried to help! He was so nice and tried so hard to fix it. If only the rest of the staff could be that friendly but the management should take lessons from this humble and friendly Filipino man. He talked to us about the Philippines and when he lived in Japan. Very nice guy.
I did call the front desk to get a late check out because maintenance was here and we couldn’t shower and get ready. Brittany was very hesitant to let us check out later. Hmmm it really shouldn’t be an issue if it was their fault we can’t get ready!

I read the reviews after it was too late to change hotels. If low cost is the deciding factor then this hotel is fine. Room was clean and staff were pleasant. I intended to work on my computer but their adapter was not compatible to my laptop. I would have sat around the pool but there were no umbrellas and no shade. Hotel is very «tired.» I should have done better research… my fault.

Stayed here this past weekend. Hotel is somewhat outdated, however I was told the hotel is changing ownership very soon. Enjpyed the atmosphere at the bar. The 2 employees who were working in here were very friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Enjoyed my king sized bed and beautiful view of the lake.

Poor maintained room. Very poor overpriced food in restaurant. Very noisy, regular freight trains throughout the evening.

Terrible service as soon as I walked through the door to check in. He told he me I couldn’t get a room even though I paid for one and booked on online. Terrible attitude. The manager right next to him never stepped in. Trying to get some sleep is impossible between the grounds and maintenance yelling obscenities at each other I couldn’t get a wink of sleep which is why I booked a room to begin with! Outdated, and dirty. Worst hotel experience ever!

THEY HAVE ROACHES!!! Thats all I needed to see. Cancelled my reservation immediately and went to the Marriot which was a great hotel. The guy at the front desk named Rahul was a total D**K Never again!!!

Cheap hotel but not located in a safe location. This hotel can get a bit so sketchy! You’ll know what I mean when you visit this hotel, just wait till the sun sets, and life out on the streets gets a tid bit weird. Make sure you’re armed with a pepper spray and/​or never walk alone from your car to your room and vice versa.
Only reason why I went here, because the rate is cheap and they do offer military discount.
The check-​in process was fairly quick. Well kept lobby! And once you’re done checking in, and was given a room number, expect your room to be far away from the lobby, and I mean far! It takes a drive and you can get lost finding your room while driving. The property is poorly well thought off, its like a maze finding your room even after following what the manager have told us upon checking in.
Other than that, I’ll never come here again unless Im with friends to create my own body fortress to save money. And why not? Well as others have mentioned, rooms are not properly maintained… Other reviewers have graphic photos for you too look at. Im NOT posting pics, since pics will be on my album and its gross! Not my type of genre.
Definitely a 2 – 3 star hotel… I’ll give it a 3 because thats a plus one on my book for offering a military discount when me and couple friends spent 1 night!
On a final thought, all I can say is, THIS HOTEL needs to be remodeled really bad! Rooms are gross. I chose to spend a night in my car instead, but friends insisted me to stay with them for my own safety. And yet alone, I dont feel safe with the bugs lurking when Im asleep and chose to sleep in between my friends at the middle of the bed creating a body fortress as my first line of defense while staring at the ceiling all night pitch black.
Definitely had a terrible sleepless night! But nice man-​made lake though with a lighted fountain. And dont let the Main Entrance fool you. Dont judge a book by its cover! It may look like a resort, but once you spend a night or however nights you can handle, you’ve been warned! You get what you paid for. Namm sayinn.

This hotel is run-​down, old, and dirty. I found a critter on my bed (see picture attached). Also, the parking lot and surrounding area seem somewhat shady. There are several signs located in the parking lot area warning potential car thieves (picture attached). If you can, avoid staying in this hotel.

This place needs some MAJOR updating. I come here only when they have fight events and I always stay because it is convenient and I don’t want to drive 2 hours back home, BUT it really needs some renovation done especially for what they charge to stay there! We called the front desk for more blankets and they told us they ran out! How do you run out of blankets?!

Omg!!! First thing I see when I move the pillow– two bugs. I was only able to take a picture of this one, the other one, smaller and black, disappeared. Oh boy, I’m here for two days. Why me? There goes my beauty sleep for two night. Fml! On a side note, it smells like feet in here.

The staff are super nice, which is why I feel bad giving it only 1 star, but my god this place is a dump. The rooms smell of mildew, they face the outside (motel style), and some of the other guests are a little unsavory. I walked around and smelled a couple people smoking pot and I was driving all the way around the back of the hotel to park next to my room, I saw a couple shady people just loitering…
The pictures look nice and the prices similar to other hotels in the area like the Double Tree by Hilton, suggest it may be nice… but this place is GHETTO!

UPDATE: As I was leaving the hotel I noticed this little bug on my bed and it kinda grossed me out. Only reason why I’m taking a star away. I’m not a fan of bunking in with little bugs so this really upset me. I have added a picture. Everything else was super clean and nice so it still gets 4 stars.

. Got 2 beds and a huge room for only $ 67! Definitely worth the money. I had a great stay. Rooms are clean and stocked with plenty of towels and blankets. Room service is very nice and professional. I would definitely recommend staying here and will stay again!

Attended a concert here. Loved the ambiance then ate a yummy fat juicy burger and Caesar salad in the casino after, yes casino!
This place has a bar, a stage, a little store and a friggen casino!
Before the event we checked into the hotel. Went smoothly with the three agents at the counter. They were very friendly and professional to me and also with the guest in front of us.
To be honest I booked this hotel because I didn’t want to drive to another location after the concert… then I noticed on Unilocal that they had bad reviews so I called
to see if they could look at other hotels I was going to talk to my husband and possibly change the reservation… got sidetracked and forgot… and I’m glad I kept this hotel.
I will be back for sure!

This hotel has so much potential. First of all, they are dog friendly with a $ 15 deposit. Five stars to the staff.
From a distance, it’s an oasis in the midst of a bland and somewhat industrial area. The lobby is pretty nice. Once you start to drive in to the actual lodging area around the back, you realize it’s a little sleazy.
We were lucky enough to have a room right on the little pond on the property. We had a door that opened onto a patio overlooking the pond and across from the restaurant.
The patio itself was dirty and a lady a few doors down was chain smoking out there. I had to clean the patio myself and move back inside every time the lady lit up.
The room (#157) had comfy sleep number beds. That is the only good thing I can say about it. The carpet was so nasty and so was the shower. There was no fridge, but they would bring you one for $ 10. What a hassle.
Lastly, the vending room was scary. There was a huge pile of trash in the corner where a trash can should have been and there were flys every where. It was the stuff nightmares are made of.
I Would not stay here. Needless to say that I would not recommend this place to anyone.
